Alas, the food is savory, seasoned and solid so you will be back. Their dumplings are delicious and must have a little bit of love in them. I have had the saltfish, callaloo, oxtail, rice and peas, mac and cheese, beef patties, plantains and both the baked and jerk chicken. The cabbage I could do without but their other veggies are spot on. They offer the typical Caribbean assortment of fresh and packaged beverages. This is the worst experience I have had ever! I ordered ackee and salt fish and what I received was salt fish and onions. When it arrived the bag was wet and oil had spilled everywhere! I had to get a tray to make sure I didn't mess up my kitchen. Then once I opened that bag there was oil everywhere!! But the menu was a bit pricy for such limited selections and small portions. So we decided against it & said maybe we'd try it another time. We walked in this place initially to take a glance at the menu but we liked the variety and the prices are decent. Believe it or not, I was sold when I saw the option for a chicken patty with cheese!!! I've been trying to find a place that sells their patties with cheese for quite a while. Golden Krust is so commercial. But anyway, I ordered a chicken patty w/cheese. It was $2.50 (I think $2 w/out), not bad. Although I know it'd be cheaper in jersey. The chicken patty was good. They used yellow american cheese, I'd prefer mozzarella. That's the way I've had it in years past. I'm not jamaican, just a taste preference. Thumbs up, though. I'd get it again! You can tell this place is the real deal as far as good, homecooked authentic jamaican cuisine. There are 2 ladies behind the counter just waiting for you to tell them what you'd like. Its all to-go orders, no seating/tables. The containers are small $7.50/medium $10.50/large I dont remember. Each entree comes with 2 sides. I ordered a medium size curry chicken w/rice&beans and cabbage. There's no tax (which i love). My curry chicken was really good. The cabbage was a bit spicy but good. It had bits of corn, carrots and green beans in it. Different but tasty. The rice and beans were a little under seasoned but great paired with the curry chicken and sauce thats on the chicken. For such a small container she packed it to capacity! I was only able to finish 1/2 and I was stuffed. Let me add this important fact, I am in no way a fan of plantains. Never have been. When I saw the lady making my platter I watched her place a few on top of my rice and I just decided I'd take them off & throw them out as soon as I began eating. Well that never happened!! These plantains just had a different look. So I decided to try one and to my pleasant surprise they were so delicious and sweet. I was told that's how they're supposed to taste. But that's never been my experience in the past. So if you can get ME to like plantains, that's a very big deal!! So 5 stars (instead of 4 originally) are well deserved!! Mediocre Jamaican food at best. Ordered through Uber eats and on the app you can pick an entree and two sides so I chose curry chicken as the entree and, rice + peas, and plantains as my two sides. I ordered a third separate side of cabbage + vegetables because I love my cabbage. I also ordered a beef pattie with coco bread. When the order came I opened my food and there was cabbage already with the curry chicken and rice+peas/plantains, along with the extra side of cabbage I paid for because the app didn't say it already came with the entree....had I known that then I wouldn't have ordered and paid for an extra side of it. Onto the food....the curry chicken had good flavor, but it needed extra gravy on top because it was a little dry. The rice and peas was made properly and probably the best thing about the plate. The plantains were AWFUL probably the worst I've ever had, tasted like straight cardboard, not sweet and soft like they're supposed to be. The cabbage was decent. The beef pattie was not good, I'm not sure if it had been sitting in the warmer for too long, but the inside was hard. The coco bread was just ok as well. Good mom and pop Jamaican spot. You can tell the food is cooked with love and they care about the quality. Jerk chicken was good, sides were delicious. The homemade patties were amazing. Only improvement I would suggest that is particular to my own tastes are I wish they served creamy coleslaw to cut against the fat and spiciness of the jerk chicken. Also, I prefer a sweeter taste to the jerk chicken. The jerk chicken tasted like it came freshly off the grill. The rice and peas were delicious and covered with oxtail gravy just as I had requested. It's great paying $40 through Uber Eats to receive your order with a pool of oxtail juice chill-axing in the bottom of the bag. You would think to blame the delivery guy but once I had managed to get through the messy wet bag, I took notice that my oxtail dinner with a side of collard greens and sweet yams (all three are moist and juicy items as it should) was packaged altogether in an aluminum tin foil container with the plastic top that requires pressing full diameter to close. Of course, my order was not closed thoroughly thus a beautiful disaster... juice everywhere. Now, I know accidents happen. However, if the business management contracts with a third party company, Uber Eats, to increase business then its their responsibility to make sure to invest in better packaging. Especially, if they want returning customers, duh, that's where the money is...in returning customers. Don't pissed them off! I tried calling the restaurant to speak to a manager and express my horrible experience, but one of the workers told me the manager wasn't there and to called tomorrow. I responded "okay, what is the manager's name?" I placed my order with this place earlier this evening because my first choice restaurant was closed. Let me say I had this food a few months ago & was satisfied but tonight I don't know wtf happened. First they called to say they ran out of yams, ok no problem we'll take cabbage, food arrived quickly, great but then I opened the bag. The visual was unappealing and the taste was equally bad.
