Conveniently located across the street from Oktoberfest, a friend and I stayed at this historic hotel for four nights to take in the event. Originally built in 1897, it was reportedly last renovated in 2010. The door lock is old-fashioned, with the key required to lock it from inside.
There is little room to walk around the beds. The twin beds and sheets are wide enough to get by, but not ideal. The TV overhangs a nightstand in a way that risks hitting your head on its thin edge--which, unfortunately, happened to me and caused superficial bleeding.
The bathroom window of our room is located behind the bench near the hotel entrance, where people like to sit and smoke cigarettes. Consequently, the secondhand smoke leaks into the bathroom, especially if you crack it open. When taking a shower, the mirror gets fogged up, regardless.
We enjoyed the daily self-serve breakfast buffet on the second floor. The food quality is better than the comparable fare in U.S. hotels. With my vegan diet, I abstained from the sausages, meats, and cheeses. However, I had a variety of German grain breads, pretzels, nuts, fruits, and coffee. It's also interesting to see the variety of nationals and tourists sharing the small dining space overlooking the street. read more
