The air conditioning worked great in hot July. The location couldn't be more perfect, right across the street from the castle and the main piazza. The innkeepers spoke enough English to get us checked in and make a few local recommendations, but I will work more on my Italian lessons for next time! The included breakfasts were so nice, lots of pastries, juices, and made to order cappuccinos. Honestly, this part of our trip was a dream, and I can't wait to come back.

Ask for a room on the top floor as they are quieter - not so much from outside noise (the motorcycles and mopeds can always be heard), but from the late night antics of other patrons that will happen from time to time. Hey, Parma is a romantic city! There is typical Italian parking in front of and behind the hotel (= tiny places), but I always had plenty of room to maneuver a 5 series bimmer. The Venetian chandeliers are very beautiful making this a nice, small boutique hotel from which to base your business or tourist trip.

It is quiet impressive, I didn't exactly expect it to be mansion like but it was to some degree. The rooms and bathrooms were very spacious. There was a grand staircase and chandeliers everywhere, including in the bedroom. My room had two showers, I guess for couples to shower together. It was an interesting concept although we never put it to use. The only complaint is that the water from the open shower doesn't drain properly, In the morning there is still a puddle of water where the shower curtain is. I think this is a problem with a lot of minimalist showers though so I won't penalize this place for it. Lots of toiletries, which is always a plus even if I don't end up using all of it. Service was great. Two attendants were sent to help us with our luggage upon arrival. The front desk was helpful in assisting us in making restaurant reservations and calling a taxi upon our departure. Breakfast was situated in a beautiful room, unfortunately we had to catch an early train and didn't get to fully enjoy the view. The location is about 5 minutes away from the train station by taxi, which is convenient. Parma is a really small city. Everything is walkable, at least the places tourists want to go anyways. I highly recommend this hotel if you are staying in Parma!

Check-in was effortless and the staff throughout were an absolute pleasure. The lobby is clean and has a nice sized lounge area. The room was nice but the bed had a lot to be desired. The pillows, too. King beds should have king pillows but stacking enough pillows up I made due. Also, as American living in Europe for just 7 months so far, I know that air conditioning is scarce in most places though I've found it available in hotels. Arriving right after Easter, the A/C in the rooms and the hotel wasn't turned on yet. I was provided a fan that seems like it's had better days. On my last 3 days, the A/C was switched on and sleeping was so much better! Breakfast was included but was nothing to celebrate. Fruits, cereals, yogurt, and sliced meats and cheeses. It's free so I'm grateful but you won't be satiated. Lastly, my trip was extended by a few days and I needed to do a bit of laundry. The hotel doesn't have laundry machines but do offer a service albeit expensive. Pros: excellent staff, free breakfast, nice room, good location Cons: A/C may or may not be on, paltry breakfast, no laundry on site. I'd totally stay again for points but if I wanted luxury I'd find somewhere else.

CON: * Gym is available, BUT it is open only from 0700-2300 (11:00pm); minimal equipment - will have to do push-ups, burpies, etc in your room * Typical European room in that there is no clock radio so ensure that you use your phone to wake up in time It is located in a semi-industrial area so it is quiet during the night. I was on the military posts during the day so do not know what is around the area. If visiting Vicenza, AC Marriott is a known quality property to stay with comfortable rooms and accommodations.
