We had a great corner room 2 floors up so we had a nice view of the Rhine and the ancient city wall. This was our first stop in Germany on our first visit to the country,. The bathroom was a bit different. The shower is kind of cosy (the doors close into the corner furthest into the room and if not closed completely water gets all over the floor). Everything is tiled so it's not a problem. The room is large and comfortable. The bed is low and very firm but since we'd flown over from the US the previous night, it was perfectly comfortable to get a full night's sleep. This hotel is located at the north end of the town of Oberwesel so it is a great starting point to start walking to look at the ancient wall along the river or explore the town. We walked along the wall (it's got great walkways), up in the towers, then through town. When we returned we decided to dine in the restaurant for dinner. We were tired so close was better. As we were seated and placed our order, we noticed that all the other patrons were speaking German which is always a good sign. We didn't notice any foreign tourists (they're usually somewhat obvious). We ordered traditional German food and it was really tasty. Same for breakfast in the morning. Lots of Germans and good authentic (so I would assume) food. The family hosts were friendly and kind. The son was our server for dinner and spoke great English. The mother and (maybe) daughter took care of breakfast and spoke less well but still did a great job. We loved our visit here and would defiantly return again.

There is a restaurant, closed Monday and Tuesday, and a bistro that will be open Those days. A wonderful room with a juice and water minibar. The nicest bathroom I have ever seen and a view to put you back in time. There is a museum below in the Castle that is included in your stay along With a private garden and your own key access to the garden. Only one luggage rack in the room but we improvise. Fresh fruit and a crystal decanter of sherry waiting on the table in the sitting room. 2 glasses and chocolates. For a little while, this is our Castle and our Maserati is parked below in a safe spot. Dinner reservation in a few hours.

While the taste in design may not be my choice, the fact that the owner worked so hard to make sure each detail was decorated and clean made me feel very comfortable. Fatima is so warm and kind. She made sure that she could make us as happy as possible, which included running to the market to make sure we had fresh apples! The hotel was an affordable and convenient way to explore a beautiful and historic river town, and the region in general (parking is available if you have a car). At the end of each day of sightseeing, we bought some Riesling and snacks and enjoyed them in the beautiful garden. Our room was adjacent to a babbling brook, which was a lovely sound to lull you to sleep at night. Breakfast was great and was included in the room. Highly recommend!
