We stayed at Hotel Waldegg when visiting the tourist village of Lucerne and to take the trek up to the nearby Mt. Titlis. This hotel is dated, but rest assured, it is very clean. I think a good word to sum up this hotel is "retro". My favorite part was probably the retro elevator. It was literally an elevator probably dating back to the 1940's or '50s. The elevator didn't have doors, and you had to close the outer door by hand. My wife thought it was absolutely adorable. The door locks were also pretty low-tech too--no key cards, just a very large and heavy key (to my dismay). The room was very clean, but with torn carpet and an old CRT television. My favorite part of the hotel had to be the amazing view of the mountains from our balcony, and the crisp mountain air. There was no air conditioning inside the hotel room at all. But with all the comfortable temperatures, it really wasn't needed. The breakfast was VERY generic--yogurt, cereal, bread, juice....The usual. But as I came to figure out, all European breakfasts seem to always have the same items. Overall, a typical mountain top lodge, but still clean and comfortable. read more
