The decor is along the Irish Bar theme but very tasteful and the whole place has a fabulous atmosphere at any time of the day or night. O'Gradys restaurant is to die for! Their Sunday lunches are divine and only £7.95 for three courses. Delicious home-cooked Yorkshire puds with a choice of three meats and plenty of fresh vegetables. This can be served in the bar at any time but the restaurant is much nicer - you need to book though. O'Gradys has some great live music and it's worth keeping an eye out for when bands are playing there. It does get quite packed though so go early and get a seat. Drinks are competitively priced and the bar staff are very helpfuland friendly.

I booked in here in an emergency as it was close to my mum who was ill. I was appalled at the state…read moreof it. I was shown a room which can only be described as hostel like. There was no phone (which they had said there was), no wifi (I was too far away from the hub according to them), the toilet was broken and dirty, the waste basket hadn't been emptied and there was underwear in it and the bedding was a counterpane - this was January and it was snowing! There was little heating in the room. I called the receptionist on my phone and when she came to the room she said she couldn't see anything wrong with it. The smell of cooking (cabbage like) in the reception area was overwhelming. I had to argue with the "director", who refused to look up from his computer, just to get my money back. If you're thinking of staying here only do it if you like dirty places with staff who don't give a damn. If I could give this zero stars I would.

Firstly no elevator so had to lug my fully packed and over weight bags up the stairs. Secondly only one way in to the building so a long walk from the room to the door. Thirdly no iron in the rooms so had to walk my fat a@& to the front desk (note a desk not reception) then lug the iron and ironing board up the stairs through all the security doors, no alarm clocks and the tv alarm was disabled so had to get a wake up call. 5 am the next day I realise no phone in room because someone is knocking on my door crap that's a wake up call? No aircon in the rooms pet peeve of mine I know it's not needed much in this part of the uk but when it's needed it's needed and it's been around for a really long time In the plus side the staff were super friendly and the did come wake me up by knocking on my door at 5am Would I stay here again? No freaking way I'd rather stay in Newcastle and make the hour drive to this town
