His emphasis on doing just enough and not being competitive is wonderful. Even after 7 years with him, I still appreciate those reminders, as human frailty and age mean that you cannot do what you used to and you start looking at what others can do! The only drawback is the stairs you have to climb to get there. But, hey, there's your warm up! When I first came back to yoga I could not sit cross legged at all; my right leg was virtually upright. Now? I can sit crossing my legs boths ways. And, no, I don't pratise every day. It's virtually just the once a week class with Jay! (Don't tell him!) If you are unfit, play any repetitive sport (golf, tennis), sit at a computer all day, are stiff, have any specific problems or just want a workout that isn't loud, fast, furious, connected to TV/music, do give yoga a try. If you can't get to Jays' class try somewhere else. It really is the best excercise. xx

Wow, what can I say about Yoganova classes? Having met Yoganova's Emily a couple of times and been…read moreimpressed with both her infectious positivity and deep knowledge of yoga and the cultures from which it derives, I decided to start attending one of her classes last Spring. At the time, I was facing some difficult personal challenges and was feeling very depressed and anxious, and had been advised to try some light exercise. I quickly found that going to her class both temporarily distracted me from how bad I was feeling (because it was so engaging and fun), and also enabled me to return to 'the real world' with more optimism, clarity and strength and a more healthy, toned body almost as a by-product. Its been many months now that I've been attending the Kundalini Yoga class, which is a really active class utilising pop, Motown, disco and classic rock and dance music alongside beautiful, uplifting 'meditation music'. Its an absolute highlight of my week. Even on dark wet evenings when leaving the house again after work is really unappealing, if I make it to the class I return almost singing with joy, and with a profound sense of wellbeing and everything being 'okay'. Sometimes my muscles ache the next day but this usually takes me by surprise as I don't often realise how much I'm working them at the time I'm enjoying myself too much! That's not to say that Kundalini is just 'Yogaerobics' there's a meaningful side too and it also incorporates relaxation and meditation aspects to complement the physical work. Emily encourages everyone to work to their own level, but to challenge themselves within it. She invites us to connect with our 'inner selves' including our playfulness and positivity, but in a really accessible and down to earth way that never feels false or embarrassing. The Kundalini class raises energy but also leaves you feeling relaxed. And I'm always asking what this or that song was, so I can go home and download it! I'm trying to find time in my schedule to attend one of Yoganova's other, 'slower' classes, such as 'Candlelight Flow' because I know it will be well worth it. I haven't felt so well in a long time.

Good gym but absolutely appalling customer service. Because my bank doesn't support direct debits…read morethey wanted me to pay for the next month in advance by card, I said I wasn't sure I want to renew into January and they said the only alternative was to get a refund minus the two days that I've already used - at the day pass rate of £6+ per day!! Even though I've paid for December and a joining fee I can't use the gym!! Asked to speak to a supervisor and he said he is the supervisor, asked for a manager and he said he can't transfer the calls - so now got to wait for a manager to call back - and wanted to go to the gym this morning while it isn't too busy. Shocked at how bad the customer service is.

Can be too busy at times, but website has info on busiest times etc which is very useful. Could benefit from having more of the lower range dumbells, as it is usually very difficult to get hold of dumbells in the 10-14kg range. Also toilets are often smelly and flooded. I like this gym and will be keeping my membership for the forseeable future
