The thrift center generally has a variety of products gently used items and fair prices. The store is generally neat, clean, and organized.

My thing in thrift shops is glassware, vintage kitchen stuff and furniture. On that front, this Sally A's is pretty lame. Supes picked over, lots of things missing lids, gorgeous old cast iron dutch oven that smelled like human bones had been boiled in it kind of Sally A's. OMG, they have Jeffrey Dahmer's pots and pans! Not so much on the kitchenware, then. On the other hand, there were TONS of clothes (which I did not have time to go through) and some pretty good furniture finds. Wednesdays are a good day to go as anything with an orange tag is half priced, so I got a gorgeous Thonet of New York mid century desk in pretty minty condition for a mere $20. I'm such a good friend that I'm hauling this behemoth up to Chicago for Trent M. since he collects that brand. Hi, good friend, right? I was also very tempted by a nice Steel Case office credenza set (even though I already own one) that was going for nothing, but someone beat me too it. Sob. Good thing, I guess, as if I put any more furniture in my father's garage he's going to kill me. Onwards... Friendly staff, fair prices, large selection of clothes and furniture and some killer sales. Worth a stop if you happen to be in Springfield and you feel like thrifting.

Day Staff facilitated drop off of deceased friends items for review. When we dropped off items, staff said they would call when review was complete. They called 15 min prior to closing & I asked if it would be ok if we picked up the returns on Monday & I gave them all the account info they requested. Since they were closed Sunday, they said no problem, no rush & contract could be signed Monday upon pickup. They said they kept a basket of clothes to sell. When we got home, the store manager called after hours. (She was not there when we dropped off. ) She asked us to come pick up the clothes now. We returned to find all of items out on the curb. She came out to accuse us of not following rules we had never heard of. She claimed we violated rules by not waiting 10 minutes for clothes review & didn't sign the contract yet so they weren't going to keep any items. Neither 'rule' was ever mentioned at drop off. She threw her staff & customers under the bus & did not back up staff on all the things we coordinated with them. She decided to punish the customer instead. Never seen anything like it. She should not manage a business or people.

The prices are a little higher than Sal Army, but it's worth it. There is even a coffee shop inside. Lots of clothes, but I'm more of a book shopper. They have more books here than some bookstores. When I returned to purchase the item, it was gone. The cashiers informed me that the manager, Lindsey, had taken it. They attempted to contact her by phone, but she did not answer. One of the employees eventually went to find her and returned with the light. However, by that time, Lindsey had increased the price from $12.99 to $19.99, stating that the item should not have been marked that low. I contacted the company's corporate office and was told that employees are not supposed to hold items for customers, as this is not store policy. I understand that policy; however, the cashier had agreed to hold the item for me. Had I known the price would be increased while I continued shopping, I would have purchased it immediately when I first brought it to the checkout. I also spoke directly with Lindsey by phone. She admitted that she had changed the price but refused to offer any refund or other resolution. This was an extremely disappointing experience. Changing the price of an item after a customer has found it marked at a specific price, particularly while an employee is holding it for them, is unacceptable customer service. The way this situation was handled was unprofessional and left me feeling that I had been treated unfairly. I hope corporate management will take this matter seriously and address these practices so other customers do not have a similar experience.
