PLEASE READ BEFORE CONSIDERING THIS PLACE…read more Firstly, I'll state that I'm never the one to leave negative reviews and/or put down on a business. I'm in fact quite the opposite and always find an opportunity to compliment and give praise when I can. Yet in this case, it would be hard for me to sit back and not make my story heard. Mostly because I wouldn't want anyone else to endure what I had to go through with this place. Several weeks ago (6/13), my 7-year old Yorkie was brought in for an annual checkup (shots & lab work) with Julie Duckert, DVM. FYI..Griffin, my Yorkie, had been going to this vet clinic since a puppy. The annual checkup seemed to go smoothly and I was in-and-out of my Saturday appointment. Some days would pass (Wednesday, 6/17) in which I begin to notice what I believe to be side effects of the vaccines. The vet clinic is contacted the next day sharply at open to discuss and ask about the bloodwork results. I'm told on Thursday, 6/18 that the results aren't processed and the vet would be reaching out. With that, I allow them time to review in notice they would follow up. Thursday, Friday, & Saturday pass with no call, email, text, etc.. Monday, 6/22 comes around in which I bring Griffin back to the clinic in which Julie Duckert, DVM is the same treating vet. I express the declining health concerns in which she request to do another lab panel to be processed in-house. At this time, she notes "her intent" to call regarding the lab results conducted on 6/13 (9 days ago). These results showing problematic vitals of the kidneys that were early warning signs for action/immediate care. Upon looking at the lab panel results provided from IDEXX (3rd-Party Diagnostic Co.). It is time stamped it was delivered to Walker Animal Hospital on Tuesday, 6/16 @ 9:38 AM. This clinic and vet had failed to inform me of critical health data received 6 days ago. The blood panel results processed at the clinic shortly after would show vitals "off the chart". Griffin was in acute kidney failure and needed emergency care according to Dr. Duckett. I pay them their $311 that day and decide at that time to bring him to a 24/7 emergency care facility for further treatment. As I write this, Griffin unfortunately remains unstable and under emergency care. As you can imagine, thousands of dollars in vet bills have accumulated. In speaking to numerous veterinarians, professional's, & through my own research the past several days. Several things have become clear: -The delay in providing care for a kidney injury will have lasting and/or cause permanent damage. -These events are outside of the "normal standard of care" -Walker Animal Hospital as of recently was acquired by parent company, Mission Pet Health, out of Birmingham, AL. Therefore, they are still operating under the well known local name. With that, keep in mind that older positive reviews are likely under different ownership & management. Please do your own research & make the best decision for yourself & pet. I only share to be a small part of that decision making. Thanks!

But after speaking with the adoption agency, he came back into the room with a completely different attitude. He accused me of being a liar and a manipulator and even told me that he could care less about my medical condition. As someone who lives with spinal stenosis, fibromyalgia, nerve damage, and multiple surgeries with rods in my neck and leg, I found this deeply offensive and cruel. I was simply trying to explain the difficulties I face as a disabled person who was not informed about the dog's medical issues before adopting. I was there to seek help for an animal in need, and instead I was belittled, humiliated, and treated with complete disrespect. No professional should speak to clients this way. I left the office in tears, and my family was appalled at how unprofessional, cold, and downright rude this veterinarian was. I would never recommend this clinic to anyone who expects compassion, respect, or basic decency.

I can't say enough good things about Dr. Goss and his staff at Prairieville Animal Hospital. They…read moreare very professional and extremely caring. We had 2 dogs that they cared for over several years. Our big dog developed a cancerous lesion on his face about a year ago. We watched it very closely, but it just got to be huge. He was 19 years old, and had lived a very nice life. When it got to the point that he couldn't eat without bleeding, we decided to end his misery. They worked around our work schedules and let us grieve for a very long time in the room with him. Six months later our other dog was vomiting a lot and started to get lethargic. We initially thought it was because we were traveling a lot and boarding him (along with the fact that he was sad too after losing his brother). Since he was not getting better, we took him in to get to the root of the problem. Dr. Goss did exploratory surgery and found what he thought was stomach cancer. Dr. Goss was very patient with him. He spent a week in ICU. Dr Goss checked on him twice each night after hours and called us every day with updates. When the test results came back and it was indeed stomach cancer, we were devastated. Our pup came home for 2 days, but he was just miserable. We decided to end his misery too. Once again, the staff at Prairieville Animal Hospital worked with us and our schedule to find the right time to put him to sleep. Throughout the entire ordeal, Dr. Goss called us daily. He was so sympathetic and offered such great bedside manner when we were just so sad. Our family is so very appreciative for all the time, thoughts and prayers the staff gave us throughout this awful time. Our family has only had 3 dogs. Our first lived 16 years, then these 2 lived 19 and 12 years. Dogs become such part of your family. I'm proud to say that these 2 pups had the VERY BEST CARE in the Baton Rouge area! I would strongly recommend Dr. Goss and his staff to anyone looking for a veterinarian!!
