My room was bigger than most Italian hotels. Comfortable queen sized bed and a roomy bathroom. Walk in shower was an additional bonus... so many showers are just a small corner with a drain. Small balcony in the room, great view overlooking the pool. Getting drinks at the bar was a bit challenging. Not sure they were prepared for our large group. It just took awhile to get drinks. Learned to order two at a time. Food at the hotel was average, again took awhile to get food.

However, just note that staying in a Trulli is unique and all the Trulli are unique to each other. Ours was must unusual in that the main bathroom had the toilet in the shower. I believe this is because they had to add a bidet and so they did that by moving the toilet over into the only space available, and that was in the adjoining shower. Ha, and the second bathroom had the most usunual combination of all in one sink, bidet and fold up toilet! It all worked, and was memorable!! No one else in our group had this in their Turlli, so we were lucky!?! So, the Trulli and amazing and beautiful, but just keep in mind that these are old structures and you are there for the experience!!

It was the perfect place to relax, unwind and unplug from the world, listening to birds and the wind blowing through the ancient olive trees. As a foodie, I had also heard about the legendary tasting dinners. As a catering executive for 25 years, I offer this input: the portions are way too large! I felt like I was wasting so much food. A tasting ot degustation menu should be comprised of considerably smaller servings. The food was ok, but not anything exceptional. The sweet and sour cabbage dish topped with cod in almond sauce was quite bizarre and for me, not very appealing. Same with fava bean purée served with tomatoes, peppers, grapes and melon. The room accommodations were cozy and well supplied. Would have loved to sit outside and relax more, but the presence of biting flies made it too uncomfortable-- not your fault.

Mr & Mrs Smith hotels never disappoint. If unaware, you can find these using Hyatt. The breakfast was outstanding, served with breathtaking sea views. You can also enjoy it in the atmospheric old rock-walled lower level. Now, let's talk about the shower -- yes, the shower. It's easily one of the coolest I've ever seen. The first knob activates side misters that fill the space with hot steam. There's a built-in bench where you can sit and enjoy the mist. Turn the second knob and you get a beautiful waterfall cascading from overhead while seated. Stand up and under the full rain-style shower. And if that's not enough, there's also a handheld wand. Absolute luxury! If I could give more than 5 stars, I absolutely would. We loved every minute here and were genuinely sad we could only stay one night

Parts of the facilities are in caves adding even more charm. We arrived just after high season and seem to have the place and town to ourselves. During high season , if you're driving here, you must call in advance and give them your license plate number. The old town has narrowed streets (lanes really)with lots of pedestrians. And only locals can regularly drive here. And , the streets are closed about 6:30pm to all vehicles. This allows lots of walking through the enjoyable old town. Service and staff very friendly and helpful.

Found this gem of a place while researching things to do while exploring the Puglia region. We did…read morenot know it at the time, but masserias (or farms) are a big attraction for visiting the region. No wonder why all the food we had here was fresh and delicious. This masseria boasted some of the oldest olive trees in the world, including one that is over 3000 years old and still producing fruit! Amazing! The tour of the grounds and the old presses was fun and informative. And the best part is that you do get to taste the olive oil from the masseria, and it was delicious. There was one olive oil that was infused with lemon that is great on salads. We wish we had bought more!

The Relais Histo' is a great hotel! The hotel isn't far from Taranto. It's surrounded by 70 acres…read moreof olive trees. They produce their own olive oil from the trees and serve it in their restaurants and have bottles for sale. The rooms are great and have amazing views of the courtyard or olive orchards. The showers all have both wands and rain shower heads. The set up is perfect especially if you're tall. The grounds are amazing with hidden treasures around each corner. You never know what you will find from various plants to ancient archaeological finds. I didn't get to explore the whole site by there are plenty of other discoveries throughout the site. A few examples would be: horseback riding, exploring the onsite cathedral and underground aqueduct, and the numerous trails.
