I just had the worst lodging experience in my life.
First, I tried several times to book my room directly at the hotel since I was attending a training seminar and a special rate was given.
Every time I called the hotel's reservation line I got a message that the line was not in service. After several attempts i was finally able to reach the front desk and they told me their reservations system was not working, so I had to call at midnight so the gaveyard shift manager could make the booking.
Again, I made 20 plus phone calls (no joke) to get connected to front desk until I succeded, and while attempting to make my booking the person at front desk told me the discount rate was not valid because I was booking during the weekend.
I SPENT 3 DAYS TRYING TO CONTACT THE HOTEL AND NOW HE TELLS ME THE SPECIAL RATE IS NOT AVAILABLE???
I firmly told him that was unacceptable since their reservation system was garbage, and finally got him to honor the rate. This was a nightmare on its own, but it gets worse.
I arrived at the hotel on december 10 and was given a room with no lights. NO SINGLE LIGHT WAS FUNCTIONING WHEN ENTERED THE ROOM; I HAD TO USE MY CELLPHONE TO TRY TO FIND WHERE TO TURN THEM ON!!!
I tried to use the room's phone to call reception, but lo and behold, the phone was not working, it was stuck in voice mail system. As I opened the door to get to front desk the lights suddenly turned on... for 5 minutes. Then they when on and off at very odd intervals. I was tired from traveling so I just crashed and decided to deal with this the next morning.
Decrmber 11, lights still going on and off on their own. The phone worked again so I told front desk about the issue; maintenance guy shows up, takes a quick look and tells me he deactivated a sensor. Lights where on and all seemed good. Went out of the room for a couple of hours came back and again no lights, called front desk they send another guy, takes a quick look and there's light again. As i was sleeping lights came on and off, which was really bothersome.
Finally, today December 12, went out of the room to have breakfast, came back and again NO SINGLE LIGHT WAS WORKING! I just gave up and finished cleaning up to attend my training using only my cellphones flashlight (try shaving using only your phone's flashlight). Came back to my room after a break and maybe the housekeepers realized there was no light, because 5 minutes later another maintenance guy shows up to "fix" the lights. Same as before, light for 5 minutes and then back to the dark ages.
I just checked out, despite having been charged for the third night. Maybe not all rooms were having issues like the one's I experienced, but I will never know. Despite being unable to solve the issue i was never offered a different room.
For those thinking, "why didn't you request a different room?"
Why should I even ask for a room with functioning lights after paying so much? Isn't it obvious that having the same problem "fixed" several times in the course of 2 days is and indication that something's not right with the room?
Let me put it like this; if you rent a car and it keeps shuting down you tell the staff and they give you another one. It's just common sense. You don't have to ask for another car.
I'M NEVER, EVER, EVER STAYING AT THIS PLACE AGAIN. AVOID ROOM 150 IF YOU MUST STAY HERE!!! read more
