The atmosphere was warm friendly and welcoming. The tours and guides were remarkable, they made sure we knew the history of everywhere we went. There was a pool! Free parking and wifi.... Check-in times were a bit inconvenient. If you arrive after 8pm make sure you call the hotel before to let them know about your late arrival so they can organise a key for you.

I complained to the owners but they were no help at all, they thought we didn't understand German so they only thought was we would give them a bad review This was highly upsetting which took a toll on the comfort of our stay. We have found this to be entirely the fault of owners and Booking.com as we had specifically entered the details of our stay which the Hotel Grainaurhof have not been provided. The dinner was a nightmare there was no private table because the owner didn't even want to set it up even thought her had plenty the were going to site with another couple in a corner. At this I told the owners no an I wanted to leave this hotel by morning, but sadly enough we paid the 374 euro for not even staying this one star if that hotel don't wast your time it is a ripoff DO NOT STAY HERE IT iS RIPOFF However this is entirely the fault of Booking.com and the owners of the hotel this Very disappointing never using Booking.com again and highly recommend future users to opt for a different website.

I booked this place for 4 nights because the reviews were good and it was half a mile from my friends and from downtown. It's PERFECT!!!!! The room is clean, comfortable and neatly soundproof. I wish I had stayed here for the entire 10 days I was in Garmisch. The breakfast is outstanding and the service is equally as outstanding. I highly recommend this hotel. They even helped me book my ticket to Zugspitz! I have zero complaints. Excellent hotel in a perfect location.

The staff are extremely helpful and prompt and if you need any help they are always wiling to help. Like many hotels in Germany don't expect air conditioning as this is not common. In the summer months leave your windows open and hope for the best.

I sat out there for hours just staring at the mountain. Balcony comes with a table and 2 chairs. Perfect to watch the sunset. - Beds were hard (I overheard other people complaining at breakfast), I was fine with it or maybe just super tired. The pillows were so thin that they were uncomfortable. You needed to stack two, maybe three. Location - Perfect location to walk around the town (where you can't drive). Breakfast - YES. Come with an apetite because the breakfast is delicious and comes with your stay. Head down to the breakfast area and there are two indoor areas to sit and outside. - Many options from breads like roast, rolls, croissants, chocolate croissants and more. - Salmon, meats, cheese. - Cereal - Hot food items which consisted of sausage, bacon, eggs and one grilled vegetable - The best part about the breakfast are their drinks. A few types of juices, water, tea options and unlimited coffee. They have two coffee machines which make all types of coffee, hot chocolates, etc. Parking - There are maybe 6 free spots in front of the hotel. Good luck getting one of these. The hotel told us spaces open up around 10-12 but we never saw one. - You can park in their garage for 12 euros a day. - There's free street parking around the corner which is what we did. I've stayed at Hotel Zugspitze twice now, and had good stays both times…read more Service is friendly (and english-speaking), even volunteering to call the local cable-car to confirm whether it was open or not before we drove out to it. The location is excellent, just a hundred meters or so from the main pedestrian area of Garmisch, but easy to drive to as well. There is some street parking nearby, but they also have a small parking garage for ~$10/day, which you probably want to reserve in advance if you think you might want a guaranteed spot. The rooms are traditional european, but everything is clean and well maintained. The mattresses have always been firm but not hard, and the showers in good shape. If you get lucky enough to have a room facing the street, you'll also get some amazing views of the Zugspitze itself! The amenities are excellent as well; the indoor pool area is lovely, and has both a pool and a good-sized hot tub. Breakfast is definitely above average as well! Overall a great choice in Garmisch; maybe not the cheapest, but a good deal for what you get.

The complementary starter was a cold mango soup served with a mint leaf garnish, and it was refreshing and delicious. I had "Gebackenes Spinat-Küchlein auf Pfifferlings-Rag oût und glasiertem Gemüse," which was easily one of the best and most creatively put together dishes I have had in a very long time. It was one of at least two vegetarian options for the main course. My dining companion had "Zart geschmorte Kalbsbäckchen in Spätburgunder mit glasiertem Gemüse und Kartoffel-Kräuterstampf," and we shared a green salad. Suffice it to say that every plate was clean by the end of the evening. The server was gracious and patient as we translated the menu and even made suggestions as to which seat would be less windy. As if the food wasn't reason enough to come here, the view of the mountains from the patio is nothing short of awe inspiring. If I'm ever fortunate enough to be back in this area again, I will definitely be revisiting this fine and rare establishment.

Parking was convenient, the location, in relation to the lake and the Zugspitze, was great. The cost was quite reasonable in comparison to other hotels and gasthauses in Germany. But the greatest things about Gasthaus Zierwald were the staff, the room and the food! This place exudes charm - a mix of the old world with a contemporary finish. And CLEAN is a way of life here. The room was not only larger than most, but newly finished in wood by a REAL craftsman. The handmade wood bed was King sized and very comfortable. The bathroom was fantastic - the largest and best we encountered in our travels - no "squeegy" shower here! After a day of sightseeing, there is an upper deck where you could relax with a warm cup of coffee or good German wine and watch the sunset on the Zugspitze. And the food was fantastic - all fresh and well prepared, to be enjoyed in a cozy, warm, but not crowed dining room. The staff were not only polite and efficient, but more than willing to assist you with accommodations, trip planning, local information and fun conversation. I highly recommend Zierwald and we plan a return stay on our next trip to Germany
