I met some friends in Claremont for an annual reunion, and absolutely loved my stay at Hotel Casa. From the moment I stepped into the room it felt luxurious, with modern decor and a beautiful tub. Everything was spotless. The courtyard--which was the view outside of the room--was beautiful, and the free breakfast in the lobby was delicious: quiche, breakfast potatoes, English muffins, bagels, juice, etc. Covered parking was also free. I will definitely be back, I highly recommend this hotel. read more

The location is perfect, rooms are big and clean, the breakfast was amazing. The hotel staff was great. We live down the street and have wanted to stay here because we come to this area at least twice a week, but you have to stay two days on the weekends. Luckily New Year's was on a weekday and we were able to get it for a night. Everything about the hotel was amazing. The staff the food, the people. The bad part about this stay was the bar and I don't want to lower their star rating because they have another option for just the bar and lounge. We had just walked back to the hotel from dinner and sat at the bar, which had two parties with about 12 people total. We sat down to get a dessert and the woman bartender didn't acknowledge us for over 10 minutes so we got up and left. There are two of us looking at her, trying to get her attention when she's literally 3 feet away from us and she's doing everything she cannot to make eye contact or acknowledges. It was 745 on New Year's Eve, I get that she didn't want to be there, but It did take away from an otherwise perfect day. Maybe something happened to her that day that we obviously don't know about, but her bar back wasn't doing anything for us either. Beyond abysmal. They have not turned a screw excluding customers since opening some 20 years ago. Dirty and run down. DONT BE FOOLED THAT THIS IS SOME CHIC BOTIQUE HOTEL! It's a dump. Lousy old bed. Small crappy pillows. Moldy shower. AC does not work. AC vents throughout property are dirty. Cracked floors. Old paint. Poor lighting in room. Poor ventilation. Shower water pressure a trickle. Entrance carpet filthy. Front desk looks like a nest of clutter and crap. And you get to park across the street in a disgusting filthy public parking garage. Oh and don't forget the metrolink train horn and noisy neighborhood. A total rip off run by a sleazy management group who obviously has zero interest in maintaining the property. Recently we planned a visit with friends living in Calremont and asked them to recommend someplace really nice to stay. They immediately said - Casa 425, that it was much nicer than other hotels in the area. We took their advice and confirm they were right.! Most hotels have pools. Casa 425 has a courtyard in the center, with a live band played in the evening. There were tables to sit at, drinks and snacks from the small bar. We saw kids playing some sort of table games while the adults chatted and listened. We grabbed a couple of pizzas from the bar - freshly made and tasty. The hotel itself looks old (it's not) but it perfectly cared for. It's decorated with striking paintings by a local artist. Our room was on the second floor, on a corner, with wonderful views. It was so quiet you didn't know the band was playing unless we went outside. In the morning we opened the french windows to enjoy a breeze and views of Claremont Village. I have stayed at Casa 425 twice now and each time has been an enjoyable experience. The rooms are large and comfortable and I love that they come with a large tub for soaking. They provide a lot of comforting amenities like filtered water, bathrobes, soaking salts, reuseable make up removable cloth, and the free breakfast in the morning is great! Good coffee, lots of milk selection, fresh fruit that actually tastes good, breakfast loaves, and lots of grain options. I like that its a healthy selection thats still filling. The courtyard is also really comfortable to hang out in during the day or evening, with fireplaces and heaters. You can order drinks and snacks and enjoy the outdoors in a cool environment. The internet worked great and theres included covered parking in the garage across the street. The staff is also very welcoming and friendly. It was a really restful and fun weekend getaway here. So many great restaurants and activities in walking distance for a low key vacation. read more

Used the 2nd floor meeting room for 3 day company Leadership/Quarterly meeting, 14-16 people. Made the room reservation about a month prior with Vanessa. We had a beverage station set up, and a small fridge stocked with various sparkling waters, cokes, diet cokes. Vanessa let me in the day prior to review and pre- setup. At the end of the day, we cleaned up our food set-up (was allowed to bring in breakfast items and offsite lunch trays) which was awesome. Ethen who worked the evening shift even offered to wash our utensils, and then restocked ice in ice chest. Ramon was there early in the morning to do coffee set up and provide any other needed items. All three of the staff we worked with were great! Have used this room a couple of times - and it's also great that we have several restaurants within a very short walk for dinner. This is a great place to have meetings. The pricing is good too. read more

Amazing eats and refreshing drinks from the bar! This quaint little place is part of a beautiful and meticulously kept hotel also. Our waitress Daniela is a 5 + star server with a 10 star smile and the bartender Brandon made the best drinks ever! We will definitely come back again for a lovely evening by the fire with some delicious small plates and crafted drinks. Check out the chef specials - Brian is an amazing and innovative chef ! There is outdoor seating with fire pylons in a beautiful dimly lit courtyard. If I had a wedding or party to plan, I'd definitely look into booking it here. Stayed this past weekend and had the most amazing time. Ethan at the front desk is top notch. Absolutely amazing energy from the first to last request, he genuinely seemed excited to get my ice for me. During jazz in the courtyard on Saturday night, he was running around making sure everyone had water and everything they needed. Everyone else was extremely friendly but he was excited to be there. I work in hospitality so to see someone that excited, stood out. No complaints except for maybe the breakfast left a bit to be desired and the eggs were extremely soft but otherwise I'd love another opportunity to stay here. I'm close enough to come visit the lounge so I can't wait for that. read more

After reading some of the reviews, I made sure to request a quieter room on the second or third floor. Our room was spacious, quiet (as can be, I mean we are in the Center of Claremont). The staff were wonderful. The complimentary breakfast was absolutely delightful! Price point is a bit high for what you are getting. But there are not a lot of options if you want to stay at Claremont Village. So overall we are satisfied with this place and will return if we are in the area again. We hardly used our rental car!! read more

This is just for their happy hour. The food is delish! I enjoyed the yucca fries so much that I ordered a second order. The blue corn quesadillas with consommé were also really, really good. Overall, my party enjoyed ourselves, and we were happy with our food and drinks. Service was good, and the patio is a perfect place to sit if the weather is nice. Overall the hotel is great.... friendly staff, comfy bed, quiet room. Love that there's a big bath tub but wish it was a jet tub. After saying that I'd like to mention a couple things....there is a big mirror right over the toilet. Weird! My husband basically had to close his eyes to pee because he said it was way to weird to stand there and watch himself in the mirror. Second, the hotel doesn't have parking. They give you a pass which allows you to park overnight in the downtown parking structure across the street. If someone was in the structure looking for cars to break into they would see which cars no one would be coming to check on until morning cause of the giant orange piece of paper you have to put in your windshield. Just good for thought. With that being said I would stay here again it's a nice hotel in a great location. read more

Meh! Not impressed. I was already grumpy coming here on a Saturday for a work meeting! Parking is across the street, so I had to walk my a** in 110 degree heat across the street while dodging retarded hungover drivers on a Saturday morning. Conference room is on the 2nd floor and the bathroom is on the 1st floor, very inconvenient since some of us in this world are cursed w/ a small bladder! I managed to sit through a couple of hours of the meeting until my stomach started to grumble. Lunch was supposed to be catered and served at 12noon, they were late 15min. Whatever no biggie. There were 3 types of croissant sandwiches to choose from: turkey, ham, and roast beef. The roast beef and ham both smelt rotten, and tasted sour. Yikes! food poison alert!! Main course is bad, let's move on to the dessert. The macadamia, chocolate chip, coconut cookie sounded really good, turns out the macadamia nuts were stale. What's up w/ that??? The service is good, and the decor is decent. Probably wouldn't go back tho. read more

The hotel is beautiful, it really is. The bathtub was bigger than my apartment. Just a few things that make me say mehhhhh.... It's expensive. This is Claremont, not San Francisco. Come on. The giant bathtub is in the middle of the room. Front desk staff not the warmest. Seemed like they didn't want to be there, both in the afternoon when we checked in and the totally new staff the following day upon checkout. Bar seemed to close relatively early. Whole city seemed to close relatively early. About 10 parking spots out front maybe, otherwise parking is across the street in the structure. No room service. But like I said, the hotel really is beautiful. read more

A hotel with as many faults as merits! An excellent interior design paired with faulty architecture, and minor imperfections that add up to an unpleasant stay. The most troubling aspect was that the room's entrance was through large transparent door of the balcony, which allowed everyone walking through the hallway to take close and intimate look at the door. The only way to feel private inside the room was by closing the drapes, which covered all sunlight coming to the room. This was really a pain point, regardless how well everything else was setup, having to decide between either sitting in a gloomy room or a room transparent to the world didn't feel right. The continental breakfast was so so, definitely not worth the price of the room. Wish it was a little more welcoming and had more morning options - how about waffles or pancakes? The oatmeal bowl had a flat rice scoop which made it really hard to get the oatmeal, I know this is minor, but still frustrating. read more

I made an appointment to meet with the manager to promote and introduce my business and she was absolutely a delight to chat with!! I only gave this place one star for location. This hotel is super run down. They couldn't have built thIs place any cheaper. It's falling apart and feels dirty. The bed is hard aNd they use really cheap pillows. You can hear the train horn every time it goes by The bathroom is gross. Tiles are cracked and shower is moldy. Do not stay here!! I'm from the area and love Claremont but this place is nasty. It should be closed down and redone. Continental breakfast is not how the pictures on here look. The hotel is so poor in service. When we arrived there were no trolleys left, no bell boy, had to carry our luggages up the tiny ramp ourselves. There is no room service, they don't clean our rooms unless we ask them which is stupid. There is no microwave not even in the kitchen when we asked them to reheat some takeouts. Why is it so hard to reheat some food???? The receptionist was unhelpful. The elevator is dingy and slow, with the only other stairs being on the other side of the hotel which is just poor planning. The only nice thing is that courtyard at night when they light up a fire, otherwise a below average hotel with shitty services and amenities. Only stayed here because it was the only hotel in the village. read more

I live fairly close to Casa 425 so staying here is the best of both worlds: a nice getaway and a "staycation" all at once! Upon arrival you can park right in the front of the building, 20 minute parking, after that you are given a free parking pass for the duration of your stay and may park in the structure across the street.... structure is always packed as it's also day parking for the claremont village. TIP: if u have luggage or need to use a baggage cart bring it out while parked in the 20 min parking. The rooms are beautiful, the one we stayed in had a tub in the center of the room so it's more suited for couples, however there are families there too. The entire front of the rooms and doors double as large windows as well and there are curtains for privacy... we were on the first floor so the hotel lounge was just outside. Small complaint: the complimentary breakfast, which they utilize the bar area for...there was no one managing the area 2 out of the 3 mornings last visit and many items were empty ( cream cheese, bagels, lid for oatmeal pot left open, cream...etc) hopefully that's not typical but overall really great spot! I will say that for the size and actual amenities of the hotel it is quite pricey however I find that being smack dab in the claremont village within walking distance to many different restaurants and shops is does help...No car needed for entertainment once your there.. this is a spot worth returning to! read more

Back in October 2010, I booked a room here for a three night stay during my college reunion in April 2011. The next day, I realized the dates for the reunion listed on my college's website were off by one extra day and I didn't need the third night at the hotel. I called that day (one day after booking) and explained the situation politely to the hotel manager, but they refused to let me out of the third night's prepaid reservation. Even the director of alumnae affairs called the hotel manager and explained the error on the college's website and requested that I be let out of the third night's reservation, but the hotel wouldn't budge on the non-refundable reservation. They weren't even willing to issue a credit for use on a future date. I can understand why a relatively small boutique hotel might have non-refundable reservations during peak periods, like reunion weekend. Its not fair to loose potential bookings because the room has been reserved for someone who ends up canceling at the last minute. That said, this reservation was made SIX MONTHS in advance, the extra night was booked because of an error on my college's website, I called the day after the reservation was made to request cancellation of the third night AND no business was lost due to my reservation of that third night (plenty of rooms remained available on that day). Frankly I'm shocked and deeply disappointed in Casa 425's inflexibility and find this failure of hospitality unforgivable. I would recommend that you stay away. read more

BAIT & SWITCH? We attempted to book a block of rooms for our wedding and were sent the associated information via email. When we attempted to take them up on their offer, they informed us they were reducing the discount to half of what they initially advertised. We didn't feel comfortable subjecting our families to an establishment that isn't willing to follow through on their written advertisements. read more

Some aspects of this hotel are great. It's a really pretty design, the rooms are spacious and well furnished. Comfortable bed and large bath. But... The people working here are useless when you ask for places to eat. Mostly they reply they have no idea because they are not from around here. The free breakfast is 2 types of muffins from the local supermarket and hard boiled eggs. Pretty clearly it's doing the minimum to be able to claim free breakfast. Their Wi-Fi security is a royal PITA. You have to re-enter the username/password every 5 minutes. The list goes on... I give it a 2 instead of a 3 because it's priced as a 5 and doesn't come close. read more

I had my wedding reception at this boutique hotel in 2008 and received many compliments on my hotel pick. The courtyard is u-shaped, I guess it can be a good thing or bad, depending. Only left us with the option to put our head table in front of all the fountains. The bridal party consequently blocked the pretty view of the fountains, and a few drinks later we were stepping in the water, or trying not to... Many of our guests didn't know about this hotel until we had our reception here, it is a total hidden gem. Great for lunch or a quick drink if you don't stay here -- the ambiance is nice. The whole place turned into a beautiful setting for my reception. We rented out the entire hotel so the reception could end at midnight. I guess if you don't reserve and pay for all 28 rooms then your event has to end at 10pm. The decor in the rooms was nice and crisp feeling. The location was convenient - downtown within walking distance to shops and restaurants. And now for the negative... There were 2 bars set up during the reception and we had to pay a 20% gratuity on all drinks - beforehand. No problem! When I saw a tip jar out during the event - I found it a little upsetting. After all, I had already paid the gratuity. Later that week I called and spoke with the manager about this (since I had already pre-tipped the 20% and they were making more money on tips from the tip jar/vase which wasn't right), and she refunded us some of the gratuity charge. If you are hosting an event here I would watch for this. Don't allow them to include the gratuity if they are going to have tip jars out during the event, it looked a little cheap to me. One last thing. I do have to mention that the staff wasn't very friendly or accommodating, seems like they just care about money. Hopefully things have changed. Nice place overall... read more

Weak! Pros: Great location in the heart of Claremont. Very nice courtyard setting with a modern minimalist look and comfortable seating in the courtyard area. Cons: it's obvious that this hotel is run by a very savvy corporate group who's overwhelming objective is return on investment. They have cut every possible corner to claim to offer a service while barely doing it. Some examples: TV is way too small for the space. The cable package is the most basic available with many of channels one would expect 'not available'. The wifi is horrible and barely workable. All soap is through a dispenser (I get that this is disguised as an environmental choice, but the truth is its way cheaper for them). No ice machine on the floors. No room service. 'Breakfast' is hard boiled eggs and some pastries. And on and on.... The sad thing is all they have to do is call it a 'boutique' hotel and voila: problem solved. For the prices they are charging, the lack of some basic amenities is pretty embarrassing. I won't be staying here again! read more

The Four Sisters clearly have a spy at Starwood. Casa 425 is like a "W Express," if such a place existed, right down to the bowl of green apples and the giant tub in the center of the room and the lack of a parking lot. A desert oasis without a swimming pool. A swinger hotel without the swingers, or at least we didn't see any on a Monday night. Right smack in the middle of Claremont's gastopubbery and froyo district, it's as good a place as any to drop your student loan refund or charge daddy's credit card on a hedonistic night of experimental grad school lesbianism. The bar/lounge is more of a pit stop than a destination. Unless you plan to spend your evening sipping on choco-pomegranate martinis and flirting with Kai or Sebastian or whatever 25 year-old philosophy major mixologist happens to be behind the bar screwing up a perfectly good glass of alcohol. read more

Don't stay here if you're traveling for business or need to work while on the go. . The WiFi is awful and impossible to even function (read: Google Docs won't even load). I'm in disbelief that they would invest so little in something so core to the experience here. Stay at the DoubleTree, where the WiFi is infinitely better. Regardless, if you're NOT staying here for business and WiFi isn't an issue, the hotel is super nice and clean. Will stay again. read more
