I love this place…read more I needed a couple of small bottles filled with blessed holy water for ghost hunting. No Catholic churches around had it just by walking in, which I am used to "where I come from". This church had a huge pool with holy water. We were in and out. Now I am covered again with holy water in the car, and in the house. I am thankful to them! I could not believe how much trouble we had to go through to find such a church. The people seemed very nice, and normal. It seemed like a nice, family oriented church with people who are there for the right reasons. If I were a Catholic who was looking for a nice, neighborhood church? I would *definitely* stop into this quiet looking little church. The church we tried right before this was rather rude with people staring at us who were lined up for confession (St. Cecelia, Beaverton, OR). This other church is definitely a church I would not step back into.

I was in the search for Holy Water. Don't ask why I was after Holy Water but I need a bunch of it…read more The font at Seton Catholic Church is what one would typically think it it should be so I was able to get a good amount of Holy Water. The Church itself is welcoming and the congregation doesn't stare at you when you walk in to pray or get Holy Water. There is a Spanish Mass on Saturday and English Mass on Sunday, which is a nice touch. I honestly haven't been to Mass at this Church but since Mass is basically the same world wide I don't expect it to be any different. From what I've seen walking in, getting Holy Water, lighting a candle and praying. I'd give this Church a shot.

This review is long overdue because I was part of this church for a brief two months. I am from…read moreCalifornia but back then when I lived in Oregon this is the place I would be every other Sunday. I am glad to be part of their English congregation. I am not a full time Presbyterian but I am glad to find somewhere safe to worship when I needed to stay in the PDX area. Everyone is so nice here even though I am Chinese-Singaporean, they aren't afraid to talk with me which is super nice. During my stay in Oregon, I had a hard time finding a church to worship in because I couldn't return to California every week. Some of the church members even offered to stay with me at the bus stop because I don't drive on 185th st. I like how everyone who talked with me showed a smile which is super nice. I hope to come here again when I return to Oregon. It's a long bus ride but really worth it.

I'm so blessed to have found this wonderful church during my 3 month stay in Portland! I waited…read moreuntil I had moved back to California before writing this review, just so I don't embarrass anyone while I'm still there haha. I found this church via their website online, since they are one of the few Asian churches around that have a website in English! I emailed Mi Yun, one of the staff for the English Ministry (EM), and she got back to me immediately with really helpful information. She told me about their church, and even emailed me a helpful writeup of other churches and described their different styles in case I was looking for something in particular. I did check out some of the churches she suggested, but decided to commit to Eden quickly. I attended the EM service at 9:30 am on Sundays, and though it's relatively small (maybe 25-40 attendees per given week), it was just what I needed for community here. The EM is actually pretty ethnically diverse for being a Korean church, so I really enjoyed that. It seems the average age groups are college, grad school, and young adults (early 30s). There are a couple families with kids as well. I had checked out a several larger and more well-known churches in the Portland area, but none made me feel as welcome and at home as Eden's EM. Everyone was so friendly and there were no cliques, so I felt comfortable with everyone. They would invite me out for coffee or meals, and they were receptive to my crazy ideas too (like going to the OMSI Star Party? hahahaha). =) If I ever needed anything, they were so selfless and generous, and it often made me think, "This is what real Christian community is like...I was afraid I wouldn't find it here in Portland like I did in California, but I found it so quickly!" I loved this church so much that whenever I had friends or family visiting from California, I couldn't wait to bring them to this church on Sunday, or on Monday night for the EM small group fellowship. I think I've spent enough time talking about the wonderful people that make up the EM community at this church. So besides that, which is one of the most important things, the messages are solid, the worship is great, everyone appreciates food (delicious Korean food!), and there's a number of different ways to get involved and serve both the church, the Portland community, and the international community (missions, etc). This is a humble church that has a solid Foundation and glorifies God in faith and action. Though I only attended this church for 2.5 months, I feel like I've been coming here for much longer and I already miss the community here, which has been like a true family to me. I pray that they would be blessed more and more as they seek God together!
