It must go back to the days when Shell used to run a rally called the Shell 4000 back in the 60's. At this location, it's just regular folk gettin regular gas for their regular modes of transportation. 3 grades of gasoline can be bought here, plus diesel. They have stuff you can buy to eat and drink if you just happen to be dropping in on your road trip. Refuel, replenish and reset and you're off to where you gotta go.

I've been stopping in Hope for years and this fuel and food stop was a regular stop since the 70s. It was a good location for a great many years. So I suppose it is habit that keeps putting me in this place often in the past few years. Always now the experience is poor. An absolute minimum is done to maintain and stock this station and customer service does not exist. Visiting there mid-day on Valentines Day'21 upon entry I didn't think the building was staffed. There was a line for the washroom and one other young guy leaning at the drink counter talking on his phone. It turned out he was the staff. He conducted my gas and food sale without speaking to me. Not once. He continued his conversation throughout the sale. He didn't even look at me. Courtesy of this rude individual and his predecessors, I think I can finally break my habit and stop elsewhere next time. That level of disservice won't be easy to forget. To the owners: Hope has a long standing history of customer service as is is a gateway to eastern destinations for travellers and yours are often the first faces drivers encounter in Hope. I suspect you likely don't live in Hope or you would care what impression your business gives visitors.

But you can see it on Google StreetView. It's a little dingy and beaten up, but the gas is fine. There are plenty of pumps available too, so there was no lineup. The only issue is that the pavement is all torn up, with bumps and puddles everywhere. So if you're on a motorcycle, be extra careful.
