Merchandise shop!

HC 2015! I really thought/had a strong feeling this race was going to be a NOT so fun race since THOUSANDS of people show up.... but I was pleasantly surprised. Whoever is in charge of this race did a good job setting everything up. It was a great venue & I could tell it was run pretty efficiently. I suppose that has to happen since 10,000+ people show, ha. One of my girlfriends picked up my race packet along with hers since she had time to go on Friday! She said it was a quick pick up. But then again, she went on Friday... so when most people were working. That may have been a factor as to why she got ours so fast. Not sure what would have happened if we went Saturday. The jacket we both got are really nice. Soft and light. It's a nice jacket to wear if you're out and about grocery shopping or just talking a walk in your neighborhood on a windy day. Size wise - I got a Medium and it fits perfectly. I was kind of worried the girls' size would be one of those jackets that had a weird fit size. I would highly recommend getting the parking pass. It's only 10 bucks. Carpool with your friends! As crazy as this sounds - my friend and I got up at 4:15AM and was out the door by 4:45AM and in our parking spot by 5AM. We took a nap in the car for like 2 hours. TIP: Oh yeah, make sure to bring blankets, haha. It was cold in the car. Around 715ish AM, there were a lot of people going down to the area where everything was set up. There was a stage, Merchandise Shop, Corrals, and etc. The music that was playing at stage were all old school, which I LOVE! It was nice to hear some of old songs. At the stage, there was a "HC run" background drop and a blown up marshmallow for folks to take pictures with. I think the 1st wave of runners started at 7:25AM (Corrals A-I(?)) b/c my friend and I went to see where we should go, but only saw A B C and etc near the front. So we went back to the stage and hung around. We went again around 8:15ish AM and saw Corrals J-Z were finally near the front! The 5K had 3 hills. Massive ones. After 2 hills, I just walked up the last one. A little bit intense, ha. But enjoyable. I run 5 days a week, but on flat land, so those hills took away 50% of my energy. Oh well. Not sure how many the 15K had, but I'm assuming at least 5. Also, the 5K had 1 water station. Not bad, but meh, I was hoping for 2. But it's ok. I should have hydrated beforehand anyway. When we reached the finish line - there was a huge crowd... I kind of though it'd take us like an hour to get our reward... only took us 5 seconds. People with megaphones were everywhere to make sure people weren't idling around the areas people were trying to get to. Therefore, the line went fairly fast. The reward bowl included a delicious cup of hot chocolate, dipping chocolate, marshmallow, pretzels, a banana, waffle sticks. I think we sat down to eat for like 30 mins... my body was hurting ha. I never thought I'd crave the sun so much till that morning. As for leaving... we left around 10:30AM. By that time, traffic was kind of over.... the race was still going on, but we got lucky and were able to get into the lanes closer to the freeway. I'll have to do the 15K one year. Gotta train. I think the semi serious runners should do the 15K while the Just For Fun runners should do the 5K.

We loved the race hoodies and as a runner I loved that the hoodie had a zippered pocket in the back.

This year when I applied, I made sure to also submit proof of time to secure an early Corral. I was accepted and made it into Corral B, which I was happy with - although a very early start while adjusting to East Coast time. I also needed to purchase race day bib pick up because I would not be in town on any of the four pick up days in the couple of weeks leading up to race weekend. I stayed at a hotel in Buckhead the evening before the race, and not terribly far from the start. However, waking up was a bit delayed for me and I knew I could start in a later Corral so I wasn't in a real big rush. I left my hotel around 610A to try to get to bib pick up and make it to my 640A start but that didn't happen. Bib pick up was a bit further back than I thought, which wasn't a problem but didn't allow me to start with the B or C Corral. I did however by pass several of the other Corrals and made it to D with plenty of time to spare. I felt totally comfy starting here at 7A and noticed many others with earlier times starting here. I had every intention on fun running this race. I really wanted to take it all in, especially being that it is only a 10k but one of the bucket list races. I've always wanted to run it and while it was split between the 3rd and 4th of July this year (I of course selected the 4th) and the numbers were way down from the usual 60k runners all in one day, I was beyond thrilled the entire time. My heart was happy jogging along nearly effortlessly and just watching the runners, taking in the course, high fiving the spectators, saying hello to the dogs, checking out all of the sights and businesses, getting my holy water blessing, all the while perpetually wiping off the insane amount of sweat or water that was pouring off of my face from the humidity. Never in my life have I been this soaked, other than a marathon I ran in a literal typhoon in the Cape. When my sister commented on a pic I sent her from the race, and said I was glowing - I thought to myself well about 5 buckets of water have dripped out of my face over the last 6.2 miles. This race is so much fun. It's an easy comfortable run. I was a bit anxious about "cardiac hill" and must have really thought I was about to run up Mt Everest because the entire race I kept waiting for it and not wondering if it had happened yet or if it was still to come. I think now that it's over, I may be able to pinpoint what they refer to as it, but it's nothing that'll stop you in your tracks - or it shouldn't I should say. I was able to run the entire time so there was no elevation gain that wasn't gradual enough to handle. I'm not certain if I'll one day run this course for time, knowing it better now but I really wanted to just soak (no pun intended) it all in being my second race back after everything we've all been through the past 16 months. I continued to choke up and get so emotional just talking about how grateful I am to have road racing back in my life. It nearly feels surreal to have been on a course with even 17k people. I can't wait to apply for next year as I really want to experience the World's Largest Road Race in all it's glory with everyone on one day. I do wish they gave out medals but they give out t-shirts which is their thing and I'm perfectly happy with. Staying the holiday weekend in Atlanta provided me with the opportunity to witness just how important and meaningful this event is to this community, and my heart is so full being able to have been a part of this. The news played coverage and interviews all day, the mayor ran it, a senator (not Jon, that's not why I'm giving it 5 STARS, I know! He's married but gosh that really would have made my day), Sara won :) which I'd heard before I even started and made the day that much better, along with many other elite runners. It was quite special, even if it was different than years past. Thank you to everyone who made this Peachtree Race possible! Fingers crossed I get in next year because I really can't wait to be back.

(The previous day Nicole and I had run in Chattanooga on Raccoon Mountain). The aid stations appeared to be about every 2 miles, which was good. There were three distinct food stations featuring orange slices, jelly beans, and Oreo cookies. To wash it down the electrolyte drink of choice was Powerade (blue, red and yellow) and of-course water. The course took you through at least three university campuses, a park system and quaint neighborhoods of Atlanta. I can't keep emphasizing the hills. They kept coming and coming! Despite the cooler weather which typically helps to increase course speed, this was not your PR course. The race swag included: a long sleeve shirt and a decent sized (although unattractive) medal 4" inches in diameter. Finishers got a lunch snack box, chocolate milk, water and a warming jacket to fend off the wind. Finishing in Centennial Olympic Park definitely was a nice touch and I felt like this marathon featured many different city segments.

I love this race…read more I have done the full marathon twice now and it just gets better every year. The real reason this race is so great is the course. It really showcases the best of Atlanta. From Downtown, to Sweet Auburn, Inman Park and Candler Park. Through Decatur and Druid Hills, Midtown and Va-Hi, you get a tour of all that is great about Atlanta. And since it is run in the spring, all of our glorious trees are out in bloom. Warning, Atlanta is hilly and so is this race, but it is so worth it. The crowd support is growing - great on the first 13, dwindling toward the end, but in a few years will be up there with the other big city marathons. The water stops have now been "outsourced" to charity and corporate partners, and since there is a competition, the partners go all out., which makes the race a lot of fun, since every few miles you get to encounter a team of volunteers excited to cheer you on. Which was sad because we were supposed to be there to celebrate my son's 13th birthday. He was excited to try this place out. We drove over an hour to be disappointed. First we walk in an hour after opening on a Sunday, place was empty.......we walk right up to the counter and I tell the girl that I had looked the pricing up online and I knew I wanted to do the 3 race, game card, and k1 membership pass for 3 boys. She gave me a blank stare and then said oh you mean 2 race. Ok. Rude. But ok yeah that. She proceeds to ask the boys had they ever been there before. 1 of my sons friends says yes. So she goes you need to go check him on the computer with a waiver first because he has a membership so you won't pay for that part for him. Here I am thinking oh she is being helpful after being wrong. I smile. We go to computers do the waiver for 1 boy as instructed. We go back to the counter now 2 more groups have come in. We have to wait behind 1 group now since there is only one cashier/check in person although there were at least 5 other staff in the building including a manager. Anyway after we wait for that group to check in. I step back to the counter and THEN she proceeds to tell me oh you didn't do the waiver for the other two. I'm like you told me to do it only for the one that had been here before. So again we step out of line and go BACK to the computers. At this time I'm starting to get annoyed. By this time more people are coming in, so now my boys will have to wait behind several big groups when we arrived before ALL of these people. When I finally get back to the counter.....all boys are checked in. She got RUDE again. And wanted to loudly explain pricing to me and make sure I knew that the boys only got a $10 game card for what I was about to pay. Like VERY loud. I didn't hear her do this with any of the other groups that checked in before us and I hate to say this.......none of them were my complexion. Never once was I rude or matching her volume or tone. We actually walked in that place happy because we were supposed to be celebrating. Well anyway it didn't stop there. Once we got checked no instructions were given on what to do next outside of the girl at the counter giving me my receipt and their game cards. So my boys walked over to where you line up to go on the track and yet another employee was RUDE to them by telling them to back away from the gate and wait for someone to call them. They are EXCITED to be here Jeesh, so then after she yells at them they come over to me saying they not going to let her ruin the joy. They finally get called to race and all the boys are overwhelmed after the employees stopped the cars several time or slowed their speed down all during the race. Then in between their first and second race we went to their "arcade" which only has 12 games......which none of them are less than 40 credits for 1 game. $10 gets you 200 in credits. While one of the boys was in the process of playing a game they got called back for their 2nd race. It was EVEN worse than the first one. We decided to opt out of trying their food and went somewhere else to grab lunch. 0 stars would not recommend.

Andretti's in Buford is basically a playground for adults disguised as a sleek entertainment complex. The space feels modern and high-energy, with neon lighting, polished concrete, glowing game zones, and that constant hum of excitement from the arcade floor and track. It's part adrenaline, part date night, and part "we are absolutely children and proud of it." We spent the evening bouncing between arcade games, fully embracing our competitive sides. The ticket machines kept spitting out proof of our triumphs, and after a heroic run of wins, we cashed in for the ultimate symbol of arcade victory: a lava lamp. Nothing strengthens a relationship like carrying a glowing tube of molten nostalgia to the car. The atmosphere is lively without feeling chaotic, making it easy to laugh, play, and celebrate small victories together. Staff were friendly, the games were in great shape, and the entire place runs with the efficiency of somewhere that understands people came to have fun, not stand around waiting. If you're looking for a Valentine's date that swaps candlelight for neon glow and roses for arcade tickets, Andretti's delivers.
