We LOVED this place! I really had no idea what this place was when we booked it, it looked like a hotel near the beach and that was all I cared about. But when we got there - wow - it's so much fun! It's like a cruise ship on land, events every hour, live music, lots of happy tipsy people, and food around every corner. We came with our 1 year old and he loved it, we could play in the sand all day, and he got to eat endless waffles at the breakfast buffet. The buffet food was very good, I'd stick to that if you've got young kids, otherwise the restaurants were very nice but you should try and book ahead if you come during the summer as the restaurant bookings go fast. The staff were beyond friendly, I'm pretty sure this was the best customer service I've ever had in Sweden. The spa is pretty small, but what was nice is they let us all bring the kids in to play in the pool since it was raining out one day. The rooms were so spacious and CLEAN!! My only tip! Bring beach towels! The towels from the room are tiny and need a million to use for before, during, and after the beach. Parking is onsite right outside the door of the hotel. Definitely coming back someday! read more

I had a dinner reservation yesterday evening at restaurant Tylöhus. Before dinner we had a beer at restaurant Salt. We arrived and the restaurant was filled with conference delegates sitting at extended tables. They were extremely loud, more or less shouting at each other. Not especially pleasant! However, we decided to stay, despite the shouting, and waited to be seated. We waited and waited, servers passing by not making any efforts..... After around 10 minutes waiting while a line of other guests had been built up behind us, we decided to leave! We left and returned to restaurant Salt and had a great evening with excellent food and service. Salt got a 5 star review from me and I will for sure return there next Summer! I will never return to Hotel Tylösand! read more

Very nice hotel rooms, spa and location next to the sea ! BUT BUT BUT the service in the restaurent was so bad !!! Waiters did hardly understand English, extremely slow in serving the food and almost ignore guest trying to get in contact with them for serving for more wine - we gave up on this is, the end. It was very sad to see such a nice hotel experience get ruined by bad waiter service - and to few waiters - probably students hired in. A hotel that this weekend had a very large conference/business group (150+) should not let private guests suffer for lack of capacity of waiters- then book less guests - we did pay quite a high price for our stay - not okey !! read more

We had a very relaxing stay at Hotel Tylösand. The spa and fitness area met our expectations! The rooms were clean and had everything we needed. We took a few fitness classes and the instructors were very nice and friendly. The view from the group fitness room was beautiful overlooking the beach. The spa area was mapped out nicely, also with big windows overlooking the sea. There was a large variety of activities and pleasant indoor and outdoor sitting areas. There were multiple pools (hot and cold), a sauna and steam room, a foot bath, showers, etc. we got excellent facials and massages. We thoroughly enjoyed all of the spa amenities! However, the dinner experience fell well under our expectations. The first night we went to the main restaurant. The ambiance was pleasant, the wait staff were friendly and spoke English, but the food wasn't anything to get excited about. We are vegan, and they were only able to give us one extra vegan option. It was a plate of roasted and prepared vegetables that was good, but we would have appreciated more options. In fact there were no vegan options on the menu, just a vegetarian risotto, and none of us like risotto. The second night we ate at Leif's cafe, which is also in the hotel. We were excited for their veggie burger and kale salad that was on the menu! Our waiter, however, did not speak English well along with most everyone else working that night. He was quite unfriendly and busy looking considering the restaurant wasn't that busy. It was difficult to even ask for a second drink. We grew impatient when our food hadn't arrived after nearly an hour! Most of the attention was given to the group next to us and the Swedish clientele. After reminding the waiter a few times and him getting annoyed at us, our food finally arrived. It was four vegan burgers with a cold bun, and it should not have taken an hour. We had to ask for the bill ourselves. The buffet breakfast offered a generous variety of sweet and savory, and we found lots of vegan milks, vegan yoghurts, veggies, hummus spread and gluten free options--amongst all the traditional fare. It was a nice change from dinner the night before. I am giving this four stars because everything was wonderful except the restaurant food and some of the wait staff. I would definitely recommend this hotel to friends with these caveats. read more

This review is for the Spa only. We booked massages for two and arrived 45 min early with the plan to shower and relax prior to our treatment. When we arrive we are told that since we are not guests of the hotel, we would not get access to the spa, only the treatment room! None of this was disclosed upon booking the appointment! A relaxing afternoon in what we hoped was the relaxation room and steam/sauna, turned into waiting on the beach until our appointment time. This is horrible customer service and so below international spa standards. We could not even pay extra to have access to the relaxation room only! BUYER BEWARE: Do not book a treatment here unless you are a hotel guest. Halmstad native visiting from the US only to be sorely disappointed. read more
