AVOID THIS MOVING COMPANY. **POST MOVE UPDATE: the company got back to me and offered me a $100 credit due to their lack of customer service. I decided to go with the company because I really believe in second chances and an all for small business prospering. I was absolutely WRONG to do so. The day started out okay. Three young men came with a truck and they started working. My husband and I supervised them to our best extent without getting in their way. We successfully packed the van and arrived at the new apartment. Once we arrived, I realized some of the pieces of furniture arrived scratched. Not little tiny surface scratches, but FULL on indents into the wood or pieces of the furniture cracking. Now I would kind it so much if they were old, but I literally purchased all these pieces in the past seven months. One of my dining room chairs had a scratch in it, my chest had chips where they carelessly couldn't put the drawers back in, the tv stand foot is cracking, my new dresser that I literally got in December/January has a broken piece (thankfully Macy's is sending a service technician), and the boys carried my mattress by the cover which ripped and is now dirty (found this out they left). I was most concerned with my wood pieces since it's hard to replace, my new dresser alone was over $500. I let the "lead" boy know, his name was Samson and he called his boss but didn't say anything, charged us, and left. I emailed the company with a follow up statement, they asked for pictures. I sent the ones I took, and SILENCE. I finally called today to follow up and spoke with Kyle. He told me their manager tried to call but I didn't pick up. No one bothered to leave a voicemail or send me an email. Kyle told me my options were a credit of $100 or sending a handyman out to fix the damages. Uh what? I declined the credit before ONLY to be offered $100 for you to damage my household goods?? I asked to speak to the manager and he said he wasn't available. I called back to see if he was available and they declined my call or let it go to voicemail. I've attached pictures of the damage AND my phone call receipts. Absolutely DO NOT use this company to move. If you're here on their yelp page, leave. Trust me, they are not trustworthy. They also falsely advertise military discounts, my husband andI paid OVER $500 for the move. I have never dealt with such a TERRIBLE business. I will be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau and Attorney General of Virginia-Consumer Protection. *UPDATE: After writing this review, I was contacted by Kyle and he explained the process to me (which I would have explained that I already knew). I will up the review one star for the promptness of quality control. However, he said that there was no record of me calling, so I'm attaching a screenshot of my attempts. All calls over five seconds were when someone in the facility picked up, said "hello, thank you for calling," and when I started to speak, they promptly hung up. Please don't get me wrong, I am all for small businesses prospering, but as someone who comes from a family that owns a small business, and has worked and managed it for over ten years, I also know that customer service is the cornerstone and foundation. I need to move out of our current place in about a week and I've been super stressed and anxious since we've moved out here about seven months ago and the military moved us. I i messaged them on Yelp inquiring about their services because my husband and I need to move soon. They responded in a timely manner, but when I tried to ask them about the time on the day of my move, silence. So I called them three times over the phone and they answered...but hung up on me. If you can't do the work and we've been communicating, a simple "we won't be able to accommodate your time" is the proper way to go about the situation, wouldn't you think? They couldn't find my apartment when it came time to pick up the boxes, so they called me. I missed the call, but called them 10 minutes later and they were gone. They said they waited 15 minutes, even though I had the times of the calls on my phone. That would have been fine, things like this happen, but they were angry and blamed me and told me I would have to make an appointment on another day. When they finally did come they fined me for stains on some the boxes. YIKES, it would have been cheaper to just buy boxes and then throw them out. I was just trying to be green. When moving's such a headache, all you need is friendly service. I saw this company from MyTruckBuddy.com and thought this is perfect! I don't have a car, so picking up boxes would have been a pain. He delivered all the boxes on time and gave quick instructions on how to keep them in shape. I probably should have rented 2 or 3 more boxes thinking I didn't need so many... but really, the more boxes the better. I decreased the amounts on the studio numbers. You simply call them when you're ready for them to pick it up and they set a time to get them. They picked it up right on time and still with great customer service! read more

Rent Our Boxes was definitely the way to go. I wrung my hands for a while about how I was going to find/buy enough boxes and get them to my apartment without a car, and then I found, of all things, that it's possible to rent moving boxes. I learned about them through my movers at My Truck Buddy and it made all the difference. I had no idea how many boxes I would need, but they offer packages based on typical need for a certain size move, and sure enough I only had two boxes I didn't use after selecting the "studio" package. You can also purchase moving supplies when you rent the boxes. The total cost for renting 30 boxes plus pick-up and delivery was under $100. And the larger boxes were a lot more efficient than the small file boxes I usually purchase from an office supply store when I move. I was able to schedule delivery the day I wanted two weeks before my move. Here's the absolute best part: I wasn't sure how long it would take to unpack, so I never scheduled a pick-up (you can keep the boxes up to two months), but I was completely unpacked the day after I moved in and suddenly wanted the boxes out of my new apartment ASAP. I selfishly emailed the company late at night on a Sunday begging, but absolutely not expecting, a pick-up on Monday. So imagine my delight when they called early Monday afternoon and offered to come by about two and a half hours later and get them. And they actually did! What is even more interesting than the concept of Rent Our Boxes (ROB), is how the company actually came about. Let's say that Bill had the foresight to utilize a great idea from a bad experience. This company is really working together as a family and it rare to see any family business still able to sustain themselves during these times but ROB seems to be doing alright. Additionally, they know their business. I hope to see more blogs from them in the future. Moving Situation I have quite a large moving coming (3 bedroom, 3 lvl townhome in md to a 3 bedroom home in dc) and on top of that, my movers are going to a storage facility in addition to my new home on moving day. I ordered Med, Large and Wardrobe Boxes. Additionally, in my package were markers, tape, tape dispenser, bubble wrap and moving paper. Ordering: Easy, easy, easy. Ordered the boxes online and was able to adjust certain items that I wanted more of - I loved that! Immediately received a notification/receipt of my order. Prices: I did the cost comparison and ROB offers very reasonable rates. Special Requests: This category speaks to the quality of customer service I admire in this company. I was faced with a challenge regarding the boxes and Bill immediately came up with a solution that left me happy and satisfied. Drop Off: Bill was flexible and super easy to work with. His son dropped the boxes off and when you talk about a super nice young man...Bill ya did good. His son was very nice and worked with me as we counted the items together to make sure that all was accounted for. Pick up Well we are not there yet but I will be sure to follow up with my fellows Yelpers on how it went. Final Thoughts I place a very high value on what seems to be a rare commodity - - excellent customer service. I found out about Rent Our Boxes through my movers, My Truck Buddy, who recommended using them for a quicker, easier move. I was a little skeptical about renting boxes, since I had gotten through all my other moves with a cobbled-together collection of boxes from various sources (friends, liquor stores, etc). But I decided to give it a shot... anything to make moving easier, right? Rent Our Boxes definitely made my move much easier! I went with the "small" package for 1-2 bedroom apartments which included paper, packing tape, bubble wrap, etc. It saved me so much time -- instead of having to take multiple trips to Staples for boxes and other supplies, the stuff was delivered directly to my door. Bill, the owner, was the one who both dropped off the boxes and picked them up, and he was prompt and friendly. Some of the boxes had clearly been used before, but they were still in great shape and held up really well throughout the move. The movers really appreciated having a bunch of boxes that were of standard size, since it makes packing the truck easier. One major unexpected bonus? Forced unpacking! My BF and I have a bad habit of leaving things in boxes for months upon months... renting the boxes (you get them for two months but can call and keep them for longer, I believe) actually made us unpack so that we could return the boxes on time. Very easy and exceptionally well done. I ordered a bunch of boxes and other equipment on a Thursday night to be delivered Saturday, website is straight forward and didn't take long. Friday morning first thing I receive an email saying it's been prepared and they confirm times for the following day. Jimmy shows up at said time, and is wonderfully friendly and helpful. I was a little bit unsure about how to use a "rental" box but the boxes have nice instructions on them (i.e. Write on the tape, cut the tape here etc). We ordered the boxes online, received them with no problems, and then scheduled a pick-up when we were done. So, we did not need to find a place to store/dump all those boxes. Wow, where have these guys been all my life? The prices were fair and the guys were very communicative and friendly. They stopped by on short notice and delivered all the right pieces in one go -- 5 large boxes and 10 small boxes -- just enough for my personal belongings. I had grown concerned about pests hiding in the boxes, but Bill, the owner, explained that they put their boxes through sanitation processes: in the wintertime, the boxes spend months in the freezer, while in the summertime they are exposed to direct heat. Very impressive. All in all I paid about $30 for a ton of sturdy boxes, including free delivery and pick-up. I would definitely recommend using Rent Our Boxes for your next move. This is a great concept for people who are busy or don't have a large vehicle with which to transport cumbersome boxes. If you're environmentally conscious it's a good call since the boxes get reused rather than recycled or thrown out. As the name implies, you pay to rent the boxes during your move. They deliver the boxes and give you a couple simple rules (write only on the sealing tape of your boxes, use a box cutter to slice the tape rather than ripping it off) to ensure that they can be reused by the next customer. After your move is done and you are unpacked just give them a call and they'll come pick up the boxes. I had some complications with my move and it took nearly three weeks for me to get everything unpacked but it wasn't an issue at all and didn't affect the pricing in any way. The pricing was comparable with what I'd paid in the past for boxes at U-Haul or other truck rental places. It might be a little more expensive but the door-to-door service was nice. Also, the bubble wrap (which you obviously buy rather than rent) was priced pretty affordably. I decided to buy the sealing tape at Amazon since it was a bit cheaper though. The staff was friendly and professional and all around a great experience. If the pricing was a tad cheaper they'd be 5-stars for sure. read more

For only slightly more money than the world's-least-efficient errand (U-haul), Rent Our Boxes delivers to your door the sturdiest moving boxes around and then picks them up when you're done. That would be enough to recommend them. As an added bonus, the reuse the boxes to reduce the environmental footprint of your move. We had a great experience: easy to schedule on both ends, friendly and prompt delivery people, and a great product. My only complaint is that we didn't order enough boxes (our mistake) and had to run to the store last minute to get extras. I will reflect upon a time when I thought moving would be stressful and laugh at such foolishness. Rent Our Boxes is as convenient as it gets with your boxes being dropped off and picked-up at your old home and new home. And for the pretend environmentalists such as myself, you can feel good about re-using boxes and having them recycled again, for someone else to store their memories in. The boxes compared to other places are affordable for what you get (also I need to mention they are well made - double walled!). I had zero issues with moving my things in the boxes and my movers even commented at how organized and efficient the move was. Additionally, they have all of the materials you need in a one-stop shop and tips for packing fragile items on the site. I don't know about you but I'm usually a lets throw whatever is in my path into a box type of gal. This company is extremely professional and courteous. It's sad but I actually cannot think of another company that has been as responsive as this one has. I feel funny about going with 4 stars instead of 5 because I'm breaking the trend. I would give 4 1/2 but it was not an 'as good as it gets' experience. All the other reviews are spot on. My only complaint was that I requested 3 pickup times on Saturday (for Sun, Mon or Tuesday) and received 'auto' confirmation from the email. I received a human email confirmation Monday at 5pm for the Tuesday pickup. No doubt this is the busy period and / or they don't process stuff on weekends. But I would have preferred better communication / managed expectations about when they could pick up and / or get back to me with a confirmation. But I really got a great deal and liked the service. Great service! Went online and read their tips and recommendations on how many boxes I should order and things they can be used for. Ordered 3 wardrobe boxes for all my closet clothes and 2 wardrobe boxes for 2 table lamps. They worked great for that. Ordered 20 medium and 10 large boxes and some supplies for my small one-bedroom move. All were delivered by a friendly helpful guy and stacked where I directed him to stack them. I actually should have ordered more as I ended up having to bring home around 20 boxes from work and the day before move day I was putting items in trash cans and hampers to move it. They do offer a "top up" service if you find yourself running low. After my move I broke down all the boxes and leaned them against the wall. I then scheduled a pickup. You choose 3 days/times. They were picked up by another friendly guy. Overall a great service I recommend and will use again. read more

I strongly recommend anyone who expects their boxes to be provided anywhere near the date contracted for to STAY AWAY FROM THIS BUSINESS AT ALL COSTS. I ordered boxes on Thursday 4/10 for delivery on 4/11. Thursday night I received an email saying the boxes would be delivered on 4/12 because they were too busy to deliver them. (Delivering boxes, of course, being the business they are in.) On Monday 4/14 (today) I have left two voice mails asking where my boxes are. If you are moving yourself and don't care when or if your boxes get delivered, then by all means use these folks - I guess, anyway, since I've never seen any boxes. However, if you - like I - had hired people to put stuff in boxes and the boxes don't exist, you will be out a lot more money than the amount you paid for the vapor-boxes, and your entire moving schedule will be thrown off. I had never heard of Rent Your Boxes before - but I am so glad I used them. I placed an order online to rent moving boxes - and for a 1 bedroom apartment move, I spent about $75. They delivered 4 wardrobe boxes, 5 large boxes and 10 small boxes directly to my apartment along with a roll of packing tape. I assembled the boxes, packed and moved - then they came to my door to actually pick up the boxes once I had finished unpacking. It was SO smooth and seamless. I would recommend Rent Your Boxes to anyone who is limited on time and energy and can't go around hunting for moving boxes. I'd also recommend it to people who are cost conscience as renting boxes is cheaper than buying them from a moving company. I found out about Rent Our Boxes through a good friend of mine who used them to move this past summer. I moved to a small studio, so I ordered less than a dozen boxes (medium, large, and wardrobe-sized), but it was worth it to have someone come and collect them on the flip side because those large wardrobe boxes are cumbersome to manage alone. Plus, since everyone's always crowing about being greener, here's a company that actually has taken the recycling concept on as its business model. Remember Customer Service? Real, genuine customer service? Alive and well at Rent Our Boxes! I placed my order online and everything was seamless from there. Order delivered as scheduled. Wardrobe boxes come with sturdy metal bars you can easily fit into the grooves of the box. Instructions are clear-cut and detailed on the invoice (i.e., write on the boxes this way and only this way, what entails basic wear-and-tear, etc.) I left a message to schedule a pick-up and got a call back within 10 minutes from their general manager, Jimmy, who could not have been nicer or more helpful, and picked them up himself. I used rentyourboxes only because it had such good yelp reviews. Well deserved! This is SO easy and cheap I cannot believe everyone doesn't do this. The boxes are heavy duty and It was just $80 for boxes, bubble wrap, tape, wrapping paper, delivery and pick up. The website has this in a lot of cities but it seems like a very local business. The service is pretty unbelievable. I called on Friday afternoon, they delivered boxes on time Saturday morning, the guy was SUPER friendly. I'm also thrilled that this is at least a slightly better option for the environment. I spent $350 in boxes on my last move and eventually had to throw them away. Also - I asked him how they deal with bugs, mold, etc and he said they put the boxes in a freezer overnight after pick up! read more

Unbelievably good business idea and it worked like a charm. - Saved my time and effort not running around to buy or gather boxes a few at a time. - Saved time on the movers' end because the boxes were all consistently sized -- easier to move and load/unload - Made end of move a joy -- simply unpack, flatten boxes, and call for a pickup. Rent Our Boxes will deliver and pick up the boxes at your old and new place, they re-use and recycle the boxes so you're not creating a lot of new landfill content and they have excellent customer service. Over Christmas, the wooden bar in our storage closet broke due to the age & weight. We keep off season and other clothes there and the attachment at one end came off. We had not other place to put these clothes while we got the bar fixed. Rent Our Boxes was great! They came right away with 3 standard wardrobe boxes and one tall wardrobe box for long dresses. My wife felt very comfortable that her evening gowns and other clothes were hanging nicely and not getting wrinkled in a pile on a spare bed. What an ingenious service! As someone who likes to save a little money when I can but hates the hassle of trying to locate on Craigslist or raiding the local liquor store for free boxes, renting boxes was the perfect solution. I scheduled a delivery just days before I needed it and Jimmy was prompt in delivering boxes to me during my first requested time slot. This is a awesome business model and a great franchise with fantastic employees. They were punctual with the drop-off and pickup of the boxes. You can choose one of their packages online and customize to your needs. All my boxes, tape, bubble wrap cost me around $130. Buying the same stuff from Home Depot would be much more, especially when you factor in the cost of a Zipcar and the amount of time to drive to NE Washington to deal with the typically less-than-helpful Home Depot employees.
