Terrible service! I ordered a new pump for my pool and instead they fixed the 13yr old existing pump and charged me $270 in service charge. The new pump was only $400. After 2 days the old pump started smoking n sparking and died. They refused to give me any money back and after I paid for a new pump to be installed it was leaking within a month. I called them and they changed a seal and charged me another $200 ! I will never deal with this business again Plus I'm shopping for a spa and they lost my business read more

These people are crooks. This is my first time ever writing a negative Yelp review, and Wendy, the owner, with her team stole my money then called the police on me. These events are not exaggerated and completely factual, which I have waited since last October to write, so that you, the consumer, can make an informed decision now that pool opening season is here. I also apologize for the lengthy review since I want to be precise as possible about how Hooton ripped us off. We purchased our home last year and the previous owners used Hootons, which they referred us to. When we purchased the home, the pool's tarp was nicely covered with no steps in place and full complement of water bags. We booked them to open our pool, which they installed our steps and put our equipment away. Over the summer, we spent thousands of dollars on chemicals and parts since we've never owned a pool before, and relied on Hooton expertise to guide us in what to purchase. They always recommended us to buy parts, which later on found out that we didn't need a new pump gasket, or phosphate for the water. During my frequent weekly visits, one of the associates knew me my face because of my frequent purchases. When it was time to close our pool, we called Hooton and they said they were busy with closings since it was in October, but give them our credit card info and they will stop by to close the pool whenever time permits. They will call in advance to let us know their arrival. Well they never called in advance, charged our credit card $350, and showed up late one evening to close the pool. When they showed up unannounced, they didn't remove the steps, which they said was bolted down. However, they were the ones who installed the steps during the opening. Then they threw away our water bags because they had holes in them. My wife then asked if we should get new bags, and the older gentleman said that it would cost us a fortune that we can use flower pots or bricks instead. This made no sense to her since she just had given birth, so picking up heavy objects would not have been ideal, and I work long hours so I wouldn't know where to pick up bricks on my off time. When I went and asked Wendy to rectify the problem, she defended her workers saying that they would never suggest anything like that and she would get back to me. I work with children, so honesty is something that I value and teach, and her workers actually said that to my wife. Wendy said that she will call me back which she never did. When I went in store in person, the male manager called me a liar and that my wife and I need to get our stories straight. Then he slammed his hand on the desk and told me to leave the store. NOW I felt so violated. All we wanted was them to fix the problem, not to reimburse us. Then he called the police on me since I refused to leave unless they complete the job, or give us our money back. Being a black man, I found this very offensive since all I wanted was a solution to the crappy job they did. The police even suggested that I take them to the Better Business Bureau to file a complaint. Yes the cops suggested taking them to court. PLEASE don't use these crooks. They are overpriced, dishonest, and confrontational. The customer is never right with these people as is evidence by the bad reviews that they've received. Pool boy, Pool sitter, Paradise pools, are all better solutions and reputable companies that get the job done to your satisfaction. Even industry insiders have said that Hooton provides FAKE service. If they can rip me and others off as you can see on these reviews, they may do the same to you. read more

Horrible service! Brought in a spa pump to be diagnosed and after a week, I called them. They hadn't even looked at it. Called them later that day and they said the pump was no good. Told them I would pick it up the next day. Got there and the shop was closed all day, no sign but found out they were at a spa convention all day. Went back next day and they had a bill waiting for me, reluctantly I paid it only to have my expensive spa motor returned in a box and the motor was in a million pieces! No apology and didn't care about my empty frozen tub that was at home freezing up! Do not recommend this company. read more

We purchased a spa from them about 3 yrs ago and have had nothing but trouble ever since. Any time I have called to ask a question they say they will call back but rarely do and then they just redirect the question. I asked to have a couple of items replaced 2 yrs ago and they said they would order them and never have. When I need help with the spa settings they tell me to just check the manual which they never gave us. Along with the fact that we can't find the manual online for our specific pool it certainly doesn't help us any. I would never have to deal with them again if I had no choice. Fabulous service. We dealt with Hooton Pools since last summer and we moved in to a home with an inground pool. We had the best service and help from them. We lived with pools for years in Hamilton and I am telling anyone that we never got service there as we have out here with Hooton's. The staff are so friendly and so helpful. read more

We went with Hooton pools for the sale and installation of our $20,000 on-ground pool, because they had the pool we wanted and the sales person we dealt with was very easy to talk to, knowledgable and informative. We did our research, went in armed with questions, called the BBB etc. The pool was installed in the fall of 2010 and closed for the winter. The installers came back in May of 2011 to finish the install and open the pool. We did not receive a manual for either the pump or the filter, nor could the installer answer any of the questions we had about the new system. We also did not receive the reel for the pool cover, even though it was to be included. I explained that I had called back and spoken to the sales person just a day or 2 after putting a deposit on the pool, and told her we wanted a leaf net and pool cover reel. These items had not been in the original agreement, so she added them in and adjusted the price accordingly. The leaf net was delivered at the time of installation. The reel was not but we assumed it was because they would bring it in the spring and install it. They ended up charging us again for the reel and installation. It was not on the original agreement and the salesperson is no longer there so we had no recourse. We noticed right away that the pump was louder than it should be and called them about it. We waited, and waited, called again, waited again. Finally after 4 phone calls and 4 weeks, the owner and the installer came out to check it. We were told that this pump is louder than others, that they would adjust a few things and that should do it. We told the owner that we did not know how to clean the filter, how often, etc. He said he didn't know -he would have to check the manual, which we still did not (and still don't) have! The pump was still very loud and we started to have trouble with the filter not working properly, I'm assuming because the pump was not running right. Soon, we had algae. Another call to Hooton, and they sent someone out to replace the pump, finally, six weeks after we initially reported the problem to them. We have since been struggling to keep the pool clean. We've been cleaning the filter 2-3 times a week, running the pump 24/7 and Still have algae and small particles in the pool. We were told we would have to clean the cartridge filter once or twice a year and replace it every 5 years. We are getting a new one this week as we are at our wit's end. I have spoken to them again about this and they say it is a tough year for everyone because of all the pollen, etc. There has been no offer to help troubleshoot or to fix the problems. The after-sales service has been terrible. Trying to get a question answered almost impossible. We are so disappointed and frustrated that we spent so much money on something we though we would be able to enjoy and instead it has been nothing but a hassle. read more

We buy supplies for our hot tub and pool from Hooton Pools, and bring in water samples for testing several times in the spring while the water is getting back to being stable. We find them very knowledgable and helpful. They always have the answers and products we need to keep everything running perfectly! read more
