There was some open space for play and run-off going through the property down to a large pond that was fenced off. My guess is that it's a retention pond for storm run-off and probably nothing living should swim in it. I would have been more pleased with this park if I had not seen the water features and been excited for that. It's a small park but fairly well kept (except for the water.) close to nearby hotel.

Was really looking forward to trying after all the hype....what a let down…read more Gorgeous atmosphere, location & the staff was incredibly professional, now if that could be applied to the food quality they'd be in business. Mediocre Cocktails, appetizers luke warm at best. Tried the pork chop which was decent, the glaze was the best part. We were concerned when everything came out so quickly, not usually a good sign & unfortunately correct. Truly the worst Brussels sprouts I've ever had, cold, overcooked & terrible flavor, we sent them back & replaced w/ EXACTLY the same thing! Again, NOTHING is fresh served in 2 min! 3rd time replaced with luke warm hospital broccoli, not an ounce of seasoning. Half the meal wasn't eaten. Was kinda shocked no effort was made to comp part of the bill, desert....etc. Great place for a so-so cocktail and a walk in the gorgeous grounds is about it.

This "Petsafe" dogpark is located at Doyal park. This is an excellent place to bring your dog!!…read more The dog park is two acres, where dogs can run around and have a blast. There is a separate section for small dogs, and plenty of dog bags (to pick up waste) on both sides. Some people seem to think it's okay to let you dog poo and leave it. It's not okay. Now that we've cleared up the confusion, back to the park. There is water available, but it's outside the fence. I recommend bringing a bowl to fill up and have inside. The park is great, with benches, and plenty of shade. Oh, and Plenty of parking from what I've experienced. Overall a great place to bring the fur balls!

All the parks are quite similar and all of them have a very nice double gated concrete entry area with a nice bench on a concrete pad inside the actual Park whether it's the big park or the small Park. All the parks seem to have a poop bag dispenser and trash can close enough to be used but I have not found one that has water yet. Parking is close and there is ample area for your dog to run, dog parks in New housing projects are becoming All the Rage across the country, it is good when people get to know each other in the individual neighborhoods. So although there is no tree nor shade in the big dog park there is a tree in the small dog park, and at least they have one hahaha

I finally got a chance to come here with my neighbor and her toddler on a weekday and I was surprised how many kids were at the playground. However, we never felt crowded here and there are several playgrounds in the park, with one being in a slightly wooded section. Besides children's playgrounds, the park offers extensive greenways, sports facilities, and even, event spaces. Sports facilities include: baseball/softball fields, soccer field and an outdoor fitness center. On my next visit, I'm going to explore even more of the greenways and try to find the steel sculpture in the park called the "Quantum Embrace." Know before you go: 1) Lakeshore is open daily: 6 am - 10 pm 2) Plenty of parking spaces 3) There are public restrooms onsite 4) Events at the park hosted by the Roots & Revelry Group. Some events coming up are Paint & Sip (April 28th) and Mahjong in Garden (May 12th)

After driving around, we came across the playground area that also displayed Alex Healy's statue. He is the author of "Roots." It's a lovely statue of him and it's really big! There is no graffiti or damages to his statue, which is always a good thing! There is a lovely playground next to it and it has lots of things for kids to do! There are swings and slides and monkey bars for them to use. There isn't any shade in that area, which is a bummer so make sure you keep cool with an umbrella, sunglasses, and water! There is parking on the street above on Dandridge St.

We located Morningside Park quite easily off Dandridge Ave..I just plugged the directions in to my Google Maps app on my android and Gertrude (the name of my phone) guided us there quickly from our luncheon off Central Ave. We went strictly to see the Alex Haley statue located there in the Haley Heritage Square. This park is large and the entire area is FREE. We found parking easily and entered into the area of the park where the Statue is located. It is very nice but remember on a HOT SUNNY day, like today..Don't touch the statue YOU WILL GET BURNED...just a little FYI in case you wanted to climb on it for a photo or put a small child near it for a photo opportunity..just be careful it will BURN YOU or THEM... I was surprised to learn that my 18 yr old daughter has NEVER SEEN the ROOTS SAGA...I am a bad mommy..I have to make sure she sees it and soon!!! IT is a terrific Story of a True family that needs to be heard.. If you are in the area visiting Knoxville, put this Wonderful FREE site on your MUST DO LIST...and enjoy...the park is nice and set up for picnicking if you choose..
