From the personalized greeting gift and custom welcome plaque to the warm welcome by the owner, we felt as if our arrival had been excitedly anticipated. This was to be our vacation home for the next several days. Our large suite consisted of a luxurious sleeping room with an attached sitting area for relaxing and reading. The beautiful decorations and artwork, sumptuous bedding, personal fridge and microwave, plus a beautiful work desk are only a partial description of our vacation domain. The bathroom had a roomy jetted tub and spacious shower, along with personal robes, plentiful linen and thoughtfully included toiletries in case we had forgotten anything. Take a look on their website to see what I mean. Ours was a very personalized experience. Guests never feel crowded, because Bellissimo's offers just 3 suites in the main building, one detached casita off the private pool plus an amazing and huge penthouse suite located on the very top level. We also spent time visiting with Linda, the creator and proprietor of this mini-resort, and were amazed at the detail and extra touch that were included in the design and development of the boutique hotel. Each morning we were served a masterpiece breakfast consisting of bountiful fresh fruit dishes, plus master-chef entrees of omelets or any of a number of other custom cooked specialties. Bellissimo's is located in the historic center of Ajijic, a one-time fishing village on the shore of Lake Chapala. It is just an 8-minute stroll from the hotel to the lakeshore walk, which features small outdoor markets, restaurants and picnic areas where local families mix with visitors in a most friendly setting. Ajijic is about a 40-minute drive from Guadalajara, the 2nd largest city in Mexico. This was our first, but definitely not our last visit to Bellissimo's.

We found the place empty with only two rooms occupied. The second night we where the only ones in the entire place. The morning of Thursday we where told that some thing had happened and they could not serve us our breakfast as ordered, I figured it was not of value to them to have the cook come in to make breakfast for just us. The following day there was lots of rain and rain entered the room (208) and it wet a number of items in the room, including a decorative pillow. The staff did not catch the pillow drenched in water nada the pillow was placed on the bed. We arrived late and found the all beddings where wet. We asked for help to have it all changed and Fernando was very helpful and handled it in the most respectful manner. The following day we decided we where going to have dinner in the Hotels out door dining area. We where told the kitchen closed at 7pm, via phone and via text. When we arrived I had to ask the server for the menu and that's when she mentioned the kitchen being closed. I was upset! That was strike 3! I'm in the service industry and one of the most important things when managing a team is communication. I see a lack of communication with this team and management. Also, management never stepped in to afford an apology or a conversation. We will probably give Thai place a send change but till then 2 stars.

The "water park" was huge with many pools, slides, seating and restaurants. This is more of a park for children, not huge water slides for adults. Of note, the daily admission fee on their website was not correct (we paid more to gain entrance into the water park, I believe around $23 USD per person. They accept credit cards or cash. I recommend that you bring flip flops (or shower shoes) and your own towels (I believe you can rent towels for an additional fee). You can also bring your own food and drink but NO GLASS. Security will check for glass before entering. If you want to access the spa, you go to the back to pay for the spa area and any requested treatments such as massages. We paid for 2 hours 10 minutes of spa treatments, during which time they rotate you through 6 hot pools (apple cider vinegar, flowers, minerals, oatmeal, treatment of the day (coffee today) and mud). There are also 3 inhalation therapies and 2 steam treatment rooms to enter. They give you purified water and also had some teas that I did not try. I also paid extra for a deep tissue massage right next to the beach, which was very relaxing after soaking in the spa pools. We also had wine and lunch at the seafood restaurant on site and both the alcohol and food were good. Please note, you will be more comfortable here if you speak Spanish. There were a few people who spoke English but not many. This appears to be a destination for Mexican families predominantly. We felt welcome and safe.

La mitad de nuestro grupo se tuvo que ir a otro hotel por falta de tener cuartos limpios. Por el precio de cada cuarto yo viera esperado un poco más de calidad. Los cuartos estaban muy simples y los baños asequeroso.
