They have events here for kids on a pretty regular basis. It's worth checking out since they are always free and my kids enjoy them very much. Sometimes parking here can be an issue as a lot of Soldiers come here to use the computer lab. There is a newly remodeled playground right outside the library. My kids love to go on the swings and the playhouse with the slides.

Got there before they opened at 7am on a Thursday and was first in line. They are rather short staffed for what I've seen at DMVs of comparable size but it was still early. They worked fast, efficiently and with warm courtesy! I'd go back in a heart beat. In and out in under 25 minutes. (Yes I called to cancel the appointment we won't use ;-)

This is a dream dmv situation. Clean, quiet, fast paced and AC blasting. Luckily I had an…read moreappointment but they also had triaged the walkins before I got there at 8am. If you're in the first 50-100 people, they will check all your documents and give you a number. They mentioned people were waiting in line starting at 5am. I don't think you really need to get there that early though. They'll try to fit you in the morning between appointments but if you don't have all your paperwork situated they will have you come back in the afternoon. Which I think is great that they make sure you have all your documents in the beginning rather than wait until your name/number is called. The appointment was also super quick! It took about 15 minutes to get what I needed to get done. Everyone hates going to the dmv but it's good to keep in mind that kindness and patience go a long way. This was such a stress free experience, I can't thank everyone who works here enough!!

Wanna say that Im very pleased with the professionalism from Hope Mills Police Department. I got…read moreoffered an opportunity to go on a ride along with HMPD very own. Got an inside look on what few things out of lot of task they do to protect the citizens of Hope Mills. It is a fairly small department, but that doesn't mean that the corners are cut due to their size at all and thats what I liked. I like how safe the officer was. He was very informative on everything he did so that I could easily understand what was happening from neighborhood patrols to traffic stops. Like I said in the beginning I cant commend him and the rest of the officers on shift on how well they were Helpful, Respectful and Professional the whole time. Will defiantly be doing another ride along soon.

After all, I was told he Joel Acciardo Chief of Police would want me to tell him exactly what I wanted from the officers and what happened to me. I complied. I was told that the Hope Mills Police Chief Joel Acciardo had a 0 tolerance for his officers abusing their authority. Guess that too was untrue. Hope Mills is not a big metropolitan county so if the incident and those officers who would do this are being paid by the citizens they can freely and blatantly misuse their authority then Hope Mills has a problem, a serious problem. BTW I am a Disabled American Veteran so this is double the disrespect and insult for my service to this country.

Harmony Hall Plantation is located in White Oak, NC. The main house was built in 1768 by Colonel…read moreJames Richardson. He was a shipper and a Veteran of the French and Indian Wars. It is one of the oldest residences in the state. Local lore claims British General Cornwallis used the house as his headquarters and that Mrs. Richardson eavesdropped on his plans through a hole in the ceiling and sent a warning to General Greene, although historians say that Cornwallis likely stayed on the opposite side of the Cape Fear River. Today, the plantation is run by volunteers and has been made into a historic village. The main house has double porches and exterior stairs to get to the upper levels. The house sits a little higher as the area is prone to flooding and suffered damage from Hurricane Florence in 2018. Inside the house, there are hand-carved fireplaces and mantels. An event was happening while I was there, so it was harder to see the house. But I happened to be there for the birthday of Harmony Hall's Colonel James Richardson. They had volunteers showing trades and crafts from embroidery to wool and flax spinning to carpentry. They even had a Betsy Ross Birthday cake. Currently, only one building is open for viewing, the main house. You can walk the grounds and see several other historic buildings. These were moved to the site for preservation. There is a schoolhouse, a chapel, a country store, a corn crib, and a log cabin. Admission and parking are free, and a restroom is available. The operating hours have changed to 12-4pm on Sundays.
