Edelweiss Lodge & Resort... The best military benefit out there and it's not remotely close…read more We've been to Edelweiss over 10 times when living in Germany (in another life)... This was our first time back since retiring from the AF and it's still the same Bavarian gem. About an hour drive from Munich and situated at the base of the German Alps and within a stones throw of two ski resorts (The Zugspitz & Kreuzek), EL&R has everything for all 4-seasons... Snowboarding/skiing and an array of winter activities, and hiking, biking, camping, and summer activities, this resort really has does have it all. The onsite amenities are great, the service is impeccable, and the location is perfect. If you're looking for an elevated 4-seasons resort at a fraction of the price compared American resorts, EL&R is it... Prost!

Couldn't have had a better time. The hot tub was beautiful and amazing at night with the snow coming down. The breakfast was delicious, you could get everything found at any breakfast restaurant, here. Sammy would make you a special omelet each morning. It was a breakfast for everyone. The atmosphere was warm friendly and welcoming. The tours and guides were remarkable, they made sure we knew the history of everywhere we went. Our stay was everything we dreamed it to be, all the guests were wonderful and friendly, we enjoyed everyone's hospitality.

Our stay started out rough, but things ended great…read more Our party of 3 stayed at the Hyperion for 3 nights last week. During night one I was prepared to leave and find a new hotel, as the mattress was for me was actually painful. We had a king and (a noisy) pull-out sofa, and after about an hour of laying I gave up sleep...for my body the mattress was hard, not firm...so hard I could not lay on it. My husband felt so bad he went to the front in the middle of the night for a solution and was told to come back when management was there in the morning. He did so, and to their credit they placed a great topper, completely fixing the issue and making the bed great...thank goodness. As for the rest of the room, it was large, clean, and updated and included a patio area. There are beautiful mountain views from the yard and restaurant patio. The location is absolutely perfect, easy walking distance to shopping and restaurants but in a quiet location. (The walls are a bit thin though, so I did hear the room above moving around somewhat.) The breakfast at Hyperion is the real star. A huge buffet offering every morning with an exceptional amount of options. Possibly the best included breakfast I've had at any hotel. The breakfast staff was extremely proficient and pleasant. Even with my missed night of sleep, I feel they deserve a 5 star rating. They fixed our only issue quickly and for our needs and wants the hotel could not have been better. I would definitely stay there again...I'd just ask for the topper ahead!

We had a wonderful stay at the Hyperion hotel for the reasons below. Overall, great location,…read morewonderful breakfast and clean rooms. Moved from 5 stars to 4 for the shower issue which took two days to fix and the fact that they advertise free parking, but the free parking spaces are quite limited. Room - The staff was very and when we checked in, personally showed us to our room which was a nice touch. They also provided recommendations on where to eat in the area and offered to make the reservation for us. - We had a room with a balcony that looked out onto the mountain...it was stunning. I sat out there for hours just staring at the mountain. Balcony comes with a table and 2 chairs. Perfect to watch the sunset. - Beds were hard (I overheard other people complaining at breakfast), I was fine with it or maybe just super tired. The pillows were so thin that they were uncomfortable. You needed to stack two, maybe three. Location - Perfect location to walk around the town (where you can't drive). Breakfast - YES. Come with an apetite because the breakfast is delicious and comes with your stay. Head down to the breakfast area and there are two indoor areas to sit and outside. - Many options from breads like roast, rolls, croissants, chocolate croissants and more. - Salmon, meats, cheese. - Cereal - Hot food items which consisted of sausage, bacon, eggs and one grilled vegetable - The best part about the breakfast are their drinks. A few types of juices, water, tea options and unlimited coffee. They have two coffee machines which make all types of coffee, hot chocolates, etc. Parking - There are maybe 6 free spots in front of the hotel. Good luck getting one of these. The hotel told us spaces open up around 10-12 but we never saw one. - You can park in their garage for 12 euros a day. - There's free street parking around the corner which is what we did. Pool - There is a heated pool which we didn't use but looked nice!

The legendary Gasthof Fraundorfer…read more.. If visiting Garmisch-P, GF is a an absolute must when choosing a restaurant. Nestled in the Partenkirchen side of the city, walking into the restaurant is like a walk back in time... This is old school Bavaria at its best with bench style seating, local music, fine German brews, and authentic Bavarian comfort food. The restaurant is local family owned with the friendliest and most attentive service you'll find, and the food will blow you away. From schnitzels to sauerbraten to rump steaks, GF has it all. We've been to GF 20+ times over the years, and it never disappoints. If you want an authentic Bavarian dining experience with living room hospitality and mouth watering food, GF must be on your food list.... Arguably, GP's best restaurant and busiest, a reservation is a must.

Our reservation was honored after I spotted a table card with my name on it. Poor Therese H put up with staff confusion that never ended. First, the pike-perch could not be prepared gluten free, then it could. Presto-change-oh, a trout dish arrived at the table. "Gluten free" said the food runner and another server. "Not gluten free" said our server, removing the dish. Eventually, presto-change-oh again, an unfloured version arrived. "The cook made a mistake," was all we were told. The wheat-eaters at the table did ok. And the band played on.

It is beautiful and captivating and everywhere you look is a postcard. Staying at this hotel was hitting the jackpot. My friend found an awesome online deal for a few nights here. It was easy to find once we got into town. We were greeted by the friendliest employees. Michael was the man who assisted us with our bags, and showing us to our room. He was such a nice guy and continued to check on us throughout our stay to make sure everything was to our liking. Our room was clean and comfortable and large, with a small patio. It was simply decorated and we were both so comfortable the whole stay. Their breakfast buffet was INCREDIBLE. Fruits, meats, breads, quark, coffee, juices....YUM! We also got set up with bikes so we could scoot around town. That was awesome that they offered that free deal. It gave us the opportunity to see the town in a different way. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. It was a wonderful experience.
