Performing Arts Center review. I recently attended a student…read moreperformance at their Performing Arts Center. When viewing the campus map online it appeared much larger and much more confusing than it actually was. The PA Center was immediately to my left as I pulled onto campus, very easy to find and parking was extremely close too! I also viewed the theater seating chart online to pick my seat. I really loved that it showed me which seats would have a blocked view, encouraging me to pick another one. The theater seemed much larger online than it actually was. So when I chose a front row seat, I had no idea I would be "kick up my feet onto the stage" close. It was still a great seat and I could see the entire performance. The acoustics were good as was the lighting. They could definitely use another bathroom, one is not enough!

They have a bully culture that goes unchecked by staff. If you have an issue the principles shrug…read moretheir shoulders and say there's nothing they can do. Even when you request a meeting with the other party's parents and the school, the school declines and allows the behavior. Not a very welcoming learning environment. If other students call your child a racial slur nothing is done. This is ONE OF the earliest environments these children should learn what is socially, ethically, and morally acceptable because obviously they are not learning this at home. To not hold children accountable for their actions is enabling them to continue the deplorable behavior. In addition the school is saying they agree and encourage the behavior by doing nothing to punish or prevent this behavior.

This is like the ideal school, so beautiful building that looks like revival Spanish style. Some teachers have been great, but our teen tried everything she could with her science teacher to get help, and she was repeatedly ignored and disrespected. Poor teaching and lack of support is not what I expected when moving into the Poway school district. I was on and off hold while the kid relayed my questions and each time they just kept telling me to check the website for information. I had questions that I could not find answers on the website, hence the call, and finally got transferred to an adult who again told me to check the website and then finally suggested that I call the district office. I had a big sigh because I had already been on the phone for quite some time and the woman responded, "Well, yeah, I'm busy too." We just moved back to San Diego after being out of state for 4 years and I am already not looking forward to my child attending schools in this district. My daughter's former school literally had staff answer the phone on the first ring and were so much nicer about guiding me through these administrative hoops.

We were so honored and the student who nominated him for the honor is just so dear to us. Overall, the school is a really nice school and they really do take care of it. I did like that the cheerleaders do the traditional thing that high school Cheer does and they went to the other side of the field to greet the Mount Miguel cheer squad and walk around with them to do their cheer games that they do. Del Norte is a beautiful and academically sound high school. The leadership over this school is second to none and the teachers truly care. I'm grateful for the opportunity of my child attending this school as I truly think they work to prepare her for college. Don't get me wrong, this school isn't a cake walk, but it's apparent she will be well equipped to attend college when she walks out the doors her Senior Year. Not only is the academic program better than a private school from what we experienced, the sports program is amazing. Some strong athletes come out of this school. Great facilities, coaches and supervision over the sports program has been a wonderful experience! Love that they invest in their academic and sports programs alike! Common to new schools there are "growing pains" of sorts to work out. At this point, DNHS is 4 years old. So far, the administrators, student body, faculty and parents have stepped up to make this a more than "good school". If MC is better, why are so many kids from its vicinity coming to this school? Some kids coming from RB high neighborhood or even WestView and Poway high neighborhoods make the commute here. Go ahead and ask those guys "why not their area high schools?" Or do you even have to try? Seems obvious... Clearly THEY think Del Norte IS the better school.

She was very behind the other students at Diegueno, but the teachers were so patient with her, and even met with her before school each week to help her get caught up. When my daughter graduated from Diegueno she told me "Mom when I first went to Diegueno, I was the dumbest kid in the class, but now I am one of the smartest ones!" I am not saying that either of those statements that she made are necessarily true, but the amazing teachers at Diegueno helped my daughter, improve and grow, and now her confidence in her abilities are through the roof. She has since moved on to high school, but one thing that is interesting is that the kids from her current school who went to Diegueno for elementary school, are excelling at math and public speaking in particular. My daughter even won the award for being the best at Algebra at her new school, because Diegueno prepared her so well, and instilled a natural curiosity and love of learning in her. You will not find a better school than Diegueno Country School.

And to top all of that, when all of the schools got locked down due to the COVID 19 pandemic, High Bluff Academy took on the challenge QUICKLY to move to online the very next week, maintaining the rigorous academics and supportive environment you would expect and hope for. My son is very happy, feels safe, enjoys his friends at school, and especially likes the relationship he has with his teachers.
