But my complaint (having booked from the US based on location and a 4-star hotel rating) was that there was no soap in the shower. There WAS a hand soap dispenser near the bathroom sink but hold a handful of liquid soap and carting that into the shower while totally wet is unacceptable, and dangerous if one slipped, as I almost did. Maybe someone forgot (housekeeping fail?) or just negligence. So that's why I knock off 2 stars, a an extremely inconvenient situation!

(You almost certainly need a GPS to find it; ours was on the fritz.) It's family-run, in the best way: Everyone cares about making you happy, and they go out of their way to find out what you need. The guy at the front desk offered to loan us his own GPS, for instance, while we were trying to figure out how to fix ours. In addition to the breakfast that was included (nothing "wow" by German standards, though I remember it fondly), the kitchen also makes a good traditional dinner, and plenty of locals stop by. Next door is a kirsch distillery, which means you can do some taste-testing and stumble back to your room a little drunkenly. (Also with a few bottles to take home.) The price was more than reasonable, too. When we get back to the area again, it's going to be our first choice.

Our stay was absolutely outstanding! We are from the states and was recommended to stay at this…read morehotel. Service was excellent. Rooms were cozy and the bed mattress were super comfortable. The food was spectacular and overall this is a wonderful place to stay.
