My main (the tartar) was very delicious though! i guess if you go for the 4-course menue they have you hopefully wont get disappointed Service: i experienced there one of the unfriendliest service in this region. he didnt hear us multiple times and we even had to go to him and tell him what we want!! not friendly at all and additionally unprofessional too. not a very good mixture..... the other servant (a german guy) looked very friendly and made a professional impression. unfortunately he wasnt our server. Ambience: they have three different areas. we were at the "Le pavilion" which is modern and ok. they also have a very traditional area (all-wooden) which looks pretty cool. depends on what taste you have but i'd prefer the all-wooden one. in the conclusion i cant really say what i think about this restaurant. on the first hand it has good looking food and it looks like they have good service too. what i experienced was something else though. but i'd give it a second try and maybe my experience would be better then.

We paid around 90 euros for a double bed -- which is very doable for Basel, Switzerland. Switserland is always expensive, except for their chocolates. And free wifi for up to 4 connections! (Sidenote & tip: You should buy some Toblerone or Lindt while in the country.) The concept of ibis embraces a minimalist look and surroundings, with small spaces and efficiency as the highest priority. A big bed, a clean shower, sink, toilet and tv. The room can always accommodate more people as a separate bunkbed has been built above the head of the large double. We used to put both our young boys in the one bunkbed above. It has a good railing around it. Breakfast looked good with cappuccino, tea, hard rolls, cereals and yoghurt. If you arrive later in the evening, know that they have ready made meals which you can heat in a microwave. Snacks and sodas can be purchased as well. Parking was available against a payment out front. What I personally love, is the separate toilet so that you don't overwhelm one another with your odor. I wish all hotels had that and, come to think of it, my own home (but we cannot actualize that).

If…read moreyou fly into Basel airport you take bus 50 all the way to the last stop (15 minutes) and it parks practically in front of the hotel. They were very accommodating and even provided us free use of a transformer so we could charge our 240V phones. Water bottle in the room and free espresso machine on each floor. They also provide free trolley passes and wi fi. Staff is incredibly knowledgeable and friendly and speaks proficient English.

The lobby is huge and it has indoor and outdoor seating. There is a restaurant in the lobby but we did not try it. The rooms are plain but comfortable. The air worked great during our hot summer stay. The noise in the hallways do carry. There is a nice place to sit outside in warmer months.
