They have a free breakfast provided by a different one of their small groups each Sunday during the summer. Breakfast starts at 9 and service begins at 10. The breakfast was diverse and well balanced, but we suggest arriving closer to 9 if you want access to the full variety. This week, Pastor Foss handed over the mic to a group of young high school men who traveled to Mexico for a week on missionary duty! They told of their experience and the impact they made on the children they visited. The congregation was all so friendly, the worship songs had a more modern style to them, but were still well known songs. Pastor Foss is very friendly and introduced myself and my friend to another church member who is from the Dominican Republic, after hearing of my friend's missionary trip there. I highly recommend this church to anyone in the area, especially families!

I'm sure he's as warm, friendly and personable as he sounds on audio, and appears in video. However, attending numerous services over they years, 'Pastor Brett' is kind of like the Wizard of Oz. He appears through the magic wall-size video screen -- teaches -- and disappears when he's finished. It's obvious that with such a large following that he can't be everyone's 'personal pastor' -- thus Athey has a dozen or more sub-pastors. Sadly, those with whom I've interfaced are quite unlike the kindly Pastor Brett. The warmness of Pastor Brett seems to end with him. It feels like a "cold" church otherwise. The church eschews 'greeters'. After hassling with parking, families and couples rush into the church, check in their kids, reserve their seats, grab coffee and chat with their long time friends. Every time I've visited the church in person, I stood near the 'barn doors' and smile at folks rushing in. I've been mistaken for a greeter; I let them know I'm not, just looking for friendly people to meet. In all of the encounters, two different men stopped to chat for a moment. At the end, no one lingers; everyone rushes for the door, trying to make it to their vehicles and out of the parking lot. I've been a few of their men's group meetings. Especially since my Christian brother and friend have passed away, I've been hoping to make male Christian friends. Again, arriving early; smiling; reaching out saying "hello, how are you, I'm ....." -- it's meet with a coolness and indifference that's positively chilling. It's interesting that no one can become a 'member' of Athey Creek Church - they claim not to have membership roles. Calling for prayer recently, I was met with biblical scolding by a pastor on the telephone. I'll chalk it up my not expressing myself and my situation well at the time. It made me very sad at the time, feeling that I'd "lost my church". But then, I realized, I've never been accepted as a "member" anyway. Still, Brett's bible teaching is still exceptionally good. I watched again today, from home.

My husband and I had some difficult experiences in the past that made us nervous and bitter about even trying to find a new church. In the last couple of years we were open and looking but nothing stood out to us. I just so happened to find out that a recent concert I wanted to attend was being held at this church. This inspired me to start my research, as usual. This is what I usually do and end up talking myself out of it, but this time was different. I was going through a tough time and submitted a prayer request online. I had done so to other churches in the past and most of the time I never got a response, got one weeks later, or just an automatic reply. What a blessing it was that I got a response within a few hours, with a private and personal message from Pastor Jen. She told me exactly what she was praying for me for, and let me know that I could have a pastor call me to pray over the phone as well as many other sources of help and community. I felt the love and warmth. Not only do I believe her prayer was in perfect timing, I received a resolution message at the exact minute that she sent me her prayer email. What a blessing! I was then inspired and found their social media. I saw they had a women's friendship coffee on the first Sunday of every month, the very next day. I responded to their post and they promptly let me know that they would LOVE for me to attend and meet some other women who are also doing the best they can during this difficult life. I felt that message was also very genuine. Needless to say, I went, met some very lovely women, found out about ALL the groups and programs they offer and even stayed for worship service. I couldn't believe how comfortable I felt at this place. You wouldn't think that when you first see the size of this church but now I see why the size is necessary. They are a growing community, loving and open to learning how to live more like Jesus and be his disciples. Amen! I have found my home! The greatest part is that, I was so moved that my husband took notice and was excited to come join me for worship services in the future. If you're looking for a great place to learn and worship Christ, give this place a chance. I always thought that a small and intimate church was the way to go, this was very judgmental of me. This place IS intimate. You can hide away in a corner or be right where the action is. I am so glad that I was proven wrong, and I cannot wait to get involved.

If you need to be inspired, come and listen to Pastor Bill's sermons. He is the real deal and I…read morealways walk away reconnected!
