You can tell immediately that this side is newer. The unit is unique in that the rooms are mostly all shared. It appears that space is limited, and that may explain why. We chose to stay at Barrow, despite shared rooms, because this is thw place with the most specialized rehab for spinal cord injuries. Thankfully, hubby had a room of his own for the entire stay. The rooms, because they are shared, do not have a sofa like other rooms. But they do have a tall cabinet, a dresser, and a really big t.v. on each side of the room. There is a curtain that separate the two spaces. There are two gyms--a physical therapy gym and an occupational therapy gym, which had a robotics gym. The PT gym has a small indoor track, a short set of stairs, a life-size model car front end, a ride of padded tables,and many machines to work out muscles and practice balancing. The OT gym has a couple of padded tables, a table to sit and do activities for fine motor skills, a weight and stretching machine, and some really cool state of the art machines to help with balance and coordination. Hubby got to use a life-size video game in which you use your legs to move a basket to catch the balls on the big screen. Very cool! There is a real "home" complete with a big kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, and laundry so that people can learn how to safely function in the home with their new limitations. The staff here is top notch. All of them. From the nurses to the therapists to the PCT's (many of whom are RNs in the PCT role for the day) to the doctors. They are attentive and really rooting for everyone to get better. I can't give them enough praise. Nobody wants to have to be a patient here, but if you need a Neuro rehab center, this one is great.

Let me start by saying: the treatment my wife received was phenomenal. That's not a word I use lightly. I come from a professional background that emphasizes planning, execution, and a pursuit of excellence, and I was genuinely impressed at every level. The medical care was outstanding. Dr. Bliss and Dr. Linke were not only knowledgeable but also deeply attentive and responsive. When a few complications arose, both physicians intervened promptly and with skill, leaving no room for doubt about their commitment and expertise. The nursing staff deserves praise as well--they were consistently helpful, kind, and ready to go the extra mile. But the heart of this review, and the true stars of the experience, are the physical and occupational therapy teams. Simply put: wow. Whether it's their training, their personalities, or a combination of both, the PT/OT staff at Barrow are compassionate, driven, and remarkably effective. Their ability to connect, motivate, and produce tangible results made a real difference in my wife's recovery. They don't just go through the motions--they care, and it shows. No hospital experience is without its challenges, but this one came remarkably close to faultless. And I say "almost" only because perfection is such a subjective, elusive thing. They were able to set up an online evaluation within days of my call, not like the others who said they were booked for weeks. To be able to have the evaluation completed online was a God send. It makes it so much more do-able for people that don't have their license and don't drive to be able to meet and complete the requirement set by MVD. Even after the screening when I had questions about the next step for my friend, Nathan was so knowledgeable and cut out all the confusion. He even made a recommendation of a provider who can help... My daughter was so bad on drugs I didn't know if she would make it to the next day. Now she is a completely different person and I give all the credit to Crossroads. The therapy from Sateva (sp) and Fredrico was amazing. They pushed him and encouraged him daily. We wouldn't be home without them! The nursing staff was mostly great. As with anywhere there were challenges. Mostly night staff when I wasn't around. Big shout out to Gabriel, Gedo and Yesenia! They were the cream of the crop! NP's Tami and Jasmine were awesome too! Not to end on a sour note... admin work/staff fell short. We got our admission papers on day 11! Felt like the case manager Anita may have been on commission. NP's were wanting us to go home but she wasn't finding the resources to make that happen. Disappointed but it all came together at the end! All in all a good experience and outcome!

I had to emergently petition for someone that is related to me, residing in the state of AZ, due to…read moreserious concern of imminent risk to self/other/deterioration. My emergent petition was filed 2116 12/21/25 due to recent alarming behavior on 12/20/25 and 12/21/25. This patient was not evaluated until minimum 41 hours later since the petition was filed. I was informed by a staff that notarized my Emergent Petition that I would receive a phone call about the status of the petition and disposition of the patient in a certain time frame. I did not even receive any communication until 12/23/25 1141, asking me for "updates." As I did not receive any information or updates of this patient, I was very confused that this staff identified themselves as "Nick" was asking me for updates. He proceeded to ask me if I could answer questions about my emergent petition. Again, these were a very odd questions. I informed Nick that I had filed many EDOs in the state of Texas, which is the Texas equivalent of EP. I stated that this is not part of standard procedure, so I am unsure what he is asking here and I will not follow a non-standard odd line of questioning. He promptly hung up after 1 minute. This whole time, I thought that this patient had already been evaluated, as in the state of Texas, EDO lasts 48 hours, and this time window is already almost out as we were at 41 hours when I arrived at Connections, AZ, in person. Because of this recent phone call, and the fact that the pt also violated another court order today, I was deducing that this patient could be decompensating more, so I went to Connections, AZ in person to file another Emergent petition. A staff that handles front desk duties immediately started antagonizing me after hearing my request. She was a woman in her 40s, obese habitus, dark hair, prominent lip fillers, resting comfortably in her chair. MSE necessary here as she did not identify herself. She and I had some peaceful exchanges initially, however once she called Nick, she started getting argumentative, confrontational with me. She brought in the supervisor to confront me, without me requesting to speak to any supervisor. She then turns around and accuses me of asking for the supervisor. When clarified, she stated "well you said something about Nick calling you and something about perjury." To which I stated "did I ask for the supervisor." At this point, she became agitated, unilaterally ended the conversation "I DON'T HAVE TO TALK TO YOU." Ok. This supervisor Deej Walther identified herself. She states that she is the head CCM of the unit, she did not identify herself as someone directly caring for this patient. She presented with an immediate escalated demeanor, with a scowl and intense eye contact. "What do you want here?" I was entirely unsure what she was referring to, as she asked to speak to me. I politely explained that I thought I needed to file another Emergent Petition, with the assumption that the patient had already been evaluated and discharged, as it is now 41 hours past the notarized filing of the emergent petition. This patient again violated a court order today, so that raises cause of concern for more decompensation. She proceeded to mock me, scoff, and scowl at me when I stated I was practicing in TX as a psychiatrist. She continued to escalate, quote the words "emergent petition" with theatrical hand gestures, coupled with a condescending affect and intense eye contact. This level of aggression is entirely unfounded and unprovoked. I am concerned that this workplace behavior is indicative of some extreme poor level of emotional regulation, disinhibition, and very possible underlying untreated psychopathologies. She proceeded to explain that my petition was not emergent, as the dates of safety concern were in 10/2025, to which I stated "did you read the entire petition? I mentioned dates in 12/19 and 12/20. She had no answer to that and immediately switched to a dumbfounded and guilty affect. This individual Deej is displaying some serious concerning behavior at the workplace. She appears to be massively impaired to be practicing any psychiatry or patient care. Another cause of concern is that she stated "you aren't going to get what you want, we will likely discharge the patient." Never in this conversation had I verbalized what I wanted, and the fact that you are implying that due to your countertransference towards me, you are willing to retaliatorily make a patient disposition. That tells me that you are seriously, seriously impaired. Her verbalized course of action is almost criminal, threatening this writer that she will discharge the patient without a full evaluation, without even reading the petition in full. My petition was accepted, under the terms of imminent risk to self, others, and deterioration. Sounds like Deej W is willing to put harm in patient's way and jeopardize public safety, with the sole intention of retaliating against me. DW reported to AZHS

One LAST weird thing, when my family tried to pull me out IMMEDIATELY they said they couldn't release me yet because I had "m*th" in my system.. the scary thing is I have never done that drug ever in my life so I am unsure how it came to be in my system.
