We started with a chicken Caesar salad followed by an entrecôte with black peppercorn sauce and rosti potatoes served in a separate "Le Creuset" skillet. The Caesar salad impressed with its presentation and delighted in taste, a small deviation from the classical Caesar salad but surprising in its flavours. The entrecôte with black peppercorn sauce was grilled to perfection, simply delicious ! "U" - as this restaurant is simply called - is a reflection of the Flemish polite form for "You" which is how someone is addressed when being polite. It is also a reference to something of high standard, meaning it should be addressed accordingly, hence the name "U" for this high class restaurant. More than class, it simply serves excellent food and wine. This establishment will soon be at the top of every respectable restaurant review list. Try it out before reservations are only available in the distant future and waiting lists are the norm of the day.

Rooms are small but nice (mine had a great view over the harbour). A few details are tainting the experience tough, such as the coffee machine with a broken cover replaced by a home made aluminium foil, or strong harbour smells in the corridor

Note that it's not an American breakfast with eggs and bacon. They have salami, ham, bread, cheese, yogurt, fruit, cereals , juice, and coffee. The rooms on the back side facing the water and the Mas are very quiet. The staff was all very friendly and super helpful. Like some hotels in Europe, they are on a dual-climate system. That means on a certain day, the hotel flips a switch and the system in your room (and the whole hotel) goes from being AC to being heat. I checked in my room and thought it was warm. So I turned what I thought was the AC all the way up and left the room. Big mistake! When in Europe always ask about the climate control systems! The window does open, but only about an inch due to a regulation. The beds were good, not great, but better than some of my other hotels. By European standards the room is huge. Staff was very friendly and super helpful. Unlike some hotels, the free wifi has good throughput. Definitely a great option when staying in Antwerp. Be sure to ask the hotel the best route to get to old town, as the small red light district is in between, but easily avoided.

I am a new fan of the Ramada Plaza in Antwerp! The Ramada Plaza is going through some renovation…read moreat the moment, but it is still a lovely hotel to stay over night. It is situated in the business community of Antwerp. The Ramada has a small gym, nice sauna, and night club attach to it. I was too tired to try out the night club, so I guess that I will have to come back for that next time. The rooms were spacious, comfortable and designed well. I love the neighborhood, it had a nice residential feel to it , despite it being located in the business community. I was very happy with my room and the hotel. My Dutchman appreciated the spa very much so.... The only thing that I felt needed improvement was the breakfast. So not worth 15 euros a person, but if you are stuck there on a Sunday, it maybe your only option, because I did not see too many places open so early in Antwerp. The weather was fabulous, we got the chance to take a lovely stroll through the park next door and enjoy a lovely meal around the corner from the hotel. The Italian Restaurant Brusketta was phenomenal, if you are dining at this hotel you must have dinner there. I love this Italian restaurant! The hotel, customer service, neighborhood, and location was ideal for me.

Nice big rooms with good bathroom and comfortable bed, but the first thing I noticed was the lack of a fluffy bathrobe. However, one was delivered to my room about 90 seconds after I'd phoned housekeeping to request one. Someone else arrived promptly to fix the heating soon after (it was freezing in the room). When I woke in the early hours of the following morning to discover my phone battery was empty, the receptionist recharged it for me (thank goodness for the fluffy bathrobe). They also called me a cab so that I could make my way to Brussels Eurostar for a quick getaway back to the office. The only gripe was with room service - why do so many hotels think it's OK to serve a hot meal on a cold plate (and with no cover)? Apart from that, full marks to them. PS I have no idea how expensive this hotel is, as the airline paid for it.
