I stopped in around 7 PM on a Thursday. My plans got canceled and decided to treat myself to a nice…read moredrink and dinner. They quickly sat me, and didn't offer to put me at the bar, which I really love as a single diner. I was promptly given water when seated, which I adore, great start to the meal. There's nothing like waiting for your drink to arrive without having anything to drink.
After looking through the menu, I ordered the get figgy with it, the basil-ically your fav, and the charred orange old fashioned. My server was a sweet young kid with a good personality and the environment was very Brooklyn-adjacent. Expose brick wall, neon lighting with dim lighting attributes, comfortable seating. Really cute space.
The cocktail was very well-made. The bartenders were spot on and their execution. I would've ordered another one if I wasn't already getting warm from the first. It was a true highlight. The orange and cinnamon had a light undertone throughout the entire drink... and the charred sugar from the orange really added something.
Onto the food, I would order that salad on a weekly basis if I lived in the area. Creamy, sweet, salty, and herbaceous. From the freshness of the fruit, to the warmth of the nuts, and the tender micro greens, there was a perfect amount of dressing underneath that just wrapped every bite in its spell. I couldn't stop myself from finishing it. It was addictive. Well done.
The pasta dish was lovely. The noodles were cooked perfectly and I even liked the sauce and the bread. I will say for the portion size I felt it was slightly small, but not unreasonable. However, it was underseasoned. The basil and cheese are doing the work and there was nothing to bring it together, that would be my only critique. It lacked something.
The strawberry cheesecake tart, was an unexpected finish, as I didn't plan on getting dessert. But after having two solid dishes, I thought why not. I would say that it was generic. The crust was lovely, and the cheesecake was nice, but it reminded me of one of those Philadelphia cheesecake packs you pick up at the grocery store that comes with strawberry topping. It lacked pizzazz. I wish it had some cardamom or some other elements with it to give it a lasting impression. It was the least impressive of the bunch.
I will say that the pricing was extremely reasonable for what I received, from service to the food and drink. If I am in the area again, I will most definitely be back.
