I'm always in search of newer and better indoor playground. Royal Magic Castle has got to rank in…read morethe current top 2 or 3. Huge modern play area, sand room, laser tag and arcade room including claw machines. The admission price is a bit pricey compared to others, open play costs $42.99 + tax for kids 3 feet and taller and 1 adult. Additional adults cost $18.99 each. It does include unlimited time as others are usually 2 hours max and it includes laser tag. Place is very large, has drinks and a small gift shop (toys, gifts etc). Place is modern and clean for now... until the next new indoor playground ground opens up.

The decor was amazing! It matched what we saw in their website and Instagram. It also came with pizza and juice for the kids and unlimited play. I was allowed to bring additional food and other snacks and they were kind enough to help me set up and plate the food. One tip would be to confirm the arrival of the pizza time. Our was suppose to arrive at 1230 (party started at 12) and it didn't arrive until 130 because of the rain. The pizza is ordered from a pizza shop so it had to be delivered. They were super nice and apologetic about it. The play area is huge and something for everyone. Although it might be hard to track your kid. It also felt cleaner than other indoor playgrounds that we've been too. We would definitely be back!

Raymond O'Connor Park

Raymond O'Connor's greatest asset is a fenced-in playground with only one exit. When you have to watch more than one kid, this is a life-saver. In fact, why aren't all playgrounds built this way? Only one exit a kid could possibly wander out of makes it much simpler to watch over a group. The park also doesn't get overly crowded, making it even easier to keep track of all the crazies. If I had to not-pick, one thing this playground lacks are closing doors to the two swing areas. Take your eye off a youngster who hasn't yet learned the value of fear (i.e. my 3yo boy), and the kid might run right into the front or backswing of a teen or tween killing some time on the swings. Back to the positive: there is ample street parking on the side street closest to the playground, making it very convenient if you have to drive. A sprinkler helps entertain the little ones during the warmer months, while the numerous trees surrounding the area provide shade and relief from the sun. If you have older kids or are looking to play a bit yourself, the park has a small soccer field and also some basketball courts. Overall, this is my go-to park when I have the kids to myself.

Being so small, it gets packed much of the time. There are always groups playing soccer or holding exercise classes. Wish they had a small section with exercise equipment for adults. How much could it be to put in a pull up station?

I feel like I'm the only person on Yelp doing this, but I hope someone out there finds it helpful…read more I often have to play 1-on-3 zone defense on my kids when I take them out, so I check out each playground I go to for certain criteria: Number of Exits: I prefer one - way easier to keep a kid from wandering off. Oakland Gardens has three, and two of which are relatively close to the streets. If you have any fleet-footed toddlers in your care, this might not be the best option for you. Population Density: I like less crowded playgrounds, because it is easier to spot your own kids amongst all the other kids present. Oakland Gardens, in all the times I have been there, has been nearly empty. Honestly, I'd like to see a few more kids so that my kids could have a chance to interact and play with different people, but I'll take too few over too many any day of the week. Play Options: Oakland Gardens has plenty. Swings, three different sets of bars and slides in the main area, and a fourth tucked away behind the basketball courts in a separate fenced-in section. The courts feature two full courts with standard height rims, and a third full court with rims at roughly 6-7 feet high (great for younger kids). They have a handball court and another wide, empty area past the basketball courts. Also, the main area has a water sprinkler. The park is designed for kids 5-12 but my 3yo loved it. Just make sure to supervise the young ones and watch those exits! Overall Safety: Very low creep factor, but relatively high running-into-traffic danger. This usually isn't a problem for older kids, but anyone under the age of 5-6 you need to watch very carefully. Just don't glue your face to your cell phone if you bring your kids here.

It's a beautiful day to be surrounded by nature…read more My parent's house in Oakland Gardens is close to Alley pond park, so I am able to walk the trails anytime I want. There are no sharp inclines or steep, rocky hills. I like to walk these trails to admire nature and all it's worth. The lake that I came across while walking today made me want to jump in and swim(not sure if that's allowed). Aside from the trails, there are other little playgrounds in the area that might appeal to children.

Thumbs up to their Environmental Center which is very helpful in providing educational programs. I like the availability of car parking and multiple entrances, though some trails are better than others. The best part that I enjoy in this park is it marks the start/end of the Vanderbilt Motor Parkway trail path, it is historic, a scenic trail for walking, running, and biking, a beautiful, green space that offers a break from the city, and the paved path connects it to other parks. The trail path extends about 3 miles which makes it a 6 miles trekking distance out and back. In most weekend mornings, there is a great chance that you might see me walking/biking on this trail, so, see you there.
