What a beautiful hotel in a great location, especially if you know the San Francisco area! When we arrive, there was a parking spot for loading and unloading, and we were able to park there while we checked in. the person at the counter was so incredibly friendly and even upgraded our room upon check-in. They also accommodated an early check-in for us now that's great customer service. Our room was beautiful with an amazing view of the bridge. My only complaint is the parking there is no parking. The parking garage was about two blocks away in about $65 a night to park besides that it was a great experience and I would definitely stay again. The room was clean in a good size for two people.

Ann at the front desk was great! Very helpful and upgraded our room. If we were not upgraded our experience would have been completely different and my stars would have been reduced. Great value for the price but parking was expensive in the garage across the street. Clean room and bathroom.

I had a great stay during Dreamforce. It was so nice to not be in a conference hotel. The hotel was very quiet! The restaurant was bustling during happy hour. There was a little disappointment in my room when I first checked in. Just make sure you have a room that is large enough to fit your bags. The first room that I was checked into was way tooooo small. It fit the bed only and no room for my luggage. Plus it was very warm. It was on the 3rd floor. Then I was moved down the hall to a much better room. A little larger and the a/c worked. Then the next morning I spoke to Gladys (I believe that is who assisted me). She could not have been nicer and more accommodating. I needed a desk because I was spending the day working at the hotel. She was so super kind and upgraded my room to 419. Oh my gosh, that was amazing. The room was beautiful and had a desk and the BEST view of the Oakland bridge and the bay. Just stunning! I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in that room. I really appreciated the location, how quiet the hotel was, and it felt like a European hotel with so many different languages being spoken. I had the best time. I cannot wait to stay there again. Just perfect!

If it wasn't for a canceled flight and needing to add a fourth night (which also meant changing to a different room), this would not be a great review. The bad: we were not impressed when we checked into our first room. It was small and had an awkward layout with the sink located at the foot of the bed instead of in the bathroom. Our room had no view, and its small tv was located high up on the wall over the sink. The pillows were too hard (I actually had a sore neck after trying to sleep with them). The sheets were stained. It was located near the elevator so it was noisy. The good: after we checked into our new room, we were impressed that it was noticeably bigger and generally more pleasant. While the sink was still annoyingly located outside of the bathroom, the pillows were softer and the tv was bigger. It was clean and, because it was located down the hall away from the elevator, it was quieter. We very much liked the location - close to the Ferry Building. It was easy to walk to from the BART and a MUNI stop was nearby. We enjoyed the free pastries and coffee each morning. It was nice that they had water dispensing stations available. We liked that it was adjacent to Perry's - a good restaurant/bar which we frequented a couple times during our stay. The front desk staff were kind. And we liked free access to work out at the nearby YMCA - a really nice facility!

We came for a medical appointment on a Tuesday night. We chose this hotel because its only a block away from our clinic. The rooms are very tiny, but we don't need much. It's just myself and my wife, so it was manageable. The elevators are very tiny too. Fits 2 people with luggage comfortably, a third could squeeze in but will be an awkward journey if you don't know the third person. At five A.M., the people upstairs decided to have a rager moving around the room, so that kept me up for a while. a major con is. It doesn't have parking. You have to park across the street in the parking garage. It was $76 for the night. They don't have valet and they don't validate. It is a bit cheaper during the weekend. The room was advertised at $139 plus fees and taxes It came out to 160, add the $76 comes to $236. The hotel is in a prime location to a lot of restaurants, and of course, the Piers and the Baybridge. I will definitely stay here again. Since it's very close proximity to my clinic.

Hotel Griffon is straddling 3 to 4 stars. Service, location, view (if you get a bay view), can't be beat. It's a cute but small boutique hotel in an old building right off the Embarcadero. How small are the rooms? Think old school European hotels. What it gives up on size, it makes up for in terms of location and the view if you get a Bay View room (worth it). Our room looked right at the bay bridge and gave way to beautiful morning sunrises. The sink is located outside of the bathroom. Speaking of bathroom, the vent fan was an odd combo of also heating up the bathroom like a food warming lamp in a Restaurant's pass. Other oi species quality that may or may not add to the charm...the floor had a definite slant to one side, tested by our wheeled luggage. LoL Water stations on every other floor, alternating the same spot on each floor with an ice machine. Complimentary sweet and savory pastries in the morning with a pretty decent brew of drip coffee. The staff are all very friendly and helpful.

The Hotel Griffon I am from the Bay Area, currently living in Austin Texas, I tend to travel, visit SF every 3 months. Hotel Griffon has become my hotel of choice, my home away from home. Located steps away from the Ferry Building/ Embarcadero/Bay Bridge. I make a point of reserving one of their suites with multi windows, with an irresistible panoramic view of the Bay, Bay Bridge, Ferry Building. The entire staff at the Hotel Griffon are examples of Superior Hospitality Agents. The epitome of Hospitality - always going above, beyond meeting and exceeding expectations. In particular Lady Ann (Front Office Manager) Regina, Gladis..... My recent visit (August 2024) upon arrival, greeted like family, offered early check-in, finding a lovely welcome note and bottle of wine in the room. Thank You - Hotel Griffon - My Little Slice of Heaven !!!!

Hotel Griffon is a waterfront boutique hotel by the bay bridge in San Francisco. It's a great location on the embarcadero, and from the restaurant outside dining area, you have a spectacular view of the Bay and the bridge. I Came here to spend only one night and booked through a third-party website to get a last-minute deal at this hotel (generally pricey). Therefore, I was assigned a basic room with a queen size bed, which was very comfortable. There is a small bathroom, which did the job. The sink area was outside the bathroom. No worries. There was also a small table and chair. The hotel has one in-house restaurant called Perry's serving American fare. The hotel has free cold purified water stations but not on every floor. It's a bummer that they do not supply bottles to take the water to your room. There is complimentary coffee, and pastries every morning from 7-11 am. All the pastries are at room temperature, some of them dry and chewy. There were eight selections. Turkey and cheese, ham and cheese, spinach mushroom and cheese, almond croissants, two types of muffins, lemon danish and berry danish. The berry danish and almond croissant were the best. I will come back. Service was good and there is so much to do around this hotel.

A suite is a must! High ceilings are awesome, the bed was super comfortable, shower had great space & good water pressure. The area felt safe and there are delicious restaurants right next door. We ate (and drank) and Perry's. There was STK right across the street that had a fantastic happy hour. We really enjoyed our time in SF & I'd stay again at Hotel Griffon. Thank you Ann & your staff for a lovely stay.

$350 for 2 nights for the SF Marathon booked via AirBnB. *************************************** ROOM *************************************** The room's floor is slanted hahahah. I put a water bottle on the floor and the head of the bed and it rolled down to the foot of the bed. So definitely slanted. It was a tight space! One of the night stands was a "desk" with an unnecessary desk chair in a very tight space. I did like the window lounge/day bed. But who knows when that was cleaned last...Some threads were frayed and pulled out of the cushion. The window is more for light, not for the view. It's has a texture and somewhat opaque so you can't see clearly what's outside. The sink is not in the bathroom but in the room. There is also no fridge, but there is a coffee maker with coffee and tea, ice bin, and cups. There is also a water filter in the lobby, that looks pretty new. One random thing is that the hair dryer was pretty good! I always find hotel hair dryers to be a little wimpy, but this dryer was basic and great! It blew very strongly, it could have been hotter. But still great! *************************************** SERVICE *************************************** Service was decent. We got early check in, which was nice! FYI THERE IS NO PARKING HERE. Unfortunately, they did not honor their Yelp Check In Deal, which offers a later check out time. Check out was at 11 AM and the latest they could push it was 12 PM. Would I be back? Probably because during peak seasons and events like the SF marathon, this is the most affordable options that still has space.

The check-in process was smooth. The front desk was very helpful in getting us in and filling out a card authorization form. We were surprised by the valet price however - $90 is definitely high. There is no self parking but the prices for the lots nearby are just as high, if not higher for overnight. We really enjoyed our room. It is definitely not the most spacious but felt quite luxurious. We booked a double queen room and were placed in Rm 920. There was limited walking space around the ends of the beds and desk. There was a beautiful view of the courtyard and city. I love that the room was very well-lit. There is ambient lighting and brighter lights you can turn on next to the beds. My friends and I loved the window that separated the bathroom from the sleeping space. It was quite comical and made getting ready for a night out very fun. There blinds for both the bathroom window and outside window were motorized which was a nice touch. The beds were pretty comfortable but nothing too special - I appreciate them having a bunch of pillows. The mini fridge and coffee bar felt pretty luxe and were much fancier than those are other hotels I've stayed at. There were plenty of outlets throughout the room and next to the beds. The whole vibe of the hotel feels very sleek and modern. The hallways are lit with a ambient blue. The inside of the elevators are themed which is super cute for pics. The gym is very nice too, loaded with more than your typical treadmill and elliptical. The lobby felt clean and had little robot things scooting around that apparently are used for room service. I would definitely stay here again so I can explore what I didn't get to see on my short stay!

Absolutely horrible experience--please note that staying here comes with hidden costs!…read more I was looking forward to staying here because of the location and cheap price; $80/night in SF over the weekend is definitely a hard find. However, from the very beginning to end ranged from confusion, annoyance, to plain nightmare. The check in process was confusing and and cumbersome. I was given no check in information, and there was no front desk. The intercom at the front door did not even work, and I had to call their actual "front desk" who apparently said they did not have my information on file and made me go through these annoying steps just to find my hotel room key in a lock box. The most frustrating and nightmarish experience came the next day when I lost the hotel room key (a physical key). I called the "front desk" several times but received no answer then finally got one after about 10 minutes. When I told the man at the "front desk," he told that he would have to speak to the housekeeper. After waiting for another 10 minutes, he informed me that I would be getting fined $200 for the lost room key, which is plain ridiculous, since they didn't have a replacement key (other than the housekeeper's key). I understand a $25 or $50 fee for a lost key but $200 for a freaking key???! After waiting for about 40 minutes total, he finally walked over with my replacement key and begged me not to lose it since that would mean the housekeeper can't even get in (how laughable). What's worse was that the other guests were able to use their phone or a passcode to get in since all the room had e-locks. When I asked the man at the "front desk" why I needed a physical key, he said that not all of the e-locks were working--including the one for my room. What a load BS. A horribly dingy hotel that can't even get its most basic sh*t together. Stay at this incompetently run hotel at your own risk or better yet find much better options.

Amazing Service. Good Value. Butler Service…read more I came to the Bay Area for a relative's 80th birthday and booked The St. Regis because it was the only Forbes Five-Star rated hotel in San Francisco. I'm usually hesitant to stay at American hotel chains' "luxury products" because they often just feel like Marriotts with nicer tile (most new Ritz-Carltons, for example). I found the St. Regis to actually offer the kind of luxury service that is often missing in American hotels. I arrived fairly early, around 11:00 a.m., and the staff were incredibly friendly, accommodating both an early check-in and late check-out, along with a room upgrade. Prior to this stay, I didn't really understand the purpose of butler service, but they were kind enough to gift-wrap the presents for the birthday party I was attending while I booked a massage and walked around the city. The spa at the St. Regis is fairly large, with an indoor heated pool (well designed), a gender-separated steam room (out of order during my visit), and a sauna. I will say the spa could use an expansion or renovation. The "relaxation room" felt a bit like a repurposed salt room, and the men's lounge basically just had tea and snacks. The massage itself was great, and everyone there was extremely friendly. What really impressed me was the service. I casually asked whether they had bath salts available for use in my room, and within 30 minutes of leaving the spa, bath salts, bubble bath, and bottled water were delivered to my room without my needing to make a special request. Great attention to detail. I walked through the gym and it seemed large enough for a full circuit workout, with plenty of equipment. I do wish the hotel had more dedicated lobby or guest lounge areas. The check-in area, bar, and restaurant all seemed to blend together into one shared space, which felt fairly busy in the evening when non-guests came in for happy hour. The bar was nice but honestly expensive and not especially memorable. I was a bit surprised by some of the clientele (there were what I assumed to be a couple "working ladies" at the bar who I wonder if their services were less than the cost of breakfast in hindsight), though very friendly occasionally felt slightly out of sync with the otherwise polished atmosphere of the hotel. I didn't try the restaurant for dinner. The hotel does offer a complimentary car service around the local area, though unfortunately it was booked when I needed it. Breakfast was expensive, easily over $100 per person for a fairly normal order, but it was very tasty. The Eggs Benedict were perfectly cooked and included truffle, which was fantastic. The room was clean and comfortable. I do think it could have used a deeper scrub, though I admit my standards may be skewed by an exceptional housekeeper at home. There was also a slight musty odor. It was not on the level of a room at an average Belmond property or the former Mandarin Oriental Miami, but it was spacious and perfectly comfortable for one person. I'm not entirely sure whether St. Regis considers itself directly competitive with those brands. In summary, the service is what makes this hotel worthy of five stars. They seem genuinely happy to accommodate nearly anything you might need or even casually mention wanting. Personally, I find San Francisco itself dirty, stressful, expensive, and rough around the edges, so having a hotel that felt calm, polished, and attentive made a huge difference in my trip.

The hotel is dog friendly. They give you a bed and bowl and treats. The pet fee is steep at $200 per stay. There is the Yerba Buena gardens across the street (5 minute walk) to take your dog out. I have a problem with this being a Four Seasons, because it's really not that type of experience…read moreand I wouldn't think they would just throw their brand around. The hotel used to be quite a few other properties, so while they may have decorated it, it's not the luxurious experience we've had at other hotels. The views are to die for, we had a room that spanned windows from Golden Gate to Bay Bridge, it was amazing being on the 45th floor and seeing the night sky and morning sunrise. The property doesn't really have a real lobby, spa, and the restaurant is average, as in the quality of the food was just not top notch, and they have access to the best ingredients. They only have two elevators and are quite slow, at a busy time this can be quite annoying. The room itself was small, no real furniture, would have been nice to have a sofa and table with two chairs. There was no dresser. The bathroom was great for one, but small for two. The shower didn't have a bench, no his or her's sinks. The bed when we got into it was super soft and not supportive, when we called they did something really odd and put a board on the mattress and then a topper. I guess they have a guest that asks for this. Why didn't the service people know they have a firm version of the mattress topper they could have switched for us. We didn't have the best sleep. Again, usually the Four Seasons beds are amazing. While this property doesn't charge regular Four Seasons prices, it also doesn't deliver the experience and it would be a shame if the brand started doing this.
