The house is gorgeous and located in a peaceful, quiet neighborhood just a short bus ride from Venice (about 20 minutes). The room is eat-off-the-floor clean with a large TV, 3 small tables, a mini refrigerator, and separate closet area. The bed is large and comfortable. The bathroom is large and lovely with what appear to be hand made tiles. There is a shower but no bath tub. The owners recommended a local restaurant, took us to buy our bus tickets, helped us plan our visit to Venice, and answered every question we could think of and more! Breakfast included juice, tea, fresh bread, fresh fruit, packaged cakes and crackers. We were also served fresh espresso and coffee, a homemade apple cake, and fresh jams made by the owners from fruits grown in their backyard! If we get the chance, without a doubt, we will come here for another visit!

But also if you come by plane and intend to stay at least 2 nights, especially in the summer. The B&B has a big garden with a great pool. There are more than enough seats, chairs and sun beds for all guests. There is a bus stop within 100 m of the premises. The bus takes you in 30 minutes from the relaxing environment in Vanessa House towards the busy center of Venice. There are 3 different rooms (2, 3 or 4 persons). All rooms have a very good air conditioning and a minibar (empty, so you can put it whatever you like) or a refrigerator. The building has a very solid construction so the noise isolation is perfect. The bath rooms are nicely decorated and extremely clean. The hosts Elena and Moreno are so friendly and helpfull that you feel immediately at home. Moreno picked us up at the Mestre station and brought us to the property. Then, he drove us to a shop where we could buy the bus tickets to Venice and the multiple day passes for the bus/vaporetto in Venice. Both will do everything they can to make make your stay enjoyable. We could even join them a couple of times to their favorite restaurant as this was a bit further from the house and somewhat too far to walk over there. They offer a nice breakfast and are open for suggestions or specific needs. Other guests who had a kid with milk allergy, got without special request Soya milk the next day for the youngster. After discussing Parmiggiano cheese one morning, the cheese suddenly appeared amongst the other cheeses for breakfast the next morning. Elena bakes almost every day a fresh cake which is highy recommended. If we go back to Venice in the fiture, it will for sure be in Vanessa House again.

We were only staying one night before we switched hotels, so we chose Citta di Milano. So this place is extremely hard to get to (like everything else in Venice). Once you're there, it's definitely not much to look at. HOWEVER, the check-in guy was the HOTTEST MAN I've ever seen in my life! Seriously, he was a classically good looking Italian man. Anyway, back to the hotel. The lobby is tiny, you have to climb up a bunch of stairs and the public toilets were kind of gross. Our room was kind of grim (yellow bedsheets, plain bathroom, old furniture) and was located on the 2nd floor. All in all, I was kind of disappointed with the room but sucked it up, because we were only there for one night. HOWEVER! We were traveling in March and didn't realize that there are mosquitos everywhere, but it's not time to turn on the air conditioner. On top of that, the staff had the heater in the bathroom on FULL BLAST and wouldn't turn it off when we asked. The result is an extremely stuffy room and disgusting room. We tried to make the best of it, but no dice. After a nap, we went downstairs to ask for a fan or something. The lady behind the counter spoke 0 English, and her solution was to change our rooms. The result? We had a master suite on the 1st floor! Lesson learned: If you stay at the Citta, stay in one of the meh rooms on the 2nd floor, then wait awhile and ask to switch to the first floor where it's possible to turn off the bathroom heaters. Absolute score, but I wouldn't stay here unless I had another one of those fancy rooms again.

We negotiated a good price and settled everything through Whats App. I paid and received an invoice and was told that it was non-refundable for any reason. We purchased air tickets (also non refundable) Less than a week before arriving, I receive a bizarre text that they have to cancel my reservations because a "family of 9" had covid in the building and they have to shut down for 14 days. Oddly enough, we have a friend staying there during the same time and the place is open and full. They obviously double booked or got a much better offer as prices are through the roof this Easter weekend and almost everything is booked up. They do not respond to phone calls or messages. We're stuck now with non refundable flights and no reasonable lodging options for our long planned vacation. Do not book here.

The staff is very friendly and accommodating, with a good command of english, for the most part. There is a charming little garden. The hotel has its own dock, which is very important if you are arriving with luggage- no need to haul it from the water taxi or Vaporetto stop, as I saw many poor souls doing. The location is good. Our room was probably one of the more modest ones, but it was fine. Staying in an older hotel usually means fewer electrical outlets than one might like, no modern desk and chair, etc. There is good free wi-fi (Yes!), modern bathrooms etc. There is no ice machine, but the staff will give you a bucket of ice upon request. The hotel has a good breakfast spread. There is a complementary bottle of Prosecco and fruit to greet you. The staff did make one mistake in calling the wrong water taxi when we were leaving, and that meant we had to pay again, even though we had a pre-paid voucher. When we wrote them about it and sent a copy of the receipt, they apologized and paid for it without argument. It was the right thing to do and they did it. If I am fortunate enough to return to Venice, I would happily stay here again.

The hotel prices are much more reasonable and Venice can be easily accessed by train or bus within 30 minutes or less. The Hotel is located reasonably central to the many restaurants, shops and bars and it is also close to the railway station and also buses to Venice Airport. It is located on a quiet residential area which meant a good nights sleep without outsider noise. It has to be said that this hotel is basic but rooms do have en-suite bathrooms, a colour TV, air conditioning and free wi-fi which is not something you always get at 5 star hotels for some reason! There are no meals available but a light continental breakfast is available-this is very basic as per most Italian breakfast offerings outside of the larger hotels but pastries, tea/coffees and juices were offered and breakfast seemed to be included in most of the room rates. The owners, who are welcoming and friendly, actually encouraged us to take breakfast one morning even though we had missed serving times an were on our way out for the day which was a good service. They speak a little English but the night porter-although friendly-spoke next to no English so with our limited Italian checking out early on the last morning to catch a flight and having to pay the bill by card was a little tricky so perhaps best to sort out the check out and billing with the owners during the day. I will give this 3 stars as a small hotel establishment not directly comparable with a larger hotel-when we next visit Venice and plan to stay in Mestre we would consider staying here again as well as shopping around for other options in the area.

It is a 5-10 minute walk from everything. We rented a two bedroom suite. In addition to these bedrooms, the sofa in the living room converted into a pullout bed. The unit also has two separate bathrooms and a little utility kitchen. Most importantly everything was clean and new. The appliances were modern, including the espresso machine which we used each morning (pods included). So, the place was modern and clean and had a good location. But it was also quaint. To enter the hotel, you walk through a private gate over a small bridge, through a heavy wooden door into a private courtyard. It feels like Venice used to be in terms of the stone and woodwork. You can also arrive to the front door of the hotel via Canal on a water taxi. The staff was super friendly. They brought croissants each morning, they helped with restaurant reservations (even walking with us to show us how to to) and they even took care of our laundry. The only consideration I offer is whether you prefer a large format hotel. My parents stayed at the Danieli and we liked IQ's better.

My friend booked a room with two double beds at this place, after hearing great things about it…read more When we arrived we found out there was a "hiccup" and our room number of 34 was changed to room 10. At first, we were ok with this as long as it was the same room. But when entering the room, we quickly discovered that this was the room for a handicapped person. In addition, the TV didn't work, one outlet was broken, and the heater in the bathroom couldn't be turned off, so it was constantly hot. We informed the front desk and they told us all the other rooms were sold out and couldn't change us to another room. A few hours later, they tell us a room opened up and they could move our stuff tomorrow to the original room we had. The new room was a total 360 from what we had before: everything worked, the decor was clean and pretty, and no heater in the bathroom. I'm thinking that they saw us two single women and bounced us out for the couples that frequent this place. In addition, we were told that the only way to get to the airport is to rent a car for around $95 per person. Um, no. We walked around the pier and found out that the water taxi for $15 euros per person takes you there in about an hour. If it wasn't for the suspectible room change, we would've enjoyed our time here. The location is great and quiet, but I highly doubt I would come here again.
