Been staying at Klippan for past 4 weeks now and it's a lovely overlooked part of town for me. Had lunch twice now at the Hotel Western and their shrimp.sandwich on dark rye bread is delicious and good value. 95kr for the small which is plenty bit if you really love shrimp go for the large portion at 195kr, still a deal compared to Gothia Tower's famous shrimp sandwich. The view in all seasons is fantastic looking to the left at the bridge and across at Färjenäs park and Eriksberg, the gentrified reclaimed waterfront area of Gothenberg. This morning we walked over to try their weekend brunch 130kr per person, also a fantastic deal compared to other buffets in town. It's a typical Swedish buffet, where you take small plates and different courses. Each table is set up with a selection: cold cuts and cheese, dairy with grains, breads, swedish pancales with strawberry jam and whipped cream. There was a jar of nutella to make it continental, I guess warm dishes with scrambled eggs, sausages, bacon, beans, ham. Fruit, lever pastej, vegetables, danishes, beverage counter with tea, coffee, juices including Swedish blåbãrssoppa, blueberry cold soup, like a fruit gazpacho and raw.juice shots. It's all you can eat, and again, the view is great so it invites a relaxed atmosphere to eat to your fill and then take a walk around the area after to digest. It's worth the tram ride out from the city center if you're staying in a hotel, or to meet friends who have to drive into the city, easy freeway access and lots of parking. Forgot to mention the friendly staff, something not to be taken for granted in Sweden. read more
