The Resturant is downstairs in courtyard. The food is good and not expensive. We found it very reasonable. It is a great place just to sit and relax. We always do a lot of walking a d streets are narrow a d cobblestone. It makes it nice just to come back and rest before heading out again. If you get a room on street example 115 , it can be very noisy . We travel for Dia De Los Muertos the plaza is full of festivities. If you prefer a quieter area get inside upstairs. We love the area, the staff and accommodations. We found families can rent houses but you are too far out unless you have a car. Parking is tough and taxis have to be called of in residential areas. This works perfect for our needs

The atmosphere was beautiful and the staff were kind and attentive. The pasta with pistachio cream and Meyer lemon was sublime as was the guacamole salad. We had a bottle of local wine and topped off the meal with lemon sorbet. We hate going to the same place twice while on vacation in fear of missing something else, but we MUST go back. A+

The place didn't have other guests but we got an suite down below, so no views for us to enjoy and it was rather cold, didn't enjoy it and felt isolated. Like a freak in the basement, LOL. The owners were missing in action on the last few days of our stay and left a relative instead who was having guests over, having her own party on the premises. We had to look for the employee to get breakfast in the morning, felt like we weren't taken care of. A tad too laid back. Food was decent for breakfast, small menu, but a few choices for a warm meal. Staff was nice, could have been more attentive. Wish we wouldn't have had these issues and the stay would have been more pleasant.

I paid more for three nights there than I pay for a month's rent in one of the most expensive zip codes in the Bay Area. In fact, when I swiped my Visa card at the front desk, a guy from JP Morgan called me and said "hey, before I approve this charge, are you SURE? There are cheaper four star hotels just down the block." Despite the bone-chilling prices at this place -- in a developing country, no less, which seems slightly morally obscene -- it was worth every peso. The Rosewood SMA is iconic. Immaculate. Gorgeous. I stayed there with my dad, who despite growing up In SoCal had only been to Mexico once before, and that was to Tijuana. Yea, Teeejuaaaanaaa. But the Rosewood SMA was, to put it lightly, the most delightful foil to TJ. The rooms are exquisite, right down to the deliciously cozy bath sheets. Service was super-personalized; the concierge, Miguel, made us feel right at home and even suffered my Spanglish with a smile. I spent way too much time by the pool(s), which are clean and lightly chlorinated. My dad had a massage which he commented was one of the best in his life. And we made sure to head up to the rooftop every evening for mezcal and sunset, a can't-be-missed experience. I've stayed at a lot of hotels. But this place takes the cake. My financial advisor may never allow me to stay here again but I don't regret a bit the lifetime memories my Rosewood stay gave me and my dad.

We quietly experienced a marvelous Burrito Ranchero and Chilaquiles Verde con Huevo along with, what else, a Matlateco and a Mojito. A splendid way to start a splendid day in a splendid town. Highly recommended for first eats if you're staying on the west end of town - regardless, it's a terrific spot for any meal or any imbibing! Kudos to the staff.
