The drive alone would make it worth double your money: driving through the Siërra Nevada mountains…read moreis like driving through a postcard. Stunning views, small roads, tiny villages that seem to be glued to the mountains and friendly people. The hotel is located between the 37 and 38 km marker. This place was such a pleasant surprise! The beautiful old building used is full of history and the owners kept it very much like it probably was. We expected a regular room but it turned out to be a studio. We got some excellent ham and wine in the nearby Trevelez village and had a wonderful afternoon overlooking the mountains from our balcony. The hotel offers a good breakfast from 9 till 11: great for us not-so-earlybirds :) There are good sized pools in- and outdoors and to top it off there is a large selection of Spa treatments for reasonable prices! Rooms are clean and the staff very friendly. Any downsides? The staff knows about 10 English words, which is 100% more than the people in the surrounding villages and 50% more than I speak Spanish :) WiFi is free but it's only in the lobby area, which seems to be common in Spain. The building's ceiling beams are being treated/protected with some strong smelling stuff, we got used to it pretty quick though.
