OMG, I wanted to leave last night but I was too exhausted to drive. It's a nightmare. I get the whole old hotel nostalgia thing; but this place just needs to go. It's filthy, extremely dated and uncomfortable. The guest room hallways have no lights, the room is just gross. I'm actually slept with my clothes on out of fear of being exposed to something in the bed. We bought the buffet for dinner at the front desk. My wife and I agreed it was among the worst meals we ever had. Stay away, you are better off slepping in your car.

Used toothbrush on top of shower.

My family and I rented a room at the Hotel Conneaut. We were drawn to the hotel because we had fond memories of visiting the park many years ago. We were given a key and navigated our way to the room. We tried to unlock the door multiple times to no avail, so we returned to the lobby area and asked for assistance. One of the employees told us that they would be up to show us how to open the door (there apparently was a certain way that you had to do it.) We went back upstairs and waited for about ten minutes before they finally came. They also failed to unlock the door, so they went to retrieve a master key. We entered the room and the atmosphere was very off-putting. It was unpleasant and extremely dated. I'm aware that this is an "old-timey" hotel, but the room looked unclean. Only one bed had a headboard, neither had a sham to cover the box spring, and both had wrinkled sheets. There was a television, but it was not connected and there was no remote to be found. I checked out the bathroom, and the things I found were pretty disgusting. There was a used toothbrush resting on top of the shower, and the towels were riddled with brown stains. The bathroom simply felt grimy and a huge risk for infection. I felt so dirty and regretted even putting my bags on the floor. There was no way that I was staying at this hotel. We went back to the lobby and were given a refund. The fact that guests whose original keys do not work are given a master key is very unsettling. Additionally, you can see into the rooms because the doors are askew. This is a huge security concern and I simply did not feel safe there. There is a big demand for a revival of this hotel and park, but some things are just too far gone to be salvaged. Only give the Hotel Conneaut a try if you're feeling adventurous and have a trunk load of disinfectant.

We are first time visitors to the hotel and just got married. I've wanted to stay here for quite a while but we've camped. I cannot say enough good things about this place. If you're looking for a five star hotel with perfect amenities I'd say conneaut in general isn't for you. It's so old and beautiful. The staff are extremely friendly and the rooms are very clean. My husband and I were married yesterday and chose to stay up here for a night. We are coming back here every year for our anniversary. It's beautiful, it's quaint and it's a step back in time. I could not be happier with our stay.

The hotel itself was okay, outdated, but doable for one night away. The room wasn't the cleanest, there was thick dust on the TV stand and an old deodorant lid on the floor. The tub had a soap scum line and the shampoo and conditioners were both half used. The television did not work and neither did the light on the ceiling fan. We went to the front desk and she gave us directions to fix the TV but we couldn't get it to work. The room also didn't have a fridge which was a bummer. There was also inadequate parking so we ended up parking a few blocks away. I don't think there is enough here to keep a kid occupied for more than one day, but both the beach and the amusement park we're literally right outside the hotel. The amusement park was cute but it was sad to see the lack of people there on a Saturday afternoon. Also, you could tell the staff hated their jobs. The worst part of our stay here was the spirit lounge. I'm pretty sure it was the worst service I've had anywhere. Their was three waitresses and you could tell none of them wanted to be there. We went to eat and were sitting for over 15 minutes before one lady came over and asked if we wanted menus. At the time we were the only people in restaurant other than two sitting at the bar. She took our drink and food order at the same time. Our food came before our drinks and we had to keep reminding her about them. I asked if the chips were home made, she sad no they were bagged ruffles so I ordered some with my quesadilla for my daughter. When they came, they were some kind of homemade Doritos like chip with some kind of spicy seasoning that she wouldn't eat. The quesadilla I ordered was supposed to have cheese, onion and pepper. It came with some kind of unidentified red sauce inside and cheese, with salsa and sour cream on the side. The server didn't know what it was either and was going to remake it. After another 15 minutes they ended up just taking it off the bill and I didn't eat. By the time we all got our drinks, which she brought sparatically, we were already done eating. The server had brought our check before my friend had even got his Pepsi. He got the pulled pork sandwich which he didn't like, and he eats everything.

Amazing old hotel! It's really clean and sits right on a lake. Huge porches, beaches and an old vintage amusement park right outside. Love it!

No it's no Kennywood but I don't think it's trying to be. A very nice place for a nice lake side trip. Hotel has some great historic views and the whole time we were at the park and in the hotel it felt like we are taking a trip back to the 1940s. Very cool nostalgic feel to the whole place. The amusement park has 8 to 10 rides and classic games and food and the waterpark has two slides I would guess about 4 stories high and the lazy river that is nice. Plus lake beach is right there also with nice warm water (July) . The hotel has a restaurant with good food and a full bar that is not expensive and open relatively late and there is a really cool beach bar also that is only open till 10 but a cool place to sit out in the evening and have a drink. Hotel rooms are dated but kept clean with good working air-conditioning Overall a great place for a weekend getaway for all ages (we went with a group of 12 with the youngest being in eighth grade and the oldest being 84 years old and everyone else in between)

On our monthly visits to the area, we always go to the Conneaut Hotel Bar / Eatery - so we can sit on the porch with our drinks and wings!

Recently we were thinking of where to go to lunch after the movies and remembered the Pampered Palate, which we hadn't been to in forever. The sandwiches here are so fresh and have some unique creations. It's not your boring white-bread ham and cheese sandwich, although if you want to be generic by all means go ahead. This place knows how to dress up a sandwich for more adventurous palates. I got the Thanksgiving club- roast turkey, bacon, swiss and cranberry mayo on sweet whole wheat. My mom got the Reuben, and we swapped halves. The breads tasted really fresh, and the cranberry mayo added a nice sweetness to my sandwich that left my mouth watering for more. The only little gripe I have is that the sitting area where you eat/drink your coffee isn't all that inviting. If it had carpet it might feel a little cozier. The cute iron chairs and tables are great, but the tile floor seemed sterile and cold. They also cater- my parents used to get sandwiches for their cross-country skiing parties and said they hold up really well- unlike Subway/similar. The quality of the meats/cheeses are superior than other sandwich shops. When I come home for Christmas, you can bet I'll stop back in! Glad to see a non-franchise still up and running- I can't believe we temporarily forgot about this gem!

My personal favorite is the Monte Christo sandwich, a rare find that lives up to expectations. The coffee drinks are also excellent. Tom Terrific here with another honest business review…read more My brother heard about this place and was aching to go there. He has his own Jumbo pinball machine in his home and he's really into it. So am I, so we stopped in a few days after Christmas. Admission on that Sunday was $20 per person. I was stunned by how many people were there. Male and a surprising number of females. Whole families with little kids were having a blast. It's a huge place with many hundreds of machines, most of which are pinball. They have gun shooting machines, the pac man type machines and my favorite the baseball games where this flapper rises up and a pinball shoots out and you whack it with the bat using your flipper control. My favorite pinball was the Twilight Zone. It gave me lots of time to bang that ball around and it had all the bells, whistles and lights I love. Many times in the 2 and a half hours we were there I'd just go from one machine to the next one all down the line. What fun! The men's restroom was medium size, easy to find in the rear and clean. I was surprised to find that they have a great concession court. It had lots of tables, chairs and napkins. There was a TV showing football. The biggest surprise was the quality of the food. My $3.50 hot dog was all beef on a fresh bun and there were all the condiments, even relish in packets. The food staff wore latex gloves and all of them were neat, clean and wholesome looking. I refuse to eat at any place that hires people with what we in Tampa call snot rings that go into their septum and hang down to their lips. UGH. Get the hell out of here. Not for me. Very unsanitary. I complimented the staff on their food and they thanked me. I noticed that they had quantity control. The french fries were made to order and they came out of a small sandwich bag that I assume was weighed for a consistent number of fries. You don't see that everywhere. I checked the counters and the floor of the kitchen and the entire place - it was clean and the floors appeared freshly mopped. A+ Past Times also had decorations and photos on the walls and my brother knew who the old men were that were depicted there. The walls honored the pioneers of pinball, a very appropriate thing to do. The entire staff and management was very kind as we asked questions and I got my picture taken with the white board stating I was Tom Terrific from Tampa, Florida. My brother said there may be only one pinball arcade that was larger and it resides in Los Angeles. I loved Past Times and it seems like so did all the other people. I highly recommend it for a date, a great family night out or even as a solo venture. Open Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Past Times - 5 Stars !

HO. LEE. SHE. IT…read more It took me a while to get here, but I've just been to the best arcade in Ohio. Past Times Arcade is absolutely fantastic. Maybe, just maybe, it's the best arcade that I've been to in the last 40 years! PTA has the largest "open to the public" selection of pinball machines that I've ever seen...this includes the Pinball Hall of Fame in Vegas and both of the big venues in Pittsburgh. There might be occasional pinball expos, and private collections, where more games are on display...but these are usually not open year round. Rare and cool AF games are everywhere! There are tables from 5, maybe 6, continents! Tables from "every" era in pinball history are represented, IN LARGE NUMBERS, at PTA! And critically, almost all of the games are playable AND are in GREAT CONDITION! I'm not sure how the owner and his team keep this many tables in such good condition, but somehow, it is the case. How about video games? You bet! PTA has over 200 of these. Selection? Lots of rare games and almost all the blockbusters as well. Are they in good condition? Yep. Less than 5 were not operational. Not a single game (that I played) had an issue with the controls or the screen. Amazing. Also cool: There is a fair number (50ish?) of pre-transistor electromechanical games. Many of these were operational, but many, (such a Sega's Periscope) were, unfortunately, not up and running. Still though, it was nostalgic and (maybe even a little) heart warming to see them again. The games are set on "Free Play;" you pay 20 bucks to play all day. You get a wrist band and you can come and go as you please. If you're a kid, it's cheaper. If you're a veteran or a first responder, it's cheaper. Food? Yes. I admit that I didn't eat anything, but the kitchen and diner area sure smelled good! It was also amazing how clean PTA was, even the crapper was spotless. Booze? Yes. I didn't drink but the selection of canned adult beverages looked pretty extensive. Bottom line: I've been to some of the biggest and best arcades (and coin op museums) in the country. Past Times Arcade just might be the best. No shit. 5 Stars.

The venue was beautiful inside and out the food was INCREDIBLE and honestly a dream. My friend new what she wanted and asked for it planning and planned a BEAUTIFUL wedding. She hired a personal wedding planner to help make her dreams come to life and it was beautiful. HOWEVER, let me just say my bride showed incredible compassion and grace day of because if this had been MY day I would be getting my money back. The staff of the barn was disorganized and SO rude. They made comments about the bride and her family as well as the groom and her family TO GUESTS at the wedding. They were also exhibiting the same behavior to an entire wedding group the day BEFORE the wedding. I know some of the other vendors who were staffed at my brides wedding personally and they even said that the coordinator is rude and hard to work with and that's it their least favorite venue to work with. The unprofessionalism of this woman ALONE would lead me to NEVER recommend this venue to another person or family who is looking to host one of the most sacred and special ceremonies of their lives. Like I said my bride had a wonderful time because she didn't let it ruin her day but I would NEVER wish that experience on some one else. Your wedding day should be all about you and you shouldn't have to worry about a grown woman exhibiting such immature and UNPROFESSIONAL behavior.
