He offers ideas that have been constructive for me to help improve my overall focus. He also motivates me to pursue things, and seek advancement in both my career and personal life, where normally I would shy away from trying. I look forward to our visits each month as they are always positive, engaging and encouraging. I like to talk, and he is a good listener and observer. He will know if something is troubling you and try to get to the root of it right away. He would have been a blessing for me in my teen and early twenties when I lived in Michigan. I could have prevented a lot of bad decisions and would have been encouraged to pursue my dreams and personal aspirations. His waiting area and office are also inviting and pleasant to the eye, with warm colours and cozy surroundings. Like the doctor himself, it's calm and inviting. If you're troubled in any way, I highly recommend him, as he will truly aid you in improving yourself and your life.

They texted wrong time and my daughter called to let them know it was wrong. Then, not knowing they called her they called me and had a whole different time. She left work early for this appointment(we have been trying to get him help for 18 months now here!!!!) and was cancelled on as she arrived. They even said we might have the wrong name but still refused to help her. Absolutely disgusted with this group. They should be ashamed. Numerous times scheduling was completed incorrectly. We would arrive and they would say my appt was earlier in the day or a different day than confirmed. My work schedule does not change so I know the scheduling was done incorrectly. The biggest problem. An ARNP told us my son was in liver failure based on labs. This was not the case. SHE FAILED to look at the big picture of his labs and therefore caused us to panic and believe we were overmedicating our child which was not the case. A psychiatrist evaluation was done via tele therapy and the MD began to diagnose my child with several different labels within 10 minutes of a conversation. The low level of mental health care provided by BayCare is unacceptable. A TOTAL overhaul is necessary for this department. Especially given the amount of people we have today with mental health issues.

What I found was a chaotic and frenzied place with schedules that did not match, and little to no focus on the MH patients. When we would have classes for MH patients they would cancel them because there was no staff to cover them. Or they would replace art therapy with coloring in a child's coloring book. Communication between staff was disconnected at best and no one was ever on the same page when it came fo my treatment plan. Several MH patients continued to advocate for ourselves in this area but we were dismissed. It was always the same old "I hear you, I validate you, but..." and then no change. Many times when I did advocate for more MH inclusivity or there was confusion about my schedule (that they messed up with and set me up for failure) I was glared at. There were several moments where a tech would say to me "unfortunately you're not a substance abuse user" when referring to schedule, and patients would come to my defense at Say "FORTUNATELY" I ended up passing out twice with chest pains and hand tremors and they placed me in a wheel chair. When I asked for a doctor (for three days straight) none was brought to see me. When I finally was able to speak to my therapist about everything, he immediately got defensive and combative and said I was treatment-resistant. I reminded him how much courage it took for me to voluntarily go into rehab and he told I wasn't made for Residential treatment instead of just admitting that there were gaps in their program that could use some fixing. I shared with him several staff that had mistreated me and he said in no uncertain terms when I asked, that he would not be addressing it and that it didn't matter. I was dismissed and hurt by my experience, and mental health help is already difficult to come by, there is no need to spend all of that money on a place where you feel like a second class citizen. This is not only a place I would never come back to in the unfortunate event that I did, but it is also a place that I would never recommend to anyone else.

They were helpful in getting me on my previous regiment meds that had been pretty successful for the last few years. They did have me take a cognitive assessment test for ADHD even though I had already been taking meds for that. They also made me get an EKG, a bloodwork panel, and the strangest one to me was an eight panel drug test. the EKG turned into having to get $1000 echocardiogram, for an anomaly, that potentially has no effect upon my health. The cognitive assessment was about an hour and a half and pretty intense and seemed very abstract to assess someone's diagnosis of ADHD trying to memorize strange shapes made of colors that all look exactly the same and then having to try and remember them 10 minutes later. It was also a $200 Test. So establishing care there has been quite expensive expensive and I will follow up with more information. Once I have my second appointment at this point I would recommend be aware of the amount of work that they make you do whereas my previous psychiatrist had me do just some bloodwork, and none of that other stuff.
