Hotel Du Dauphin was somewhat difficult to get to in Lyon. I'm not sure if this is because of the construction on the street or simply because cars aren't typically supposed to drive on their street.
Either way, once you find the hotel you have to go up the tiny elevator or climb the spiral stairs. Both choices with luggage are miserable. Once you get upstairs you're greeted by a polite receptionist. We got the room RIGHT next to the receptionist desk, which was pretty convenient if we needed anything. Given that European hotels are typically smaller, I can appreciate the layout of this one more.
First you have the desk and the bed. Behind that is a window that you can open and look out into the sitting which is really nice. The toilet and vanity are on the right, behind the bed. The shower is on the left of the window. So, your bathroom is kind of separate. Not a huge issue.
Love this hotel for the location and seemingly better layout than most hotels we stayed at in Europe. read more
