We were travelling from Australia. Our room and the ambiance of the house is tasteful and cosy with a stunning art collection, soft music and a beautiful peaceful garden. It is a refuge away from the busyness of the city. The breakfasts are to die for and the happy hour was an opportunity to socialise and network which is helpful when the city is new to you. For me the two friendly resident pet dogs were a bonus as I was missing my own. I can't recommend the Red Tree House enough.

But after my stay here, I can say they were absolutely right!!! This is the most perfect hotel/B&B EVER. I'm so glad I stayed here over other soulless hotels that were cheaper. From the first welcome to the last goodbye, every staff member here has made us feel so warm and cared for. Breakfast: This was my absolute favorite part -- I usually don't care for hotel breakfasts because I'm always on the go, but once I had the first bite, I moved our itinerary around so that we could get their breakfast every morning! They start around 7am with the bread and coffee, but the hot breakfasts start at 8am and end at 10am. I got to try chilaquiles, enchiladas, and enmoladas while I was here, and they really make them with heart and soul! These were the best things I ate during my trip to Mexico City! Also really loved the outside garden in the mornings with all the greenery and birds chirping. Location: in the heart of La Condesa, walking distance to Roma Norte, both neighborhoods were great for strolling through parks and art galleries. We ubered to other places further away and it was so cheap and convenient. Rooms: We stayed here for 4 nights and went to Oaxaca for 3, then back to the Red Tree House for the last night, and both rooms we had were cozy and comfy, with AC. They have great shampoo/conditioner and shower gel, amazing water pressure and temperature, everything was so clean, and I got to sit outside in the balcony and took it slow for the last morning we were there. Housekeeping was amazing, everything was perfect when we came back every night. Safety: They lock their front doors and the front gate so you need your key to get in, and there's a safe in every room. Happy Hour every night 6-8PM: This was such an unexpected bonus! I didn't even plan for us to be at the hotel during those hours because I wanted to see everything in CDMX, but it ended up raining during those hours and we went to one, and it was so much fun chitchatting with other like-minded travelers who shared what they loved about their trip -- We ended up going to a few more & got so many tips from other guests! The hotel dogs Romeo & Booz - I love them and miss them so much! Side note: I LOOOOVED all the art work and interior design and colors. Felt like I was in an art gallery but at the same time so comfortable at a friend's home. HIGHLY recommend!!! If I could give more than 5 stars, I would!!

I want to start by saying this review is difficult for me to write because my husband and I did a…read morelot of research before booking, and we were genuinely excited for our stay. We intentionally chose this hotel for its historic location and were aware of the location in the Zócalo area, which we were completely fine with. I will say upfront that the doormen were the highlight of our experience. They were consistently welcoming, informative, and far more helpful than the front desk staff. We booked a Zócalo junior suite and made multiple efforts in advance both by phone and email to request early check-in and a higher-floor room due to potential noise from the square. Upon arrival early in the morning at six am, we were told our room wasn't ready and were handed a key to wait in a lounge area. However, no one directed us there or explained anything the doorman had to step in and assist us. Unfortunately, the lounge itself was not very clean, with crumbs visible on the couches. When check-in time approached (around 2:30 PM, slightly before their standard 3 PM), I reiterated our request for a higher floor. Despite this, we were assigned room 103. We were told no other rooms were available, even though we had been there since 6 AM. Not wanting to go back and forth, we accepted the room. After a long overnight flight (delayed nearly three hours), we went to rest. Shortly after, we were woken up by a window that would not stay shut. There was an event in the Zócalo, so noise levels were extremely high. Additionally, our room was positioned directly below portable restrooms, and there was a noticeable sewage smell. Maintenance was sent to close the window, but we were hesitant to open it again after that. Being on such a low floor also meant we had no privacy and could not comfortably open the windows anyway. The following day, before leaving for the pyramids, I called the front desk (in Spanish) to request room cleaning and additional towels. When we returned around 2 PM, nothing had been done. Upon calling again, I was told that I had requested "room service," which was incorrect. There was no apology only blame. When housekeeping eventually came by, I had to gather trash myself from the bathroom and we were informed (for the first time) that a sign needed to be placed outside the door to receive service. This was never explained during check-in. Over the course of our four-day stay, our room was cleaned only once. The room itself had several issues. The air conditioning did not work properly and made loud noises throughout the night, leaving us waking up overheated. Because of our room location, opening the windows was not a viable option. The shower was also unsafe the handle was loose and nearly came off when I grabbed it, causing me to almost slip and fall. There were also loose electrical outlets in the bathroom, which was concerning. Additionally, our room consistently smelled like sewage, even though the hallways and lobby did not. The lobby itself was often overcrowded with visitors taking photos of the ceiling, making it difficult to move through at times. The room also did not match what was advertised online. The beds were not the four-poster style shown in photos instead, they were standard beds with a detached headboard that repeatedly knocked against the wall throughout the night. Overall, this stay was very disappointing. Between the lack of cleanliness, poor service, and room issues, it did not meet expectations especially for a hotel of this reputation. While we understood and accepted the challenges of the location, the service and room conditions were the main concerns. Unfortunately, I would not choose to stay here again, and part of me wishes we could receive some form of refund for the experience. Tips: For those traveling don't stay here if you don't want to walk to your uber especially late at night. If there are events that will result in street closures you will have to walk even further to get an uber. There was protests in the zocalo when we were there. At night the homeless come out and sleep around the area and right by the hotel. Ask for a higher floor or take ear plugs cus you won't be able to sleep there is a bar or a club somewhere that plays music till 3 am.

Fantastic location, easily walkable to tons of dining, shops, museums, etc and right on the Zocolo so you can see all the action. It's much quieter at night than one would expect given how busy the daytime is. Were I to visit the area again, I would 100% stay here.

Sadly I did not take pictures of the room, I messed up on that part but trust when I say the room was small. Reservations contacted me by email about transportation from MEX airport to the hotel. Since our flight arrived about 10:30PM, we made advance arrangements for that service via an App link they sent me. I also made a restaurant reservation before leaving home. Everyone we came into contact with was very helpful. All the streets near the hotel were closed off (security reasons) the day we had arranged, via the consignere, for a taxi to meet our food tour. The desk clerk rescheduled our taxi and got someone to escort us to the new pickup point a few blocks away. We are so grateful for that. We would have lost our food tour money if the staff had not gone above the expected. The staff was unfailingly patient with us being none-Spanish speakers. Our room was larger than we expected. In July 2024, we booked a Family Room plan that included breakfast, all tips, 2 double beds at 59% reduction during their "Summer Sale". There was plenty of drawer space to unpack for the week and a safe for our passports. There was a decent room view. Take the free daily tour done by a professional guide on your 1st day to get oriented. Only thing missing was a fridge and microwave for us Americans. But you won't miss them because you get free snacks from Cafe Central near the lobby, 24/7. That includes beer but not wine or tequila. I had some delicious chicken soup from the cafe. I also got ice in a cup from the cafe. Free chilled bottled water is in a hall fridge. I would stay here again. It is central to everything in CDMX and near a subway stop.

When you stay here, the butler assigned to you, will handle things like making a reservations, bringing one coffee, tea and even unpacking your luggage or pressing your clothes. It was available upon the request. This is an easy to use WhatsApp system. The Kingcole Bar serves breakfast but it also is a perfect spot for a very well-made nightcap or two. While I prefer a vodka martini with a twist. We were told that each Saint Regis has their very own Bloody Mary recipe per location worldwide. These are slightly adjusted recipes to reflect the locally sourced native ingredients. There's even a beautiful book on this that one can purchase called the Saint Regis Bloody Mary book which I would love to order for my husband and our ever growing culinary library. Our room was perfection and with its steam shower and rain shower head it was an event and mental reset each day after waking up. The bedding is wonderful and the pillows perfectly blended. I also very much enjoyed the sectional sofa we had in our room and would enjoy coffee they brought from here. Perfect for a reading spot on an email post within the room if you wanted a break from the desk set up. We loved it and it felt like home. If swimming and cardio is your thing, they got a place for that here as well on the 15th floor the top floor overlooking the entire city weight room on one side and cardio equipment on the other. The St. Regis Spa is a wonderful experience.my very talented massage therapist was named Dulce-Maria and did an amazing job. I was grateful to have a 45 minute bamboo deep tissue massage. She is powerful and healing at what she does. The staff then surprised me with a handwritten note and a beautifully curated chocolate fudge cake. So kind. It must be noted that the use of florals here never-ending and everywhere you go as their groupings are so beautifully curated. We appreciate this wonderful hard working staff who is amazing and took care of us with kindness in their eyes and with grace. We will call this home when we are back to St Regis next month. We were lucky enough to get a reservation at ANIMAL here at the St Regis and it is as wild of a menu as its name. Everything is oversized and wonderfully celebratory from the time one enters. The jungle like atmosphere reminds you of an exclusive party that one's been invited to deep in the jungle by someone the likes of Lenny Kravitz!. It's a wild blended interior or great art, deep pulsing music and even the wallpaper the WC is excited to see you. Leaning into its jungle theme, the plants cascade the windows and everything is large and oversized the chandeliers hang above you with 'mega strands of beads'. And like everything in Mexico City, there is a perfect use of brick, cement and beautifully crafted handcrafted wood. A Moulin Rouge like tenting surrounding the sushi bar and cocktail glasses larger than your face. The decor matches the tastes of this awesome menu. The menu was expanse and very cool from local Mexican concepts as well as an entire Sushi rollout that makes a person feel everything. Well traveled and have access to nations. I recommend the sushi, the spicy salmon, the Tacos De Hugos and a small key line dessert. The wines have their own presentation here with an attached glass bauble of an aerator and when one orders the white wine it's presented in a sup zero frozen wine glass complete with vapor. We will be back here and appreciated every surprise the servers shared with us for our anniversary. Thank you so so so much!

This is the best hotel I've stayed at in CDMX on approximately 30+ trips here. This includes the W (nope), Westin (uh-uh), Sheraton (chaos, if there's a demonstration - and there usually is one ongoing), even the St. Regis, Ritz-Carlton and JW Marriott - all too stuffy. Santiago from NJ, by way of the NYU Shanghai campus, was excellent and almost everyone here speaks English perfectly. I felt like I was in NYC, except that the service was better and the staff was much more accommodating. Breakfast was included, nothing spectacular, but everything was solid, good coffee, fresh fruit, fresh pastries, good jams and yogurt. Perfect, light start to the day. The room was not big, but well laid out with every amenity, refrigerator, beverages, Nespresso machine, bottled water and a selection of assorted snacks - all complimentary (except alcohol, unnecessary with all the good bars nearby). The gym was literally situated in a single hotel room on the lower floor. It was tiny, but fully equipped for a one-person, HIIT session. The single issue was the incessant bass drone from the bar nearby. Earplugs didn't work because it wasn't possible to mask the low Hz frequency effectively. Every major museum was about a 25 minute stroll through scenic neighborhoods to get to. Some of the best restaurants (Nobu, Sylvestre) were around the corner. All in all this is probably the best place to stay in CDMX. If not for the bass from the bar, which was totally not the hotel's fault, this was probably the quietest hotel I've ever stayed in Mexico (no children or pets, I think, but not sure). No drunk teens shouting in the hallways - idyllic. About $500-$700/night depending on date. Totally worth it.
