The location is great. We could walk to many restaurants and beaches (see my review on La Gatita) and the Jumbo grocery store is a short drive away. Even though the building faces the water, so you think that would be west, it is actually facing north, so the patios/balconies are almost always shaded. The staff were very helpful and friendly. There is ramp access to the hotel and the pool and the building has an elevator. Only the front office has stairs and no other access option that I saw. The kitchen had less than the bare minimum. That is my only complaint. There was no sharp knife or baking dish to use in the oven. There was a salt shaker, but no pepper. Typically in US rentals, there are more non-perishable staples and kitchen gear left behind by other renters or provided by the owner. We left the good knife, glass dish, and extra cutting board we bought at Jumbo so hopefully the next renters get to enjoy those!

What does make a hangover better? -lots of espresso My favorite thing about this terrace restaurant, though, are the performers who come by and randomly play a trio of songs. That turned out to be the best hangover cure of all. So there I was, hunched over a tiny cup of coffee, when this woman's voice pierced my heart cavity. It was accompanied by the soft percussion sounds of a bunch of clams. Yes, you read that right. One guy in her band was playing the freakin' clams as a percussion instrument. Who knew they could make such a beautiful sound? Anyway, the vocalist sang Tu Falta de Querer with so much passion I looked up the song afterwards and have been listening to it since. These unexpected occurrences are what make Valparaiso a truly magical city. Dammit, take me back. Why am I typing on a computer right now?!
