Both large and small dog parks are double gated so the dogs cant get out and run off. The area for the small dogs is maybe a third if the size of the large dog side. There is fresh water for your dog to get drinks and there's a poopie bag dispenser so you can clean your mess. Most of the people here pay attention to their dogs behavior and I personally haven't seen a blown out dog fight. Its a good social spot for you and your dog. Not much seating area but there are a few fixed benches in the fenced parks. Parking is usually available and near the park entrances. If your dog needs a energy release, give this place a try.

you have to love what these geniuses did with the small amount of space available to them. they…read moretook what would otherwise have been a rather average nine holes and turned it into something that you can play as 18 (some say 27, but in my opinion, there isn't enough of a difference between the short and middle tees to make it interesting). this is a fun little course, moderately wooded throughout with a nice mix of tight and open fairways. lots of fun hills, including my favorite kind of high-beauty/high-penalty hole where you throw across a min-ravine with a creek in the middle. this course could have easily been a 2 or 3 star because of it's size and the public bike/walking path that runs through the middle, but the creative layout and generous spacing between the three tee pads on each hole make it a lot of fun in a little package.

I am sharing this for documentation of an injury that happened at the Bluemont course today…read more(5/9/26) around 11am. context: family and I disc-golfed today. as i finished hole 1 with my 3yo kid by my side, we were about to start hole 2. we didnt hear any warning or a "fore" call. incident: someone threw a mid-range disc into my kid's face. the throw came from the direction of hole 2 towards hole 3. my kid bled from their nose and mouth; blood all over their face and clothes. afterwards: the thrower did *NOT* come over to check on us after hitting us with a throw, nor apologized. I went over to tell them what happened and they had excuses and even tried to blame us for being in the way. I gave them a piece of my mind but had no way to hold the thrower accountable. the beveled edge disc was so close to hitting my kid's eyes. these two adult men cowards tried to wait for us to leave so they can go on playing. review: this is horrible behavior as people in public space and definitely worse as members in the frisbee community. it is just so wrong and unfair that these two grown men to hurt someone.. a small child... and acted like nothing happened and showed no remorse. call to action: 1. Be on the look out for a heavy-set asian man, short black hair with sunglasses and a medium built latino man with ear-length curly black hair. both about 5"7" to 5'9" tall and in their mid- to late-30s. they cant hit the basket but will shamelessly hit a child . losers. 2. dont hit people with a disc golf. if you do, be a normal person and help the person you injured and apologize. simple, right?

It's a smaller State park and slightly confusing with the direction's but the staff was helpful just get a map. We camped in a "walk back" section of E. Very spacious sites with the bathroom/shower reasonably close. Parking was "ok"..... but they fill up and then you have to use overflow. The bathrooms/showers were clean BUT I guess I'm used to sites that spray repellent because nature is boss. We drove through the comfort sites of D and they were too tight for my liking. They have yurts and cabins but for me a tad too close. They do have an Island camp site Loved it!!!!! That's a must do. It's 2 sites across a short walking bridge with water view and access. I would definitely go back.

One thing I don't understand is why the Park Maintenance people don't cut the Wisteria growth on the trees? Some trees have vines over two inches in diameter. This is a spot where no reservations are needed, and the cost is extremely reasonable. Anything outdoors is appreciated. Yet it's time for the county to make some repairs. The course isn't as well maintained as it was. There are roots that can make you be more vigilant. Personally I'd rather relax, but pay attention to where you walk. The containers are aging. My hope is this year they'll fix it up. Obviously that's up to the park authority. If you want to try out this activity, this is a good place to start.

Numerous trails and options throughout, and the park is open from 7 AM until dusk. Among the options are a dog park, art galleries, playgrounds, kayak rentals, ice skating, and picnic areas. I did not get to the Visitors Center, as it closed at 4 PM. We visited the South River Overlook Trail, which was four-tenths of a mile in length, and had benches at the water to fully enjoy and appreciate the spectacular views. There are six other trails, ranging to as much as a mile and one-half in length. An $8 entry fee for automobiles, additional for larger vehicles, and they also offer lifetime senior passes.

This is the only Metro accessible disc golf course in the area, located less than one mile from the College Park stop. There are 18 holes, each hole has three seperate tee boxes to provide a challenge for almost any skill level. While none of the holes are impossible, several are tricky and will test your skills. To purchase discs (a set will run less than $50, the only investment you'll ever need to make to play disc golf), try the REI in College Park or the airport museum next door to the course.

Oh and the bathrooms next to the park are always clean and have toilet paper which is a big plus :)
