The hotel's interior is very unique - it has both Arabic and Christian influence. The exterior is an oasis of beautiful plants and flowers. Our room on the second floor offers a breathtaking view of the gardens of the Generalife (see photos below). The room is pretty contemporary with an updated bathroom. Breakfast buffet offers many choices, although not everything is good. The terrace has gorgeous view of the Generalife, but be warned that there are tons of bees and birds. Service is so so at best. The front staff do an adequate job, but they don't go above and beyond. The location is at the Alhambra perched on the hill, therefore it's not as convenient for dinning out. We got a taxi every time we went out for lunch or dinner. If you prefer being in the city center close to many dinning and drinking options, this is not for you. If you want a unique hotel located within a historic site, consider this hotel!

We got interconnecting rooms, which are different from how I think of connecting rooms. Our rooms shared a short hallway, and both the hallway door and the individual rooms used the same lock. We were given two keycards, both of which were needed to keep the electricity on in the rooms. As our kids are young, this was not ideal, as it was too easy for someone to get locked out of a room. This would be a better set up for families with older kids or couples traveling together. The hotel was clean and modern. There's a very decent gastropub in the lobby. Our room came with daily breakfast, and we thought the breakfast was very good. Eggs and pancakes to order, pretty extensive buffet including serrano ham and pate, fresh honeycomb, decent fresh fruit options, churros, and fresh squeezed orange juice. The kids enjoyed all three morning breakfasts. The hotel location is within a 10-20 minute walk of pretty much anything you'd want to see in Granada (although the walk to the Alhambra would be steep), but there's also a taxi queue two blocks away if you're feeling lazy.

Rooms are spacious and clean, decor is light, mirrors and lights are strategically placed to make it very easy to get ready. Room comes even with a steamer! Bathrooms were also very clean and large. I very much enjoyed my stay here and if I were to come back to Granada, I'd be staying here. Customer service was also excellent. Barcelo Carmen Granada is in a great location and within walking distance to everything.

We kind of felt we established relationships with the staff at the end. The hotel is beautiful. You feel like you are in Spain in the hotel. The plaza is so peaceful to have a meal or just to relax. The are several beautiful rooms and the hotel has a interesting history. The rooms are comfortable. I liked the bathroom because it's spacious and the bed was super comfortable. The only thing to consider is that only one hotel room has an outdoor space. We had dinner and breakfast. The dinner was good. Food was somewhat flavorful but again, the ambiance is fantastic and relaxing. Service was warm, patient, and timely. This is one of the few breakfast places nearby that provides comprehensive choices and an American style breakfast. The breakfast is tasty. The price includes both a buffet and menu choices. The only slight concern is the breakfast is approximately $30 per person which is very expensive compared to other options in the area and outside the area. How many can say they stayed at such a historic place? Loved our room overlooking the courtyard. Was quiet even though we were on the main thoroughfare. All the tourist buses and plazas are within short walking distance. Friday night was a bit loud with people singing while watching futbol at a nearby bar. Terrible wifi. I wasn't able to load any websites, maps, or emails. Literally nothing. Average rooms. The toilet did not flush on low flow mode and the safe was unusable. Our room was otherwise clean. We also only had 2 plugs in a 3 bed room. Breakfast was included. It was your usual continental breakfast of bread, assorted croissants, jamon, cheese, cereals, nescafe coffee, orange juice, fruit, yogurt. Staff spoke Spanish, English, French, and Italian. There was a Rick Steeves tour group staying in the hotel at the same time us.
