We came in at 630 and there seemed to be a pretty rude group sitting by the window, we over heard her nasty attitude and we felt so bad for the server but she was absolutely fantastic anyway and didn't let it bring her down! This is truly the most beautiful resort with the best amenities & best restaurant on Leach Lake. The resort & restaurant, "Iron Fire bar & grill" is under new management. The owners are wonderful. We went to the restaurant & enjoyed their outdoor menu specializing in burgers & brats with all the extras. The prime rib burgers were the best I have ever eaten. We were a party of 8, & all of us were overwhelmed with the service, drinks, & food. Nick , the manager, conducted a wine tasting at our table featuring wines from a local winery while we took in the lake view sunset. Two of us later ordered dinner from their main menu, which is amazing! We got the ribeye & pork chop dinners & were blown away. The fresh red & green pepper topping & perfectly seasoned vegetables & potatoes were far better than anything I've gotten from years of dining at the Chase & other local restaurants, & the prices are so reasonable. Boulders is the other good restaurant in town, but you'll spend 3 times more & it's not on the lake. Kudos to Nick as head chief & manager. We will be coming back again & again by boat, snowmobile, & car. read more

Amazing location! Tons of water activities for the family! My kids stayed busy for hours and when the sun went down, we moved into the pool for more water play! The food was delicious and the rooms were accommodating and clean! Cameron and Courtney are friendly and have done an incredible job as new owners! We Will definitely stay again! The worse service ever at their restaurant. It's Sunday night Labor Day weekend and they are hardly busy. We had a reservation for 6:30 and we are an hour and fifteen minutes and no dinner. We ordered two drinks each because the server only showed up like every 30 minutes. read more

I called the owner Cam to make my reservation for Memorial Day weekend, It was last minute so I asked him if he had any rooms, and he said he had a lot of rooms left. I then asked if I could get the same room as last time when we stayed and he said yes. We drove 2 hours and got there about 8:00 at night, Cam's wife, Courtney said well Cam couldn't have said that because there is already someone in that room. I said" Um ok ". She then gave us keys to a different room but then took them back right away because that room had not been cleaned. So she gave us keys to another room and when we went into the room, the mattresses were about 12 inches off the floor! My daughter, who was already staying there sat on one and said Mom they are really hard, there is no way anyone can sleep on these. My daughter went to the office and they gave her keys to a room upstairs when I had requested a first floor room. My daughter was really upset as she said Courtney was really rude to her. I then went to the office and asked what was going on? She came at me all nasty and said "So your saying my stuff is sh*t!" I said," No I never said that at all, I was just wondering if I could get a room with a normal size bed like the one I had reserved in the first place." She then gave me my money back and told me to go stay somewhere else. I walked out of there crying. As a hotel owner myself, I would never use vulgar language nor would I ever treat my guests that way as they are what makes my business and puts a roof over my head. That is just unacceptable. So then we were scrambling at the last minute to find another place to stay. I called 6 other resorts and they were all booked except Horseshoe Bay of course. My husband had worked the overnight shift and was exhausted so he didn't want to drive another 2 hours back home. We pulled over on the side of the road and prayed. I then called the last place which was Chase On The Lake. They had a last minute cancellation. We checked in there at about 10:00 pm. I told the front desk clerk what had happened and then when we got to our room, she knocked on the door and gave me a beautiful pair of earrings that she had made and gave me a hug because she knew I had a bad day. Now that is hospitality at it's finest! Go Stay at Chase On The Lake! You won't be disappointed. Their rooms are beautiful and the lake scene is breathtaking! I believe everything happens for a reason and we ended up at the right place so there is a happy ending to this disaster. read more

We rented joining cabins and a room in the pool building. We had ten people ages 2-retired. The cabins showed their age but overall they were OK for sleeping and showering. The pool room was a bit outdated but nicer than the cabins. The pool, hot tub and sauna were nice and a great spot for a rainy/cloudy day. The sandy beach is really nice with a big trampoline in the swimming area. The water toys were fun but showed their age and needed some repairs. The marina is nice and the dock guy was helpful and friendly. The restaurant/bar has good food and the servers were great. Many in our group said the walleye supper was excellent. The owners hosted a picnic and minnow races for the kids during the week. The resort is pet friendly but unfortunately too many people allowed their dogs to run on the beach and around the grounds. We visited with the new owners and they hope to update the cabins and water toys as money allows. I hope they do as it's a great property with a ton of potential. read more

Rented a cabin for a week Property beautiful. Cabin very disappointing. The managers answers to our tests kept pointing to the fact that the cabin was going to be torn down. Leaking pipes, mold under sink, rodent repeatedly enterting our cabin two broken screens , skunk visiting garbage can do to hole in can , dog hair in all ceiling fans and excessive hair on couches. We asked for a one day of seven day refund and the manager denied our request staring that it was our fault for not complaining duri ng our stay The pipe was repaired but still mold under cabin. Be careful when you rent from this resort as there are others to choose from in the area. For us , it is all about customer service and owning up to a problem. The resort is gorgeous and the employees are very friendly and accommodating. There are hotel rooms, cabins, chateaus, condos, and areas for tent and camper set up. There is an indoor pool, and also a swimming beach. Boat rentals or slip rentals are available. Paddleboarding was the best thing I did here. The restaurant has good food and service. I have been to Horseshoe Bay Resort before these new owners took it over the years. Which I and group of other people had enjoyed this place which was very spotless and clean. NOW we book 17th Friday thru 19th Sunday went up there me and my 3 sons and friend. It only get better me and other person got Room 204 my sons got room next to us 205 or 206? Room problems 204 the door entering room does not close all the way.That has been from the first time that I came up there with group. Bathroom door has a big hole in it both beds hard as a rock like sleeping on box spring. Room stunk like cig smoke house keeping never came to clean either rooms while we were there. Wall heaters made enough racket keep up both rooms. Park our trucks and trailers on south end of building. The lot had lots and lots of dog shit with big piles all over it. The sauna which was never told to us when we made reservations was broke out of order like the rest of the place. Also don't expect to get breakfast soon not till noon was not like that before. Main office does not open until 9am. When I went to find this out man answer the door with it closed had to yell back and forth through the glass door. He needs a know that the customers pay to keep there doors open and his pay check if he getting paid? What a joke. Best part of this is I have not been able to contact Owner of Anderson. To let them know and tell them of the problems we have had issues and money we have spent for nothing. I would expect this out of a third world country. Oh if you smoke they allow smoking in rooms and buildings. Also I or any one in our party saw any one vacuum hallway carpets or do any clean in side the building. NOT AS HIGH CLASS AS THE $$ THEY CHARGE AND BEWARE OF CANCELLATION POLICY **My husband and I stayed for one night in the Poolside Inn, the hotel type lodging on site. We booked the room about two weeks prior to staying as we made plans for a last minute trip. After nailing down down trip details we decided to change plans. I had reviewed the cancellation policy prior to reserving and assumed this would cost us maybe $30 to cancel since the posted cancellation policy per the website states "your deposit (less 50% fee) is refundable if we are able to re-rent your unit". By the way, we hadn't been required to put down a deposit, so I asked what would 50% of 0 be? Evidently, half of the total cost ($148.33); that's IF the room is re-booked after all other rooms have been filled. If the room isn't re-booked, we get stuck paying the entire amount. Due to this supposed policy, we decided to stick with the plan. Overall, we were disappointed. Given the prices charged at this resort, we thought it would be first class. It was not. To name a few things I found odd and annoying: staff smoke at the entrance door all day and then congregate around the entrance door for cocktails around 8pm after the work day is done, outside garbage was overflowing full, the room was very outdated and keep your shoes on- the carpet is disgusting, light bulb was burnt out in the room, no phone to contact staff (oh, but you could leave a card on the front desk in case of any problems), and the restaurant food very was low-bid (however, the bartender, Mat, was very attentive and made an excellent Long Island!). To top it all off, we found out we also had to pay $25 to put our boat in the water and take it back out at their boat launch, which was in far worse condition than the public access a few miles away. My husband and I were frustrated and will not be back to Horseshoe Bay on Leech Lake. There are a ton of resorts in the area; we've stayed at a handful and have not had these issues (though the front-desk person assured us all the resorts charge $25 to launch). read more
