First off, this place is its own self enclosed city. If you are expecting a smaller base like Parris Island in Beaufort, you are mistaken. If you have never been there, you must stop in for a visitor pass. This includes: finger prints, license, registration and criminal background check. Good news: Your pass is good for one year. Also, make sure you enter on the left (non DOD IDS), unless you are DOD. There are 3 smaller museums and an amazing field of planes, jeeps and howitzers. Also, the outdoor memorial is beautiful. There is a food court and convenience store if you want to stop for a bite. All along campus you will see formations, trainings and how the life of the military is on a day to day basis. For educational, cultural and informational purposes, it is worth the visitor. Make sure you know, Sgt York was from the 82nd out of Fort Bragg. There is your one fact.

Butterfly on the drop zone was a nice surprise.

Literally nothing to do around here so being stationed here is not great. With the right people you can make it fun. You'll need to drive a few hours to find anything worth seeing so hold out for the 4 day weekends.

Put on your boots, boots, boots and parachutes, chutes, chutes! Love Fort Bragg because I love the 82nd (thats why I gave it 4 stars), but other than that.....booooo. There are magical forests filled with trails into nothingness. There are inaccessible lakes that cater to no aspiring outdoorswoman/man. Everything lacks effort. The only feasible recreational area is Smith Lake...and it's not even on Main Post. Dear Fort Bragg, Please put more cool stuff for the Soldiers to do on the weekend. We are tired of bowling at the Airborne lanes, tired of buying cases of beer at the Airborne PX (maybe I'm the only one), and tired of the lack of effort to make life better for Soldiers who live on post and those of us who live offpost, who'd like to do things onpost on the weekends. You have so much space, yet you choose not to be creative and use your unicorn mind. C'mon! MWR, do something! PLEASSEEEE! Love, Me

My daughter and I opted to do the drive to Fayetteville instead of going to a closer DMV because…read moreFayetteville had faster times. We got there at about 1230 and checked in, our estimated wait time was 33 minutes. At about half an hour, we started checking the times and it kept going up. At about 330. We finally got the text that it was our turn and to come in. We went inside to be told people were being called to be told to go home. When we asked why we were told they were too many people in the waiting room and no way could they get through all of us before closing. We asked why didn't anyone let people know this before hand so we could've gone to another DMV that at that point though a further drive only had an estimated 15 minute wait time. By this point it was too late for any of us to go to the other DMV office. I understand they were shortstaffed, I understand there's a lot of work that needs to be done. I only saw two employees in that office along with the security personnel. What upset us was the total lack of communication the updated wait times to let us know that they were cutting off seeing people. Instead, wouldn't there be a way to send out a text to all of us that we're waiting in our vehicles stating that due to times no more people who had been checked in would be able to get their licenses. When we did the math, they were doing approximately nine people an hour. Though this is a fantasy, I hope the DMV thinks about how they communicate to the people who have checked in and are waiting for appointments to let us know if they are going to be able to complete seeing people or not. At 3:30 there were only about 15 people ahead of us.

He said it was because he had to take a day off so it affected his OT. The staff member said, yeah because you always have OT..... They make everyone come back in the afternoon, even though nobody is being seen in the morning, so they can go past 5pm!! It's a SCAM and somebody should be investigated this!!

DMV - They are friendly and helpful but the wait is forever. I would suggest getting here when the door opens.
