In our state if you have even 1 eviction notice for any reason especially now a days, places won't rent to you and Independent places are always so odd! We just don't trust them! The only other thing about motels and hotels that we can appreciate is not being bound by a contract to have to give a notice! We can just up and leave instead of pay again! It's basically month to month! It was nice because when we got our stimulus check, we used it to quickly get away! For the first part of our stay, it wasn't bad! It seemed okay! We liked that most of the tenants there didn't get into our business! But once my stalker found out where we lived, that changed everything about our comfort and stay!! There was also a cleanliness issue we had here! Bugs which we used bug bombs on and it didn't seem to matter! I also think there was mold in spots! When it ended up in our tub and I felt uncomfortable even taking a bath, that was when we realized this wasn't going to work long term! If you like cleanliness or decent looking stuff then maybe their dailys are better? I don't know because I only ever stayed in the monthly room! They are different too!! Plus they don't take debit, cash only and if you are staying here, I do NOT recommend using their mail system! We have had our mail tampered with and some of it was stolen! They don't take responsibility for any of that and they just usually put it out for everybody as a free for all! If you ask about it at all, they say you are being trouble! At least her son did when we talked to them about it! He was pretty rude too and got right into my husband's face! I had to get between them so nothing happened! I was willing to take anything he was going to do! All I wanted was for the right to be right and they never cared when we had problems! His mom helped us a time or two when we had car issues usually because of my stalker and they helped us with the AC, which we ended up paying for and they charged an extra $50 because we like it to be cool in the summertime and had it flowing too much was how they thought of it I guess! So if you just don't mind a very warm climate, you won't get charged extra! We appreciate a nice area that has air at least! And don't ever bring the police into things! They get kinda jumpy when it's not our fault or people around us are being loud and making sexual moaning sounds at upteen hours in the morning, darn straight the cops will be called!! Or when people bring their children and allow them to go off on their own in next to nothing! So, maybe we were trouble to them! Yes, because it's not right!! Right should be right and wrong should be wrong!! The only reason I give 2 stars at all was because of the few times they helped us!! Other wise, don't expect much and keep to yourself and you will be okay! Otherwise, if you're can go to a Choice Hotel! We finally got a place with a clean room and even room service! It's so much nicer plus we love the area! Well, if you have any questions, feel free to write me! Otherwise, I have stated my peace! This is how we both feel, no one will change our minds.

Respectfully, if the hotel industry weren't as challenged as it is right now due to COVID, I'd have requested my reservation be cancelled due to how wildly deceptive the modern-looking photos on their website depict this hotel and how drastically tired it is in person, despite an apparent renovation to [just barely] bring it up to the newer SpringHill brand language. The front desk agent was friendly enough and I appreciated the mobile check-in ability, but that's about where modernity ends here: the popcorn ceiling and textured walls harken to an airport Ramada of day's gone by, the single elevator was so slow it was just easier to take the stairs, and the breakfast area is far too small to support the size of the hotel, which at present, doesn't matter- they're still not offering breakfast (just grab and go). The pool and fitness center must be reserved in 45 minute increments, as well. While I appreciate the abundance of caution, it is frustrating that these limitations (which are quite inconsistent from hotel-to-hotel) were not called out on their website almost a year into the pandemic. The two double bed suite was an awkward layout. More than two people would be very uncomfortable in here for a stay more than one night (there's also basically no storage). While the living room is large with a nice wet bar and mini kitchen, the one TV straddling the two rooms was a shoddy choice when most SpringHill have one in each room. There are also exactly zero outlets available on or behind the nightstand. Pullout sofabed (trundle style) was also something I've not seen before. Props for the uniqueness (and it was West Elm!) The bathroom fan was louder than an airplane taking off (and was caked in dust), there were odd stains behind the toilet, and the ceiling tile in the hallway is a clear indicator that this hotel was flipped on the cheap. While I have no doubt the staff makes the most of the property and I had a pleasant experience with everyone, the actual reality of this hotel relative to photos online feels very much like a bait and switch. I realize this might be overly harsh: the beds were comfortable, the hotel was clean, and it's not a "bad" hotel, but it's also not structurally where it needs to be for this brand. Spend a little more money and stay somewhere else.

While the stay was great, there were a few cons. The hotel had a smell to it. I can't entirely explain what that smell was, maybe a musty smell? Our neighbors were loud, but they were enjoying their bachelorette party, so no big deal. The restaurant on sight was closed and there was no breakfast offered. They also charged a $50 per night extra charge which took six days to go back to my card. Overall, I would come back again if it weren't for the $50 extra per night charge.

I fell asleep tired went down to the desk again after my husband called they said they cannot move us because my husband was being rude on the phone and she was not having him talk to her like that . He called again and she answered and then hung up saying he was being rude again . I informed her he doesn't need to be rude , he is just trying to get his family into a new room. She then proceeded to tell me we're grown woman band she can't help me , because her manager said we can't help anyone who is being rude . I then asked so we can't get another room . She said no , I said with no hot water and a tub not draining . She kept saying she just works there and she's. Not the boss .She said no , I walked away . She obviously brought her problems to work with her and was frustrated about something . But I would be remiss if I did not share my experience at the Embassy Suites in Grand Rapids, the downtown location. Located across from the Grand River, just barely outside the heart of downtown (that congested, no parking to be found, crazy busy section), yet still only minutes from it. Parking was $25 a night, much less than the $40+ for hotels located in the "heart." A big clean and bright lobby with a fun water feature greets you as you enter. A friendly staff member checked us in, though contactless check-in is an option. There is a Starbucks near the elevators if you need your fix, a nice amenity. Our room was immaculate, with a balcony and view of the river, a random lucky assignment. Nice big flat screen televisions, preloaded with streaming apps (they automatically sign you out upon check-out), so we watched our favs. Beds were very comfy, we both slept well, so that is a high mark in itself. Walk-in shower with cascading ceiling shower head and hand held shower wand to the side (I absolutely loved this shower, my fav of all hotels we've stayed). Massive sliding door separated the bathroom and seating/desk area from the bedroom. Perfect since my hubby wakes up early to work on his laptop, so no bright lights waking me up. Then there was the happy hour. Snacks, like hummus, pretzels, nuts and more, plus two drinks each, gratis. A charge for premium drinks, in case the freebies were not what you wanted. Then there was breakfast. We assumed it would be something we had to pay for, with the custom omelette station and all the options they offered, but it was included. I am not an omelette person, but these omelettes were amazing. I chose the egg white with mushrooms, spinach and cheese, while hubby had the Daily Special, with chorizo and hatch chilies. If you think an egg white omelette cannot be delicious, the ones here will change your mind. And my husband's was also outstanding! The chefs were friendly, even after making omelettes non-stop for well over a couple hours. I just can't say enough good things about those omelettes. Now the other prepared foods were hit and miss. They offered a large selection of hot and cold breakfast foods as well. The old fashioned rolled oats oatmeal was slightly under cooked and the scrambled eggs and diced potatoes were also nothing to write home about. But the sausage, crispy bacon and fluffy French toast were quite yummy. I saw yogurt and fruit, as well as muffins and other items, which looked good, but we didn't try. But coffee was good. We are already planning a Grand Rapids escape now, with a stay at this hotel as the cornerstone of our visit. Did I mention there is also a pool? Im just so happy we discovered this hotel, will be our go to whenever we need to stay over in GR!
