Changed our plans one night and came here for dinner instead of another restaurant…read more We walked by many times and somehow never made it for dinner here. So we made a same-day reservation for an inside table. Our Bulldog being welcome as well. It's a very comfy, classic and relaxing Italian restaurant. Lots of tables inside and some more across the street by the water. It was a weekday, but the restaurant was booked pretty well. Lots of Italian classics as well as fish and seafood items on the menu. Really something for everybody. Had mussels marinara and the shrimp skewers for starters. Both very good items, nice and fresh. A good load of mussels for the price. An Aperol Spritz each for starters. For the mains the Cotoletta alla Milanese (deep-fried pork cutlet) and the Spaghetti Vongole (clams). Again, both choices excellent. The pork was crispy outside, but still juicy and tender inside. And the Spaghetti had nice seafood flavour with a good load of fresh clams. The bottle of local Vermentino went well with the seafood. Waiting staff was very welcoming, took care of us very nicely. And all did cost us just over 120 Euros. A fair price. Lovely atmosphere, good food, great staff and fair prices. Surely not our last time here.

This region in Italy invented pesto and this small restaurant in Santa Margherita serves the best…read moreexample of the dish. We ate here night #1 and went back again tonight for our final dinner in Italy. Having taken a private cooking lesson at our apartment (yielding pesto and a baked fish that would make you freakin' cry), my wife engaged the waiter in a 15-minute convo re: how their pesto is so much better than any others we tried in the area. This restaurant sources its basil from a tiny, local farm that only provides the herb to four area restaurants and is selected because its location is just the right distance from the sea (affecting taste) and uses only uses the youngest, local pine nuts, and goes easy on the best olive oil and parmesan from the area. He didn't mind sharing his recipe one bit because there is no way even the best chef anywhere else could get a hold of his ingredients and re-create it. We were admonished that buying local pine nuts and smuggling them aboard our flight would cause a change in flavor due to cabin pressure. We wish we'd never eaten this pesto because it has forever ruined pesto anywhere else for us (it's that damn good)!
