Great bar, nice selection of beers on tap. Love that you can just scan the QR code for appetizers to come to your table instead of having to go up to the bar, or flag down a server. We enjoyed a few orders of the calamari- tasted very fresh and served with a nice aioli sauce. Nachos, and a couple order of fries. They had the Women's World Cup soccer game on, so we were able to watch that as well as visit. We got a table right in the front by the big open doors, so we had a great view of Manly Beach and the beautiful colors of the sky as the sun started to set. Sorry no photos of the food, got sidetracked with the soccer game, and visiting with friends

It's confusing when first coming inside so I asked at a register what the process for ordering was. Pick a table and note the table number. Look at a menu then order and pay at the register, telling the order taker what your table number is. There's bar nearby, one of several, where you order and pay for drinks. The room where I was sitting was spacious with wide open windows fronting the beach and bringing in fresh breezes. It's noisy with kitchen sounds, background music and talking. Apparently this place had a bad rep for bad behavior once upon a time. All I saw were families and tourists having food and drinks. They do allow dogs here too. There's also outside seating. I ordered the classic Steyne burger with beef patty, cheese, tomato, lettuce, carmalized, onions, pickles, sauce and chips. It was huge and very tasty. I deconstructed it a bit to facilitate eating it and to avoid some of the bun. The chips(fries) were also very good. In fact, all the chips( fries) I have had in Australia have been great-- thick and not very greasy. For a casual lunch with great views, I'd come here again.

As a gentleman, and I use the term loosely, who has been kicked out of the old Steyne because his mate told the bouncers "I'm a lover, not a fighter", I rejoice at the new Steyne. Rejoice, I tell you! WAS: one of the NSW's violence hot-spots, top 10 if I recall correctly. IS: more family-friendly, with better food, and heaps more chilled out, bro. Oh sure you still see the odd Mumford and Sons floppy hat - this is Man-town, after all - and there are snapbacks and nut-huggers by the thousands, but overall it's a way more pleasant place to drizzank at on a Saturday night, and while it's lost some of the old man pub stylings in lieu of a trendy fitout, I'm an anomaly and that's what the people want so I can't begrudge them that. It would be churlish. Food is gastropub expenno, but that's par for the course these days. The garlic prawn pizza was a revelation after 50 shades of beer.

Formerly known as "The Drain" (possibly because of it's proud ranking as the number one most dangerous pub in New South Wales - what an achievement!), The Steyne Hotel is cleaning up its act. No longer does one see (very) frequent punch ups inside, or obnoxiously drunk young men and women. While The Steyne will never be Manly's classiest establishment, it's not pretending to be -there is no wanky wallpaper or cocktails in recycled jamjars; The Steyne knows exactly what it is - a pub for the masses. Luckily for the masses, there's a bit of variety within Draino (sorry, old habits die hard). Have a dance to the greatest hits of the 1990's downstairs, chill in the outside area with a beer, stand around the open fireplace - do not flirt so hard you throw the end of your scarf fetchingly into the flames, as I witnessed one girl do, have a cider or fifteen upstairs at the cider bar, watch a game in the sports bar, have a game of pool. As you can probably tell, The Steyne Hotel is a large premise. Occupying the prime real estate on the corner of the beachfront and The Corso, The Steyne is big enough to offer its patronage bingo, trivia, karaoke and live broadcasts of sports. While not everyone's cup of tea, The Steyne Hotel is a Manly institution, and is always busy on a Friday and a Saturday night.

Absolutely loved this hotel and the bars and restaurant in it. I wish I had a photo of some of the best coconut curry mussels I've ever had. We had a lovely experience at Steyne and didn't want to leave. It's aesthetically beautiful and oh so comfortable. The outdoor bars are intimate and fun while the menus have many good options to eat beachside.

"The Stain" showcasing one of the many useful applications for duct tape.

A "STAIN" on Manly's beaches..... Don't expect much with the accommodation. Do expect any feedback, complaint or concern raised to management to be be politely placated with arrogance - they are just too busy to care about their patron's satisfaction. My girlfriend and I stayed a night here and I would call it a character building experience ... This is more of a backpacker destination than a nice seaside haven on a romantic weekend. The accommodation facilities are simple. The room was clean. However, the state of the shared bathroom facilities was disconcerting... Wet towels and puddles on the floor and duct tape securing the shower head against the wall... tip: bring the flip flops for the bathroom unless you are content with stepping in "IT" barefoot... This definitely wasn't my kind of place. However, this accommodation may suit a young single lad that likes the convenience of having a bed upstairs from the party - no princesses unless they take the HTFU pills or are too intoxicated to notice. I also recommend that you have a skinful of ale, spirit or whatever your favourite poison may be before you attempt to sleep - particularly on a Friday or Saturday night. The place brought back memories of living in a frat house ... However , I recall the bathroom facilities being better in college than this place...

The chicken parmigiana

I've visited the steyne a bunch of times for meals and beers. The have gone through a renovation in recent years, so from the outside the steyne looks like your standard old school pub, but inside its had slightly more than a lick of paint, and the result is good. The bistro eating area has long tables which are great if you have a large crew to accommodate, and there are also booths along the window if you are lucky to score one you can enjoy your meal (liquid or solid) with a water view. Further to the rear (or core?) of the pub the space opens up into a beer garden with an open roof. The space has a cool vibe and they usually have live acoustic acts here during the afternoon. The pub grub from the bistro is pretty solid, if not slightly expensive. Beers are less than the CBD standard prices. The chicken parmy (a good indicator of a bistros investment in its food) is good, with a decent thick crumbed fillet of chicken, ample topping and steak fries. Upstairs there is a whiskey/cocktail bar so you can mix up your inebriation solution should you desire. Easy to find overlooking the beach at the opposite end of the mall which runs down to the manly ferry.

Great pub because of all the different areas. It's very big, and has a room for every mood. Sports bar with big-screen TVs, long tables for groups, smaller booths, tall tables with stools, and a smokers' open courtyard. Best of all is the cocktail bar upstairs, with balconies that let you look out over Manly Beach. Every room is cozy, lots of wood with a few comfortable touches. It's certainly not precious. There's music here and there, a few areas to order food from both downstairs and up. And location is prime, of course, right on the corner of the Corso and the beach. Lots of regular and some local beers on tap. Wine list is passable.

Brewery to pub ..... !!! Out of control ....

When in Manly !! ....... it's a Northside institution ..... it's big with plenty of room to swing a big cat !! Lots of bars .... pick your mood and jump in ..... lots of great beers, wines, ciders & spirits on offer ..... and the food very well presented and yummy to boot. I found the staff quite charming ..... friendly and very helpful. As the night drags on ..... a nightclub upstairs...... it's got something for everyone ..... mates, families, groups , singles .... couples ..... with views across to the beach ..... why not sit and watch the world go by !

Really poor lunchtime meal. Over priced & miserable staff. It's hard to make a bad pizza but they sure nailed that here. Never again.

We got a suite (2 bedrooms) and the room itself was nice. The master and the living room overlooked the ocean (obstructed by trees though) and the second bedroom with two twin beds overlooked another hotel with a slight ocean view. The kitchen area was OK - it had a fridge and a microwave. There were two bathrooms and one of them had a shower where the door doesn't go completely to the floor (read: very wet bathroom floor). The hotel itself is nice and the staff is nice as well, but there are very few perks. The rooftop pool is very tiny and has AstroTurf which gets REALLY hot in the sun. Additionally, the WiFi isn't free and the paid WiFi is still iffy at best. You can send texts / emails / iMessages but you can't send pictures or watch videos. There's no way I could work from my laptop, either. There is no complimentary coffee but there is a breakfast buffet. We didn't try it but it looked nice - there was a big organic table with fresh honeycomb. You get a discount if you are staying at the hotel. The main draw of this hotel is its proximity to the wharf, the corso, restaurants, and the beach. Everything we did was in quick walking distance. All in all, the hotel was OK - wouldn't recommend nor discourage.

We watched the cooks prep for our food and it was handed to us fresh off the stove. Food wise, the portion size is simply enormous and we couldn't finish the takeout box despite lots of walking during the day. But that doesn't sacrifice the quality. The salt and pepper squid was on point, yet not overpowering. The deep fried prawns was simply perfect. You can taste the freshness of the prawn just underneath the deep fried batter. Fish was cooked beautifully and didn't fall apart easily when you slice through it. It's already 5 star experience and I would have given a bonus point to the restaurant for having biodegradable wooden takeout cuttery.

Visited by Long time friends and new acquaintances. Ivan loves it's Wednesday burger days at 12.50 for a meal. Our trio choose the second floor because the first floor is quite dark but the outside deck is stunningly sunny with wall greenery, flat screen TVs, heaps room, and funky wicker decor. Our burgers arrive swiftly- having come from, I understand the cleanest kitchen in the business. Chips are salty and crunchy and meat has been cooked to preference. My 'beef' with this burger is the size of bun to patty and the taste of the meat. Bun is too big and each time I bite-sauce and bits fall out. And the meat has a game-y flavour. Is it weird to say "animaly"? Not the best burger I've had but the kitchen does offer a huge array of options and I'd eat here again
