There's a small parking garage underneath the library. (The garage closes when the library closes... so no dawdling!) The front desk staff was friendly and helped me get my new library card set-up. She helped to reset my account, gave me a bookmark which also noted the library hours, walked me through the different resources available, and was willing to answer any questions. You can checkout up to 75 items! The library space was new and modern. There was a community event being hosted in the meeting room when I visited. There are so many services and events that the public library offers beyond books - I dare you to check it out. As everyone's favorite aardvark once said, "Having fun isn't hard, when you've got a library card!"

I love the integration of the Spanish language in all the titles of the different areas, and that there is a dedicated space to eat and hang out where you can talk louder etc. The building gets a lot of natural light and there is plenty of parking. From the outside, the building looks a bit dated... but that's the vibe of the entire community, haha. The inside is nice! It has everything you'd want -- meeting rooms, silence that you could hear a pen drop, COVID-19 take-home test kits, chairs for reading, and of course books on books on books! I haven't checked one out yet (I have my own backlog as is), but they have quite the selection! It's convenient only being 5 minutes from my house. Since I had time to spare, I thought I would update my library account and look for a book. Dude at the front desk was nice. He updating my account easily so that was quick and cool. I walked around, kicking myself that I didn't bring my phone charger and lo! There was free charging station! Clutch!!!! Two Stars! Next, I thought I would look for the book I needed. An Eric Foner book. Not the most popular read but, lo and behold 'twas on the shelf!!!! Kill!! Three stars. So I continued to kill time reading about Historic Greenbelt, there was a display for that. I went to one of the self-checkout machines, I saw two, checked my book out and went to find the restroom. Four Stars with the self-checkout. On my way to the restroom I saw this box for donating eye glasses. I loved that for obvious reasons so add another star to my review and that's 5 but, with the men's restroom out of order on election day 2018, I deducted a star. So, I had a good time at the Greenbelt Library. I got more done than I needed and more than I expected. Good stuff, good stuff.

I have seen the starbucks line downstairs over 22 people and I'm not joking. It was one of the craziest things I've ever seen but every single one of them waited. We need more space or less people because this cannot be an effective library.

Or rather, I should say the selection of books was not a vast as I would have liked. However, I managed to find a couple of decent reads. I'll also say that the layout is a bit confusing, but it's nothing too outrageous. There is a parking garage across the street; however, you have to pay with the exception of Sundays. Call me old fashion, but I think a public library should have free parking for its patrons. But hey, I guess different rules apply when you are in a more urban environment.

There are still issues with some folks being loud, but they offer several study rooms where you can escape that. They don't seem to have as much variety in the adult non-fiction section as I'd like, but I appreciate the fact that you can request and reserve books from other branches. I've done that several times now - very quick and easy. Truthfully, this branch is much nicer and cleaner than most others in the county, and I anticipate it getting even better as they continue to bulk up their book selections.

Although I had gone through this process many times before, it just would not load for me. I went into the library and was lucky enough to get Ms. Williams, who worked with me for a good while. She tried everything that was possible, it seemed. We were unsuccessful, but I really appreciated her efforts. All of the time that I had tried, the days were ticking away on the loan after the long wait for my name to come up. Anyway, I finally was able to get it on the Ipad. For all of my years that I have lived in the area, near here, I have never known about this…read morelibrary. It is easily to be located on the corner, with plenty of parking. I love how when you first walk in there is a board for information and community events. It appears to be pretty spacious with lots of computers to work on. Another thing that is pretty great, is that they have FREE activities, like a chess club, and and a conversational club for ASL, English, French and Spanish. I can't love it anymore. Now that I now where it is, I'll be checking to see if they have toddler time for my little. Librarians are the best, as always, and I will definitely be back now that I know where it is.
