Looking out our balcony.
Terry F.

We enjoyed our stay here very much. We arrived before the 4pm check in time but were able to get to our room. We had room 320, which had a balcony. The bed was comfortable and the balcony very cute. It did get noisy at night but honestly it didn't bother me. I was so tired from running around all day that I fell asleep with no problem (surprisingly). The noise bothered my husband a bit more but he still did ok. The location was perfect. It made our stay wonderful. I would like to stay here again next time we come back to NOLA.

Dirty ironing board

Disgusting & Unacceptable - Avoid at ALL costs Hotel Mazarin was filthy. Our client's first room was dirty and smelled bad, and the ironing board was visibly covered in stains. Even worse, the hair dryer had a sticky residue on it like dried honey. Completely unsanitary. We advocated for a room switch, only to find the second room was also dirty and smelly. This clearly isn't a one-off issue, it is a cleanliness problem across the hotel. To make matters worse, we later learned that our colleague's room also had no heat overnight. When they called the front desk around 1:00am, they were told that the on-call maintenance person was not available. A room switch was offered at nearly 2:00am which was not a real or viable solution. Between the filth, the smells, and the lack of basic operational support, this hotel is poorly managed and not worth the time or money. Boutique branding is NOT an excuse for dirty rooms or leaving guests without heat. Do better. There are countless better options in New Orleans. DO NOT STAY HERE!!

Stayed for 2 nights, 3 days and it was not enjoyable. The rooms were extremely humid and the bathroom fan did not work in either room we stayed in. The first room filled with fog from the bathroom for hours and there was mold traveling up the walls. The windows do not open, and they do not have fans onsite, so we had to prop the door open. The room itself was also filthy, we had something drop under the bed and when I went to pick it up, I almost gagged. The baseboards were covered in grime and mold, and the bed frame between the mattress had seen years of bacteria without cleaning. They were kind enough to move us to another room at no cost, but again that room's bathroom fan did not work and there was little to no ventilation. With that being said, the granite/quartz floors were slippery with condensation causing one of my guests to fall. There was no microwave, the fridge buzzed loudly, and most of the furniture was run down and broken. Overall, the location was great with walking distance to everything, 11 minutes from the Aquarium, 1 minute to the Mardi Gras celebrations and restaurants, but the actual quality of the rooms was lackluster and not worth the price. The view, location, and kind staff, were the only reasons I put 2 stars.

Another bar hour proof

My boyfriend and I just stayed at this hotel for a few nights and honestly I would not recommend. We won't be staying again. The first issue came with Valet. We prepaid for the valet and it was an absolute nightmare trying to get in. The staff member Joey was amazing he was doing his best and it wasn't his fault, but the time it took was ridiculous. From the awful valet experience the front desk said sorry for difficulty with valet and gave us two free drink vouchers. We tried to redeem them twice and it did not work. It was beyond disappointing. First time we tried was last night and my boyfriend went (and others were inside the bar so it appeared open) and the bartender said the bar was closed even though the hours online said open till 1am. She was really nice about letting him know that the bar closes at 11pm. In the bottom of the post I screenshotted the different hours posted on two different websites. So we were under the impression the bar is open till 1am. So we decided to go the on our last day today after walking around town. We were very hot and wanted to use the restroom downstairs and get a drink. Only to find that the entire courtyard, bar, and the side area to the bar was completely closed off for a party. We tried to ask today's bartender if we can just redeem our drink vouchers and leave since we didn't realize this entire space including the bar was completely closed off to staying guests as well. She said no and was honestly incredibly rude about it, she said we can try tomorrow and that all day and night these areas are closed for the event. We also weren't even allowed to use the any of the restrooms around the lobby. We had no idea these spaces were gonna be closed. The front desk ended up taking us across the parking lot to a different street to try that bar for our vouchers which was very nice, but the bar wasn't open. We ended up giving up on that. But, the amenities of the hotel being closed off for an entire day with no warning for paying guests is honestly ridiculous and the bar hour confusion is disappointing. Not to mention, the room was honestly not very clean. Our sheets were stained with some red substance, there were several bugs, and the room (especially the shower) had a very gross smell that wouldn't go away. Also, the amenities in our room didn't work especially the lamps and makeup mirror. Several lights/lamps just wouldn't turn on and during the middle of our stay our room keys just randomly stopped working. We had to talk to the front desk about it because we couldn't use them to unlock any doors. We were lucky enough that that this happened mid-day and not at night. As well as, the WiFi really did not work. It was pretty bad and kept disconnecting. The main good thing about this place is the location is great and some of the staff are nice, but honestly would recommend just staying elsewhere.

Booking confirmation
April D.

William at the front desk was absolutely horrible and disrespectful. We had a reservation and were there to check in and he turned away my young daughter who was alone in an unfamiliar city. He said they were fully booked even though we had a confirmation number. Also, guests still had not arrived and rooms were vacant but he would not accommodate her. I asked to speak to a manager and he wouldn't he get one or call one. Don't stay here!!!

Complimentary glass of wine upon arrival.

Friendly staff and great location!! Our first time here at this hotel and Sonja at the front desk, made us feel welcomed and gave us some wonderful recommendations on places to eat and listen to Jazz . There is also 24 hrs security at the lobby too, and Crystal was on watch the evening we arrived. She was gracious to show us to the bar where they provided us a complimentary drink at this hotel. Thank you Crystal. Our room was above the courtyard and was spacious and clean. We had towels and bed service each day during our stay. We couldn't be happier with this hotel. Sonja even shared with us some homemade pralines she had one evening too. Everything is very close by and easy to navigate to. We certainly would return here to this hotel on future visits, because it faces away from the noise , but steps from Bourbon Street. Thank you , thank you for making our 5 day stay here so much fun!!!

Great location, great price, great staff, and great views if you choose the garden. We spent two nights, one before and one after a cruise with Carnival. We arrived in town a few hours before checking and the accommodated us wonderfully! They had a room ready and waiting for us 2 hours before checking in! Then upon arriving back from our cruise we arrived back and port and off the boat by 8:30 am. Our plan was to check our bags in and walk around until check in. The man at the front desk said absolutely not, checked us in upon arrival at 9 am at no extra cost, and allowed my boys and I to rest from the lack of sleep we had from the night before because of rocky seas. This hotel is the personification of "if you respect the staff they will respect you"! Like all old buildings and those that have seen the hurricane in 2005, the hotel has its issues. We did have toilet running and cold shower issues, but to me this was a small price to pay for the respect and kindness the staff showed us during our stay! I highly recommend and hands down one of the best hotels in NOLA. This is my new hotel whenever I stay in New Orleans going forward!

Paint in the room was chipping, mattress was stained, but overall these were things we could ignore. However, something we couldn't ignore while using the bathroom in the middle of our first night, was that we found we weren't alone. There were 3+ cockroaches hanging out near the tub and a few scurried away before we could kill/photograph them. The next morning we went to the front desk, got our refund and switched hotels. Front desk staff was AWESOME, so kind and quick to help us. However, after we asked to cancel our stay and went back up to the room to get our bags and leave, one of the hotel housekeepers decided to come up to our room and "confront us". She wanted us to show her the cockroaches (that we had killed and flushed) and tried telling us she's never seen a cockroach at Hotel Le Marais before, basically calling us liars. Lol, well, here's some pictures to prove it. Let's ask the audience. Positives: The front desk staff was exceptional. Very helpful, very kind and knowledgeable. It's located close to Bourbon and has a nice courtyard. Negatives: ROACHES IN THE ROOMS, confrontational housekeeper, thin walls.

We booked this hotel based on the Yelp & Google reviews and Reddit recommendations…read more The only PRO of staying here is the location. It is very conveniently located to Bourbon Street. The 2 things I care most about when staying in a hotel is a comfortable night's rest and a good bathroom/shower. The bed in our room was the most uncomfortable mattress I have ever slept on in my entire life. It was so mushy that when you laid your head down, you sunk so far into it that your legs were literally 45 degrees above your head. I ended up sleeping upside down in the bed with my head where your feet go in order to feel even remotely comfortable. The pillows were all extremely flat, when you put your head on one it sank so far your face was about 1/2 inch from the mattress. I had to use 3 pillows stacked on each other. I had a stiff back, neck and joints the entire time we were there. The 2nd issue was hot water. The first morning, we attempted to shower, it only got barely luke warm for me and when my husband showered immediately after he only got ice cold water. We stopped at the front desk that morning on our way out for the day and told the woman at the front desk. She said she hadn't received any other complaints so it must be specific to our room and she would send engineering there to look at it. (we were getting hot water in the sink). Later that evening when we returned to our room, we immediately tested the shower again and it was still ice cold. So we went back to the front desk to check if engineering had come. We spoke to the same woman from the morning who acted like it was the first time we were telling her this and she said the exact same thing. I asked if they were going to come ASAP because we needed to shower soon and we couldn't take ice cold showers. She ignored my question and answered the ringing phone. A manager happened to be at the desk and overheard our conversation. He asked what our room number was and said that because of the old building and the pipes the hot water takes longer to get there. He said this was a KNOWN Issue by the staff, management and the owner. He told us to run the shower for AT LEAST 15 to 20 minutes, simultaneously with the sink and it should get hot. He also offered to move us to a different room but when I asked if he could guarantee if we wouldn't have the same problem in that room he couldn't give me a straight answer. We had already unpacked everything and didn't want to go through that hassle without a guarantee. So we went back to the room and let it run for 20 minutes and it eventually got hot. So for the remaining 3 mornings, we had to set our alarms for 30 minutes earlier so we could get up and run our shower before hand. For nearly $300 a night, we felt that this was ridiculous. Old building or not, if its a problem, then either don't put people in those rooms, or get it fixed somehow. Why should anyone be subjected to an ice old shower or an inconvenience to their time because the owner hasn't done anything about it? We visited the hotel Bar, the Bourbon O'bar 3 times during our stay and each time we received TERRIBLE service. None of the bartenders were friendly to us, in fact they were pretty rude. Each time it took them at least 10 minutes to even take our order (by standing there and looking at us and not saying anything). The bar was not busy or crowded any of these times. They would then start making one of our drinks, put it down and make other people's drinks, leave and go into a back room, play on their cell phone, talk to each other, or carry the glass around while doing other things. My husband ordered an old fashioned and the alcohol was sitting in the jar with the ice for over 5 minutes while the bartender carried it around doing other things, causing it to get watered down. When making a cocktail, it should be completed from start to finish without doing other things in the middle. I ordered the Mardi Drop cocktail on 2 different days. The first time, it was actually very good. The 2nd time from a different bartender it was horrible .He also sprinkled probably a tablespoon of cinnamon on top of it (which the first didn't have) which made it nearly undrinkable. I had to stir it into the martini in order to not get a mouthful of cinnamon with each sip. We didn't eat at the hotel restaurant Roux because of the bad Yelp reviews - we felt we could get a better breakfast elsewhere outside the hotel. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this hotel at all unless you don't care about being comfortable or friendly service.

Just be prepared for the wall of noise if you're staying on a Friday and Saturday night and have a room facing Bourbon Street; you will need more than the sound machine and earplugs the hotel provides you. But if you're there to party hard on Bourbon Street at all the touristy bars, then you will be in your element. Depending on the side of the hotel you select when booking your room and the days you choose, you may be able to get away with just a sound machine and earplugs, or you may be getting too old and need to look elsewhere. If you stay on the courtyard side, you should have enough barriers to deflect the nonstop barrage of noise coming from all the bars and clubs on Bourbon Street, especially between Bienville and St. Ann, on a Friday and Saturday night particularly. We had a room on the third floor with a balcony overlooking Bourbon Street that gave us a great view and the opportunity to enjoy wine and cocktails as the festivities picked up steam throughout the afternoons of our stay. The bed was wicked comfortable. The set of drawers had plenty of space to put clothes with a small fridge for keeping drinks cool and leftovers from spoiling. The closet space was ample and was able to fit all of our hang-up clothing and our suitcases. There was a nice lounge chair next to the desk to chill if you didn't want to sit on the balcony. However, the bathroom was cramped and narrow with these weird double doors that could cause trouble if you are going to do business in the middle of the night. The water pressure wasn't great either and if you don't have the curtain positioned right then you're going to have a puddle. Housekeeping did come by to change our linens and provide fresh towels every day, which was appreciated. The front desk was very affable and accommodating, especially with holding out luggage when our room wasn't quite ready yet to check-in. And I liked that there was a security person checking people that were actually staying at the hotel to avoid stragglers, random drunks, and transients from entering. I didn't have the chance to use the pool while I was there, but we were busy walking around the French Quarter to really care. Same went with having anything in the restaurant for food. They did have the little mini mart on the ground floor that worked for when we needed more bottles of water that were larger than the complimentary ones. Accommodations at the hotel were solid, but just know if you stay here, you're experiencing the full Bourbon Street treatment. It is always loud at night, especially, on the weekends.
